Chapter 84: My Heart Is Aching
There on the bed, lying unconscious and strapped to different beeping medical devices, intravenous drip and an oxygen mask, was Tyler Young. He was looking like someone who had been run over by a truck.
His face was slightly swollen with a few slash marks and a conspicuous black eye. His slightly dislocated neck was held in place with a cervical collar. White bandages were wrapped around his head, his bare chest, and one of his arms.
Tylor could feel his body trembling as he stepped backwards almost tripping on the blue hospital folding bedside screen.
But Doctor Roch was quick to hold the terrified father and support him.
“That can not be my son,” Tylor whispered in a low broken voice.
“I’m very sorry, sir. I wish I could tell you otherwise. But you can be rest assured that we are doing everything within our power to help Mr Tyler recover. He should be back on his feet within two to four weeks.”
Tylor nodded his head, barely hearing what Doctor Roch was saying as he slowly approached his son’s bedside, tears gathering at the corner of his eyes.
“You said he was involved in a drunken fight at a stripper club, right?” Tylor asked, stroking his son’s face.
“That is what we were told by the young lady who brought him in.” Doctor Roch replied.
“Who is this lady and where is she?”
“I’m afraid she bailed on us after dropping off your son. I guess she was afraid of getting arrested or standing in as a witness. That was why we tried reaching out to you last night to no avail. So we contacted the police before commencing the operational procedures.” Dr Roch explained.
Tylor hands balled into a fist, his initial panicked look replaced with a murderous expression.
“Did she say anything about those who were responsible for beating my son?”
“No. But our emergency team did get a call from the Golden Girls Stripper’s Club about several emergency cases resulting from a drunken fight gone wild. I have reasons to believe that your son was involved in that fight.”
Tylor’s scrunched face deepened.
“Have my son transferred to the VIP ward and ensure he gets only the best treatment. I need him up and functioning in less than a week.”
A frown etched on Doctor Roch’s face.
“We will do our best, sir. However, a week might not be feasible due to his broken ribs. It would need more time to heal.”
“Just make the time shorter.” Tylor spat out between clenched teeth. “I will pay handsomely for it.”
“We will do our best, sir.” Doctor Roch decided not to argue with the aggrieved father. “Why don’t you go down to the accounting department to sort out some outstanding bills while I arrange for the transfer to the VIP ward?”
“Fine.” Tylor spared his son one last enraged look before storming out of the general ward.

Tina hadn’t been herself since the previous day after learning that Blaze and Amelia left the event venue together, holding hands like a couple. She almost ran insane with jealousy if it hadn’t been for Joanna by her side. She made sure all of their friends knew about Amelia’s betrayal even though some of them acted indifferent to the information.
After making several failed attempts to reach out to Amelia directly and indirectly, Tina decided to leave the battle for the next day.
By the following morning, she was looking more miserable than the previous night. Her eyes were swollen from crying and her head was banging from overthinking. She picked up her phone and tried Amelia’s number again. But it was still the same old story. Amelia’s phone was switched off.
Tina checked her messages to see if Amelia replied to at least one of the many accusatory and insulting messages she sent. But sadly, there was not a single message from Amelia.
Only Joanna replied to her messages, encouraging her to hang in there and wait until Amelia was back online.
“How long do I have to f*cking wait,” Tina screamed, picking up the glass of water by her bedside and smashing it angrily on the floor, causing shards of glass to fly in every direction.

The sharp and loud sound of shattering glass coupled with her scream, attracted her mother’s attention.
“Tina!” Eunice Stevens came up to her daughter’s bedroom door and pushed it open without knocking. “Oh my goodness, Tina.”
Eunice widened eyes stared at the mess on the floor. The maid behind Eunice, who was holding a glass of juice for the young madam was startled to see broken glass everywhere.
“Clean up this mess this instant,” Eunice said as she collected the tray containing the glass of freshly squeezed apple juice.
“Yes, ma’am.” The maid bowed her head politely before dashing off to get her cleaning tools.
Eunice carefully maneuvered her way over to her daughter’s bedside, where the latter had her head buried in her pillow, crying. She carefully drops the tray on the bedside table before turning to look at her daughter.
“Baby, what is the matter? Did something else happen?” Eunice sat on her daughter’s bed, raising her feet up to avoid getting pierced or a cut. She moved closer to her daughter and started stroking her hair while speaking to her softly.
“Baby…”
“Her phone is still switched off, Mom.” Tina’s voice was raspy almost like a broken record as she lifted her head up to meet her mother’s pitiful gaze.
“No one has been able to reach her and I have every reason to believe that she’s with him. That slut could have spent the night in Blaze’s bed, mum. What am I going to do? I don’t want to lose him again. My heart is aching.”
Eunice’s forehead furrowed at the sight of her pretty daughter’s grief-stricken face. She could tell Tina didn’t catch a good sleep due to the heavy eye bags hanging below her reddened eyes. And this slightly pissed her off. She asked the maid, -who had arrived with the cleaning tools to wait outside and shut the door behind her before turning to face her daughter squarely.
“You have to put yourself together,” Eunice said in a stern voice. “This…” She gestured at Tina’s face. “…is not going to win your man back. Succumbing to defeat when the battle hasn’t even started is the first sign of failure. You need to rid your mind of every negative thought and think positively.”
