Chapter 250: Partying Up With The Extrovert
“Hey, hey, are you looking for a quest?”
“What’s your adventurer rank? What’s your class?”
“Hey! Don’t ignore me! How about we go on a quest together huh? Hey!”
Shye’s patience, already stretched thin, wore even thinner. However, he restrained himself from lashing out at the young woman, recognizing his current struggles with anger management.
“Haaah…what do you want? Can’t you see I’m busy? And no, I need all the contribution points in a quest so I won’t be going on a quest with you…” Shye sighed as he explained his reasons patiently without revealing too much information, hoping to usher the young woman away as politely as possible
What he didn’t expect was how adamant the young woman would be in befriending him.
“Oh, come on don’t say that…Please, just one quest? All of my friends’ parties are full now since I recently tried to embark on a solo quest to advance to the next rank and it was boring as heck! Come on, just this once, next time I’ll join another party.”
‘WOULD BOREDOM KILL YOU?! WHY DON’T YOU JUST MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND JOIN THEIR PARTIES?!’ Shye inwardly raged, failing to recognize that what occupied his thoughts mirrored Seira’s current actions. “Haaah, alright then, if you promise to leave me alone in the future, then I shall go with you this one time.”
“I promise! Alright then, how about we introduce ourselves? I’m Seira Ramah, a recently promoted platinum-ranked adventurer of the warrior class.” Seira exclaimed with enthusiasm, reaching out her arms in an attempt to initiate a handshake with Shye.
Smiling helplessly as he shrugged his shoulders, Shye extended his arms and shook Seira’s hands.
He didn’t sense even a bit of hostility from this friendly guildmate so partying up with her for one quest shouldn’t hurt.
“Shye Crowley, a gold-ranked mage.”
“Well then, Shye. Oh wait, can I call you Shye?”
“Do as you wish.”
“Okay then, Shye, you can choose whatever quest you want, I’ll be right over there to finish my meal so call me after choosing one.”
“Alright.”
After a quick conversation, Shye once again crossed his arms over his chest to read the details of various (C) ranked quests.
Initially, he planned to take a (C-) ranked quest because he planned to embark on a few solo quests as a mage to train, allowing him to once again shock everyone by having a subclass at such a young age.
This is also why he decided to accept Seira’s party invitation.
After all, how would rumors about him being a mage spread inside the guild if none of his guildmates knew?
Moreover, Seira seemed to be the blabbermouth type so she was the perfect person for the job.
Patiently reading through each yellow scroll, Shye finally found a suitable one, neither too dangerous nor too easy.

‘Hmmm…Haemotoxin Vipers huh…this quest seems to be the perfect fit…’ Shye thought, extending his hands to grab the quest scroll.
This time, no one dared to make trouble for him for fear of suffering the same fate as Candor.
Meanwhile, at Seira’s table…
“No way! How did you manage to invite that arrogant prick to go adventuring with you?!” one of Seira’s friends asked, his countenance one of utter disbelief.
“What? Orson! What are you talking about? He’s not arrogant in the slightest! In my view, he’s actually quite pleasant. So, where did you get the idea that he’s some kind of arrogant jerk?” Seira responded, expressing her own disbelief at her friend Orson’s perception of Shye.
“What do you mean?! That guy’s the arrogant rookie everyone is talking about. Also, didn’t you agree that what he did to Candor was a bit ruthless?!” Orson retorted, visibly a bit worked up.
He was among those who formed a negative opinion of Shye solely based on the rumors circulating about how Candor, a seasoned member of the guild, was shamefully humiliated by a newcomer.
In the version Orson heard about, Candor did nothing wrong, yet, Shye still mercilessly humiliated him.
Well, Shye couldn’t really fault him for it, considering that the rumors were spread by those who harbored animosity toward him, portraying him as the “vicious-mouthed and arrogant” rookie.
“Oh, that’s him? Hmm…but based on our interaction, he’s truly not arrogant…maybe Candor provoked him first? You know him…the guy’s quite the troublemaker!” Seira responded.
Just when Orson was about to retort again, the “vicious-mouthed and arrogant” rookie’s voice sounded beside their table, almost causing him to experience a cardiac arrest.
“Hey, Seira, I’m done choosing a quest, let’s have it registered.”
“Oh? Shye, let’s go then. See you, Orson.”
After successfully calling Seira from the lobby, the two of them walked towards the quest counter to have the chosen quest registered under their names.
Shye actually overheard a fair amount of Orson and Seira’s conversation, which is why he understood why Seira was unusually quiet as they made their way toward Receptionist Aya’s counter.
He didn’t mind though, in fact, he preferred the silent Seira.
Arriving at the quest counter a short while later, Shye handed the yellow quest scroll over to Miss Aya, enabling her to register the quest under his and Seira’s name in just a few seconds.
“All set, Sir Crowley, Miss Ramah. I wish both of you the best of luck!”
“Thank you, Miss Aya,” Shye responded, giving Aya a slight bow before casting a glance at Seira. “Wait for me outside the guild. I just need to use the restroom for a moment.”
“Okay,” Seira replied before walking towards the branch headquarters’ exit while whistling a merry tune.
As for Shye, he quickly headed to the bathroom and chose an empty cubicle.
