Chapter 83: That Can’t Be My Son
A brief deafening silence fell in the office as every pair of eyes tilted to the smashed latest edition iPhone on the marble floor, eyes widened and jaws dropping.
Mr Fabian almost felt sorry for Regina. If she had probably listened to him and calmed down, this wouldn’t have happened.
“Gwen!”
Regina boomed, her widened eyes darting between her scrunched face daughter and her invaluable device. It was an iPhone 4S elite gold brand worth millions of dollars which she recently acquired with a fraction of her loot.
“Have you gone mad?” Regina yelled, steam coming out from both of her ears, as she crouched to pick up her damaged phone. “Look at what you’ve done to my phone screen.”
“Well deserved,” Jerry muttered under his breath, beaming with satisfaction. He stopped his parents from pleading with Regina, still brooding on her earlier insult.
“Is just a bloody phone, Mom. We can fix it later. At least, I have your attention now.” Gwen sneered feeling unremorseful.
One of the officers standing behind Gwen frowned. He was disgusted by her behaviour after destroying something so expensive. He mentally calculated the cost of the phone and compared it to his annual income. Only that phone could pay his salary for his entire service year without any hiccups. How he hated rich people and their wasteful vanities.
“Just a phone!” Regina flared up at her daughter. “Just a phone you say? Do you have any freaking idea how much it’s cost me to get it?”
“Can you stop being materialistic right now and help me get out of this place or do you need me to call Uncle Matt and ask for his help?” Gwen lashed out at her mother matching her anger.
Regina slightly froze, dumbfounded at her daughter’s masked threat. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me.”
“I think we all need to calm down and address the matter at hand.” The chief of police intervened in the mother and daughter feud which was getting out of hand. “As I said earlier, we can either address this matter right here and right now or you can all go to court and battle it out there. The ball is in your court.”
“We will settle the matter here, chief.” Jerry’s father spoke up stepping forward. “Just tell us what we need to do.”
“Mrs Shawls…” They stared at the slightly lost and enraged mother. “Fine. We’ll settle out of court.”
“Then you all should get seated while we wait for his lawyer to arrive.”
“Who is this almighty, ‘He’.” Regina scoffed.
A knock on the door followed by a creaking sound ushered in Blaze’s business lawyer, Mr Barry.
“Impossible!” Jerry’s jaws dropped, recognizing Amelia’s lawyer.
“Who are you?” Regina eyed the lawyer, scanning him from head to toe.
“I’m Mr Barry and I’m here to represent my client’s interest.”
“And who is this client of yours?” Mr Morgan asked.
“Mr Anderson.”
“Mr Anderson!” All three parents echoed the name in shock.
“Yes.” Mr Fabian concurred, gesturing to the two chairs opposite his table and the empty couches. “Mr Blaze Anderson is the person Gwen and Jerry broke into his hotel room.”

Taylor Young reluctantly checked out of the hotel after his beautiful companion was forced to leave him in the early hours of the morning to attend to a family emergency. He got into his white latest edition Mercedes-Benz and signalled his driver to take him home.
On his way home, he decided to check up on his son and get more updates about his previous evening encounter with Blaze Anderson.

But instead of his son taking the call. Tylor heard the voice of a young female asking if this was Tyler’s father.
“Who are you and why are you with my son’s phone?” Taylor demanded in a deep, arrogant and intimidating phone.
“I am Nurse Faith and I work with the Salvine General Hospital. Please sir are you driving?”
“No. But that doesn’t answer my question. Why are you with my son’s phone? Put Tyler on the phone now.”
“I’m sorry sir but I’m afraid I can’t do that. I have slightly disturbing news to give you and I need to understand you do not have any underlying heart conditions.”
Tylor brows pulled together, his patience wearing thin.
“Can you spit out whatever you have to say and stop wasting my precious time? Where is my son?”
“My Tyler Young is currently admitted to our hospital
“What?” Tylor boomed, eyes widened and heart racing. “How did that happen? Is he alright? Can I…”
“Sir, I’m afraid I can’t answer any more of your questions. I would appreciate it if you come down to the Salvine General Hospital emergency unit. Our doctors here would be more than glad to answer all your questions.”
“Insolent fool!” Tylor hung up, seething in rage. “Turn this car around and take me to Salvine General Hospital.” He said, barking at his aged driver who was already accustomed to his varied mood swings.
Twenty minutes later, Tylor hurried into the main hospital reception and started demanding for his son.
The male nurse receptionist, who had just resumed his morning shift and had no knowledge of the patient brought in the previous night through the emergency unit decided to ask a few questions leading to a series of ugly events.
“Sir, what did you say your son’s name was again?” The male nurse asked, going through the list of patients that were registered in the attendance log book.
“Tyler Young,” Tylor said impatiently while staring at a female nurse pushing a young man seated on a wheelchair – whose head and right hand were heavily bandaged.
‘Please Tyler, be okay.’ Tylor prayed earnestly in his heart as he waited to get directions to the specified ward number where his son was being held.
“You said he was brought in here this morning?” The nurse asked again going through the list of names on the logbook and the computer.
“I’m not sure because that damn nurse didn’t say anything to me,” Tylor replied scowling at the visibly shaken male nurse. “Just check your records for yesterday and today.”
“Okay, sir.” The nurse scanned through the previous day’s patient list for Tyler Young but found no such name. He called his partner to help him check in case he was omitting something.
“How long does it take to find a single f*cking name?” Tylor thundered at the two nurses, banging his clenched fist on the reception desk and causing them to flinch backwards. His outburst attracted the attention of other patients in the reception – who were appalled by his choice of words – and the admin manager.
A professionally dressed female admin manager came out of her office, wearing a disturbed look on her face. She made her way around the desk to meet the grieved client.
“Good morning, sir. Please let me attend to you.”
“Just give me directions to my son. Is that a difficult job for you people to do?” Tylor growled, glaring at the young female in reading glasses who was smiling apologetically at him.
“His name is…” She looked at the male nurse.
“Tyler Young. We have checked today’s and yesterday’s attendance. He was not captured, ma’am.”
“Have you contacted the emergency unit?”
Ding!
A bell rang in Tylor’s head. The annoying nurse had said something about an emergency unit.
“I’ll do that right away ma’am.” The male nurse picked up the intercom and reached out to the emergency unit. “Do you go have any patient with the name Tyler…Yes… thank you.” He dropped the call and looked up to his boss.
“He was brought in last night at the hospital emergency unit.” The male nurse receptionist reported, releasing a suppressed sigh.
“Thank you.” The female admin manager tilted her head back to their grieved client. “Sir, can I take you to him now?”
“What are you waiting for?” Tylor shot her a nasty look instead of admitting to his earlier mistake.
They both left for the hospital emergency unit and were directed to the general intensive care unit, where a total of four patients were receiving medical treatment. The admin manager handed Tylor to the head doctor before returning to her office.
“Welcome Mr Tylor Young. I am Doctor Roch and the chief surgeon of the hospital.” The mature doctor with grey hair and an air of renowned experience, extended his hand politely.
“It’s nice to meet you, Doctor Roch.” Tylor shook hands briefly before asking. “Where is my son.”
“Please come with me.” Dr Roch said politely, leading the bewildered father into the ward.
“If I may ask, what happened to Tyler?” Tylor asked, panic lacing his voice as he passed by the first unconscious patient, who looked as though he had been pulled out of a rubble.
Doctor Roch let out a sympathetic sigh as he recalled Tyler’s pathetic state when he was first brought in.
“According to the nice young lady who brought him down here, he was involved in a drunken fight at a stripper club.”
“What!” Tylor’s jaws dropped. “A stripper’s club? How come?” Tylor asked, even though he knew both his sons were womanizers just like him.
“I’m afraid I can’t answer that question.” The doctor said shaking his head as they got near bed four. “But I can tell you for certain that your son was in a bad state when he came to us. He had a broken and bleeding head, a broken arm, multiple fractured ribs and an acute groin injury as a result of someone kicking him in the nut.”
Taylor’s jaws dropped. His eyes widened and were filled with horror as they stopped before bed four.
“Here is Tyler.”
“That can’t be my son.”
