Chapter 100: A Successful Hunt
*ROAAAAARRR*

Shye immediately ran outside the lair after successfully pissing the target off, behind him was a 2-meter-tall greenish-brown grizzly bear with jade-colored paws.

The bear looked so furious that one could only imagine what a human could do to it to anger the creature this badly.

What better way to anger a sleeping bear than to poke its butt with a skill-empowered attack from two greatswords.

While he was on the run, Shye looked at Wendy and waved his hands, signaling her to execute the plan.

“Wendy! Now!”

After hearing Shye’s signal, Wendy started casting one of her buff skills, [Boost Strength Lv.2].

Shye already received [Boost Agility Lv.2] from Wendy before he went inside the cave and that’s why he’s managing to easily outrun the speed-type grizzly right now.

However, it would be a death sentence for him to fight the grizzly in a closed space so he had to lure it out of its lair before the two of them could start fighting it.

Shye directly ran towards Wendy and just as she completed casting [Boost Strength Lv.2], Shye was already in front of her.

*SHING*

Immediately after Shye felt the effects of the buff skill, he turned around and fought the grizzly head-on while Wendy retreated and circled around the bear.

*CLANG*

“TCH! Who said this thing was weak?!”

Shye complained as he was sent sliding back after a head-on collision against the Jadepaw Grizzly.

He initially thought that the bear should only be slightly stronger than the tri-horned rhino in terms of strength since the adventurer encyclopedia stated that it was built for speed.

However, who would’ve thought that even his buffed-up state was still insufficient to fight against the grizzly head-on?

Today was the day Shye understood the reason why bears were considered a symbol of strength.

Heck, even speed-type bears were this strong so he couldn’t help but shudder as he thought about the other power-type species of bear-type creatures.

Fortunately, he decided to confront the grizzly today or he might die in the future due to overestimation of his raw strength.

“HAAAAAH!!”

Unfortunately, Shye had to take the initiative to attack because once the buff skills ran out, it would be difficult for them to complete the quest without paying a huge price.

*ROAAAAARR*

The Jadepaw Grizzly roared at the top of its lungs before pouncing towards Shye like an agile leopard.

‘What the f–?!’

Fortunately, Shye was able to dodge to the side before using one of his skills, [Destructive Chop Lv.2], to deal moderate damage to the grizzly.

The grizzly roared in pain, but not for long as it immediately got back to attacking Shye.

“Wendy!”

*SHING*

Fortunately for Shye, a timely barrier from Wendy suddenly appeared and protected him from a quick paw swipe from the grizzly just as the agility buff ran out.

Since his agility returned to its original value, Shye had no choice but to fight a dangerous head-on fight against the grizzly.

‘Chance!’

While the bear was still a bit confused after its paw was blocked by the barrier, Shye immediately used [Dash Lv.3] to instantly appear below the grizzly’s soft belly.

He then used [Power Slash Lv.3] to carve a deep wound on the Jadepaw Grizzly’s belly.

*ROOOOOAAAAAARR*

The grizzly roared in pain as both of Shye’s greatswords slashed deep into its belly making its blood gush out in alarming volume.

Unfortunately, there was no time for him to escape since he was right below the grizzly.

*BANG*

The bear tried to smash him using both of its front paws but fortunately, Shye was able to activate [Stoic Lv.3] on time or he might’ve died on the spot.

“Puhaaahh…”

Shye spat out blood as he narrowly avoided death by using the 60% damage reduction of [Stoic Lv.3].

The Jadepaw Grizzly was a (D) ranked creature but it wasn’t just a simple (D) ranked, it was one of the apex predators in the intermediate adventurer zone so Shye and Wendy wouldn’t be able to avoid a tough battle even though both of them were really strong for their age.

Still, Shye valiantly stood in front of the grizzly and counterattacked after successfully tanking a deadly blow. He then used [Destructive Chop Lv.2] in an attempt to finish off the Jadepaw Grizzly but alas! The bear jumped and nimbly dodged as if it was expecting his attack.

The Jadepaw grizzly then tried to drop down on him to crush him using its sheer weight.

‘Shit! How the hell did this huge ass bear dodge my attack?!’

Shye complained in disbelief as he desperately looked around for a way out of this sticky situation.

He tried using [Dash Lv.3] to escape but no magic circles appeared around his legs meaning that the skill was still on cooldown.

‘Shit! Think! Think!’

Still, he didn’t give up and continued looking around for a solution, fortunately, when his eyes saw Wendy who had a worried expression on her face, he suddenly got an idea.

Shye used his other gap closer skill, [Rush Stab Lv.2] on Wendy.

Naturally, the inexperienced Wendy panicked upon realizing that Shye was rushing towards her with a fierce expression on his face.

She thought that he was angry at her for not being able to provide help at a crucial moment.

Of course, Shye wasn’t angry at her, he just had no other choice but to use [Rush Stab Lv.2] with Wendy as the target to avoid the grizzly’s body slam attack.

Fortunately, just as Shye expected, Wendy did what she always does when she is panicking.

She held her life staff like a baseball bat and used [Knockback Lv.3] as she smacked Shye with it to send him flying back to the Jadepaw Grizzly which automatically redirected his skill, [Rush Stab Lv.2], to the creature.

“Great job, Wendy!!”

*SPURT*

A huge bear’s head flew through the air as its headless body collapsed to the ground with a thud.

[Congratulations on completing the regular quest: Hunt: Jadepaw Grizzly! You’ve earned 1500 points as a reward!]

‘Pheww…’

Shye took a deep breath and wiped the sweat on his forehead before turning around to look at Wendy. He then gave her a huge thumbs up which changed her facial expression from one of confusion to that of happiness.

Seeing another party member almost die right in front of her made her go through a roller coaster of emotions but fortunately, nothing bad happened to both of them and they were able to successfully take down a dangerous (D) ranked apex creature.

The battle only went on for a few minutes, however, the pace was intense and the two of them were forced to bring out all of their skills in addition to utilizing their brain to outwit and defeat the grizzly.
