Chapter 320: Destroying an Apex (B-) Creature
‘Damn, this creature looks way too creepy, no?’ Shye inwardly thought as he gazed at the Titanium Demon Ape.
It looked strong.
At a height of 2.25 meters, its body resembled that of a gorilla, while its head looked similar to that of an orangutan’s, adorned with two short horns protruding from either side of its forehead.
Its appearance was profoundly unsettling, especially amplified by the lazy yet faintly smiling expression and droopy eyes.
‘Appraisal.’

‘What an absolute f*cking machine of a monstrous creature!’ Shye inwardly exclaimed upon seeing the ridiculous stats of the Titanium Demon Ape. ‘250 points on vitality? You’ve got to be kidding me…How is this thing only (B-) ranked?!’
Shye didn’t want to fight the darned thing, absolutely despising the lethargic yet slightly confident look on its face.
The creature looked like it would be able to predict all of his attacks and kill him in a few seconds!
He knew that this impression of his would only remain an impression though as the creature clearly didn’t have a high intelligence stat and was obviously built for head-on battles.
Forcefully shaking off the doubts in his head, Shye decided to strike first.
‘Dash!’
*FWOOSH*
Leaves slightly rustled as Shye pushed off from a tree branch, charging straight towards the Titanium Demon Ape with a resolute look.
‘If even those bloody cows could sense my attack, there’s no way this thing wouldn’t…’ Shye inwardly thought, deciding to finally try one of his new skills. ‘Blade of Despair!’
*SHING!*
Promptly after Shye’s hunch about the ape noticing his attack came true, a mix of black and purple aura shrouded both of his greatswords, appearing extremely menacing.
However, since the ape sensed no threat from Shye’s dark-coated greatswords, it chose to disregard the strike and instead aimed to incapacitate the young adventurer with a single swift yet powerful punch.

To the Titanium Demon Ape’s misfortune, Shye had the element of surprise on his side.
Hence, before the creature could even initiate its punching motion, Shye swiftly moved past it, his sword slicing smoothly through the ape’s body.
Shockingly, nothing seemed to have happened, leaving the demonic primate utterly confused.
However, after around two more seconds, the Blade of Despair’s effect kicked in, destroying a sizable chunk of the primates’ stamina and small mana pool.
The Titanium Demon Ape started breathing rather raggedly while beads of sweat slowly formed on its creepy face.
After feeling the unique warrior skill’s effects, the ape now recognized the danger posed by Shye’s black and purple blades.
Gazing at the young adventurer with equal parts ferociousness and wary, the demonic ape stalked Shye, walking closer and closer with its unsettling look.
Shye took a deep breath.
The ape’s harrowing expression still sent chills down his spine, however, Shye knew that he would have to face even more scary-looking creatures in the future.
He had to overcome his fear of spine-chilling creatures.
As the Titanium Demon Ape reached the optimal distance, Shye once again charged forth, aiming to slash at the ape’s hind legs.
This time, the ape was ready.
With its arms entering a back fist motion, it swiped low, aiming to strike the left side of Shye’s body.
This attack served two purposes.
The first was to force Shye to either dodge or fight it head-on in a contest of strength.
The Second was to further study the effects of the black and purple-coated greatswords.
‘Nice, it seems that this ape still doesn’t fully understand the effects of my skill…”
Choosing to attack the confident ape’s forearms instead, Shye jumped, masterfully dodging the fist before rotating mid-air to slash at the Titanium Demon Ape’s forearm.
Again, the ape was confused.
It couldn’t fathom how the sword managed to cut through its fur which was almost as tough as titanium.
“OOAAOHH…HOOHH…HOOHH…”
After two seconds, the effects of the blade once again kicked in, causing the ape to feel even more exhausted—its head starting to slightly throb in pain as its mana reserves ran low.
Unfortunately, the ape wasn’t able to figure out that the skill was unblockable, hence, it completely suffered under Shye’s relentless assault, masterfully dodging everything the ape threw while chipping away at the demonic primate’s mana and stamina with compact yet forceful slashes.
Within a mere five minutes, the ape struggled to concentrate as excruciating pain seared through its head, its mana reserves depleted completely—its absurdly high stamina—now running low, causing it to pant heavily in exhaustion.
Since the ape’s movement was now way slower compared to when the fight began, Shye dared to fight it head-on, experimenting with the Blade of Despair’s effects.
He kept the skill activated on the Darkripper in his left hand while deactivating it on the Nightbringer in his right.
‘Now, let’s dance you ugly monkey!’
Surging with confidence, Shye stood in front of the Titanium Demon Ape, skillfully ducking to dodge the ape’s common skill, [Primate Hook Lv.5], which was now the only remaining activatable skill in its arsenal as its stamina was close to hitting zero.
He then tried slashing both greatswords upwards—one easily passing through while one remained embedded in the skin, leaving Shye in an awkward position.
If not for the ape’s utter exhaustion he would for sure be smashed by the demonic primate’s downward punch.
‘Crap…That was close…’
Still, after experiencing the awkward sensation of one blade passing through while the other didn’t, Shye temporarily stopped experimenting, deciding to finish the ape off.
Deactivating Blade of Despair on both greatswords, Shye once again stood his ground in front of the ape who was breathing heavily while looking at him in utter fury.
Albeit tired, the ape continuously attacked.
Unfortunately, Shye was simply too fast for such exhausted attacks, allowing him to dodge the ape’s punches and hammer fists by gracefully jumping, sidestepping, and ducking, making the ape even more tired as its attack hit nothing but air.
In the middle of each dodge, Shye masterfully sneaked in a few counterattacks, wounding the tough ape all over its body.
Unfortunately, his raw strength wasn’t enough to pierce deep into the Titanium Demon Ape’s tough body.
Hence, Shye activated both of his now level 3 [Fallen] skills—his trump cards.
The ape’s heart was momentarily enveloped by fear as a pair of now black-colored, rotting mana wings emerged from Shye’s back, followed by a blood-curdling how which resembled those of ancient demons, and since the ape’s genetics were closely related to demons, it was intensely affected by the howl—fearing it way more than other creatures.
As warm energy brought about by the temporary attribute buffs of the howl coursed through Shye’s body, he felt more confident than ever.
The confidence wasn’t unfounded though as with just a single, [Power Slash Lv.5]-empowered slash, an enormous head hurtled through the air, prompting black, viscous blood to spurt out weakly from the headless neck.
Shortly after, the ape’s body collapsed on the ground.
