Chapter 302: Quest Complaint
“H-Hello, Sir Crowley…I see that you’re back early…w-where’s Miss Seira?”
Seeing that Shye was alone, Shauna, the rewards receptionist couldn’t help but ask nervously.
Lately, it’s become customary among the guild gossipers to learn which quest Shye has taken. The reason for this is that, despite always selecting quests far beyond his league, they never appear on the guild’s quest contention board.
Always, without fail, the quest would be registered under his name immediately.
Naturally, this fact stirred up controversy amongst the guildsmen, a myriad of theories popping up here and there as they tried to deduce who Shye was and why he was so special.
As someone who practically lives and breathes inside the guild, it was inevitable for Shauna to know that the quest undertaken by Shye and Seira was a bit too dangerous this time—not even close to the Winged Boarger one he completed a few days ago.
Hence, seeing him back so early and…alone, made Shauna’s heart race.
She was rather fond of the congenial Seira and news of her death would genuinely make her sad.
Breathing heavily as he waited for Shye’s answer, Shauna swallowed.
Of course, Shye noticed her subtle anxiety and he couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly, pondering whether to play a prank on her or not.
In the end, he decided to do it.
There’s no harm in having a little fun.
Feigning a rather sad and difficult expression, Shye clenched his fists, staying silent for a few seconds as he looked at the ground.
“I-I see…so Miss Seira…” Shauna assumed, a sad expression emerging on her pretty face.
“Seira…is…looking for a skill cylinder. She wants to learn a few skills.” Shye replied, trying hard to suppress his laugh shortly after seeing Shauna’s dumbfounded expression.
“Ahh! Sir Crowley! You’re so mean! Oh! I thought Miss Seira was…A-Anyway, please don’t do that again!” Shauna unintentionally exclaimed in frustration and relief, not expecting the notorious rookie to play pranks on her.
“Hahahaha! I’m sorry, I won’t do it again, forgive me, Miss Shauna. I just found your worried expression rather adorable and amusing.” Shye said in all honesty, not intending to flirt with Shauna at all.
Unfortunately, he didn’t expect that using the word adorable would make Shauna blush.
‘C-Crap…Why am I so stupid when it comes to matters like this?!’ Shye inwardly cursed, realizing that he unintentionally flirted with the rewards receptionist.
The guildsmen’s hubbub didn’t help.
“Damn, isn’t this rookie too talented? Rizzing up even the receptionists…”
“Huh? What does rizz even mean? Are you sure you’re not born in the wrong era? Anyway, I agree with you. No one has ever been able to make the receptionists blush. Not even the emeralds!”
“Holy crap, I think I’m becoming a fan of this Shye Crowley for real!”
Hearing the guildsmen’s not-so-discreet gossip, Shye felt his head throb, regretting his word choices.
He doesn’t have the energy and the patience to explain himself, hence, with a deep sigh, Shye changed the topic.
“Uhh…By the way, Miss Shauna, I’m here to complain.” He said with a stern expression, not concealing the fact that there was something about the quest that made him unhappy.
“C-Complain? What’s wrong, Sir Crowley? Did something wrong go with the quest?” Shauna asked with a slightly worried tone.
The quest registration and rewards system had always been the same and this has been the first complaint she received in quite a while.
“Yes, actually, things went like this…”
Shye spoke at length, patiently detailing what had occurred in a deliberately loud voice, ensuring that the guild members could easily overhear his conversation with Shauna.

“H-Holy crap, defeating a Goblin Chieftain and a Goblin High Shaman in a single battle?! This rookie is simply too good at boasting!”
“Nahh…brother, there’s just no way!”
“Damn! Seira’s cold like that?”
Naturally, Shye’s stories sounded outlandish in their ears and they found it very difficult to believe him—some of them even thought that he was just trying to impress Shauna with nonsensical lies.
However, when Shye placed two sack bags with a green-colored base and a recording crystal on Shauna’s countertop, their doubtful expressions turned into one of stupefaction.
“No…there’s just no way what he just said was true…”
Deny it hard as they might, the facts were right in front of their eyes.
Their eyes widened in utter shock and disbelief as Shye opened the two sack bags and revealed their contents: two green heads—both the same size as a human’s.
Just from the massive size of both heads, they all knew that these two goblins were extremely dangerous creatures.
A normal goblin’s head wasn’t that large, after all.
“I-I acknowledge your concern, Sir Crowley, and I believe it’s valid. However, I lack the authority to decide on such matters. Please accompany me to the guild master’s office. The guild master will address this issue with you.” Shauna replied, momentarily leaving her post to guide Shye toward the guild master’s office.
After walking for around three minutes, the two of them arrived in front of a majestic door made of pure, tough adamantite.
Decorated with opulent and visually pleasing gemstones, the emblem of Raven’s Blade was intricately carved, with one half on each door, emanating a sense of pride and dignity.
Shauna then knocked at the huge door.
“Guild Master, it’s me, Shauna. I have something to report.”
“Come in.”
Obtaining permission from Corvus, Shauna entered, temporarily leaving Shye outside the office to explain Shye’s complaint.
Guild Master Corvus was someone who balanced both heart and logic, so he readily grasped why Shye lodged a quest complaint.
It would indeed be unjust to receive such paltry rewards for a quest of such difficulty.
“Hmm…I understand. Thanks for your hard work, Shauna. You may now return to your post. Tell Shye Crowley to enter.”
“Yes, Guild Master.”
Offering a profound bow to Corvus, Shauna left the office, motioning for Shye to come in before returning to her post.
Shye nodded gratefully at Shauna before taking one deep breath, grabbing the guild master office’s right door handle soon after.
‘Now, let’s find out what my guild master looks like and observe his reaction to my complaint.’
