Chapter 90: You Are Special
Donned in a long flowing cream chiffon gown, with long cascading brown hair laced with a few strands of grey and a simple but priceless pearl necklace adorning her neck, Maria looked like an enchanting fairy godmother.
Standing on her left and right-hand side outside the magnificent Anderson mansion, were Henry and Eugene looking like her protective bodyguard. They were both apparelled in a white and black tuxedo, blending with the enchanting ambiance behind them.
All three of them were beaming like twinkling stars as Blaze’s Roll Royce slowly made a semi-circular turn around the captivating water fountain, stopping a few metres in front of them.
Fred briskly stepped out of the car and made his way around it to open the rear door directly opposite Maria while Blaze climbed down from the other side unassisted. He extended his hand toward Amelia as she graciously climbed out, beaming like a Christmas light at the sight of Maria.
“Amelia!” Maria excitedly made her way to her beautiful daughter-in-law, arms opened wide to receive her.
“Good evening, Mrs Anderson and thanks for inviting me to your lovely home,” Amelia said respectfully, while admiring the pretty angel before her, wondering how the hell she gave birth to a devil for a son.
They both embraced warmly, with Maria kissing either side of Amelia’s cheek.
“I will appreciate it if you lose the formality and just call me mum,” Maria said in the sweetest and kindest voice, melting Amelia’s troubled heart.
“Okay, mum.” Amelia nodded her head, embracing Maria again. “Sorry, I didn’t reply to your messages, I wasn’t with my phone.”
“It’s fine. The most important thing is that you came and I am grateful.” Maria kissed Amelia on the side of her neck like a loving mother would do, making Amelia forget herself for a moment.
Inhaling the relaxing and refreshing blend of Maria’s fruity fragrance, Amelia would her remained in Maria’s arms forever if Blaze hadn’t cleared his throat.
“Oh …sorry.” Amelia felt bashful as she reluctantly pulled away from Maria’s arms, her cheeks giving off a soft pinkish glow.
“You don’t have to be sorry about anything, my dear,” Maria said sweetly. “I also had no plans of releasing you. Don’t mind the jealous grumpy young man behind you.”
“I’m not jealous, mum.”
Amelia chuckled softly, as she imagined Blaze scowling behind her.
“By the way, you look so stunning and your home is so magnificent like anything I’ve ever seen,” Amelia said holding Maria’s hands.
“Aww…you are too kind with your sweet words my dear. But all of this is nothing compared to your angelic beauty. I’m sure my son has been drooling over you all through the ride here.” Maria smiled, eying Blaze, who was pretending as if he wasn’t listening to her.
“If only you have the gift of sight to see how he mistreats me.” Amelia wanted to say but instead chuckled.
“Welcome to our humble home, Amelia.” Henry came forward unable to wait for the formal introduction any longer.
“Henry…” Amelia was tempted to hug him but feared Blaze’s jealous reaction.
Henry took Amelia’s right hand and raised it to his lips holding her shimmering gaze. “You look absolutely breathtaking.” He said in a subtle voice, also melting Amelia’s heart further.
Amelia could feel butterflies fluttering inside her stomach as Henry planted a soft kiss on the back of her hand. But before she had time to respond, her jealous husband snatched her hand from Henry’s gentle hold, glaring threateningly at the latter.
“I’m sure you’ve already met Henry,” Blaze said stroking the back of Amelia’s hand where Henry had kissed her as if he was trying his best to wipe the innocent gesture from her memory.
Amelia ignored Blaze’s somewhat childish behaviour, as she spoke softly to Henry. “Thanks for the compliment, Henry. You are looking quite the charmer yourself.”
A tiny trace of anger and jealousy flashed across Blaze’s eyes. He didn’t recall Amelia complimenting him even though he caught her on several occasions admiring him. But here she was complimenting Henry.
“You’re too kind.” Henry stepped aside for Eugene to come forward.
“Amy, meet my young and troublesome cousin, Eugene Anderson.”
“Amy!” Amelia echoed in her heart, amused at Blaze’s pitiful attempt at fondness. “Hello, Eugene. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“The pleasure is all mine, sister-in-law… I mean, Amy…I mean, Amelia. My big cousin’s brother didn’t tell me that he was bringing home an angel. I could have prepared for a grand reception.”

“Aww…you are so cute,” Amelia said, laughing, taking an instant liking to Eugene.
“Amelia, come with me.” Maria took Amelia from her son’s jealous hold and led her into the mansion.
“Wow! Mum, your home looks amazing.” Amelia feasted her eyes on the luxury interior furnishings, the state-of-the-art decor and the mesmerising artist display on the wall, all culminating in an opulent haven. Her eyes sparkled with admiration at the magnificent crystal chandelier hanging down from the high ceilings, the expansive windows for natural light, and the impressive views.
“Thank you,” Maria replied, patting her on the hand, as they made their way towards the dining room section. “I hope you came with a large appetite because I made arrangements for a feast to welcome my friend and daughter.”
“I’m already salivating,” Amelia replied, beaming as they were approached by a mature man in a two-piece suit uniform with a white inner shirt and a bow tie.
“Good evening, Madam Anderson.” The renowned and loyal butler of the Anderson home greeted while signalling at other uniformed maids to bring the tray holding flutes of champagne forward.
“Thank you, Oliver.” Maria gestured for Oliver to serve Amelia first before everyone else.
“Thank, you.” Amelia smiled in appreciation feeling right at home. She slowly took a sip of her drink, as Maria led her towards the head of the table.
“Wow, are we expecting more people?” Amelia asked, staring at the various mouth-watering delicacies adorning the long rectangle dining table for twelve.
“No, my dear. This is all for you.” Maria signalled Blaze and the latter pulled out Amelia’s chair first, acting impressively before his mother.
“Aww… I feel so special. Thank you, Mum.” Amelia acknowledged Blaze briefly before taking her seat.
“You are special, my dear.” Maria took her seat at the head of the table.
