Chapter 347: Idiotic Challengers
Shye was impressed by Mateo’s trump card.
However, that was it.
No matter what Mateo does, Shye wouldn’t be threatened by him, especially now that Shye’s attribute was quite literally way off the charts compared to his adventurer rank.
Shye believed that he was strong enough to contend against the strongest adventurers in Raven’s Blade Balkrow Branch.
Hence, there was no way this cringe-a*s platinums would have a chance to defeat him.
Hilariously though, it seemed that Mateo had other plans in his head as he shot a cold, mocking smile towards Shye right after his victory was announced.
A stifled laugh escaped Shye’s mouth upon noticing the stupid expression on Mateo’s face.
He thought Mateo was someone with a decent personality, and he had no intentions of humiliating him.
However, since the guy was begging for humiliation, Shye would happily accommodate his wishes.
Not hesitating to fire back with a straight-up middle finger + mocking smile combo, his actions were inevitably noticed by a few people in the crowd.
“H-Hey! Look! Look at Shye Crowley!”
“Hahahaha! I’ve never seen such a straightforward rookie. This guy will never be bullied in the future.”
“Hmmph! Only in his first year as an adventurer and he’s already this arrogant?! I hope Mateo Flameheart teaches him a lesson!”
“Hahaha! You’re delusional! You think this guy is so simple? If you saw his matches in the Adventurer Academy Competition, you wouldn’t be speaking this way!”
“Indeed, people like him are special…”
As for Mateo, the target of Shye’s blatant mockery and disrespect, he was utterly fuming.
Why wouldn’t he when he was hit by a vicious combo?
Subsequently, when he was about to retaliate with a vicious middle finger of his own, the guy had already looked away, giving him zero chance to recover his lost face.
‘YOU LITTLE BASTARD!! I’LL SHOW YOU WHY YOU SHOULD RESPECT SOMEONE OLDER THAN YOU!’
Mateo’s match signaled the end of the first round of matches.
Now, only 16 rookies remain—four from Shye’s generation.
After a quick five-minute break to decide the order of the matches, Corey’s vibrant voice once again sounded.
“What a great first round of matches! Adventurers from Raven’s Blade are truly in a league of their own!” He exclaimed, once again eliciting irked snorts from the adventurers from other, higher-ranked guilds. “Now, let’s begin the second round of matches!”
The first match was between Megan Wolfe, the second-ranked rookie from Shye’s generation, and George Yannsen, the ninth-ranked Raven’s Blade rookie in terms of total contribution points.
Megan was a mage while George was an archer.
Hence, a fierce projectile battle ensued after the referee announced the start of their match.
Embers and arrow rays lingered in the air, painting the stage in a colorful chaos of myriad elements, yet, somehow, both remained unscathed.
Upon taking a closer look, one would notice how gracefully both rookies dodged the other’s attacks—teleporting, sidestepping, and tumbling out of each projectile’s way with unmatched finesse.
However, such a fast-paced, intense match would inevitably burn the mana and stamina reserves of both fighters at an insane rate.
Sure enough, after only around five minutes of battling at the same intense pace, both rookies panted in exhaustion.

The projectiles didn’t stop flying though.
Although the fighters’ graceful maneuvers weren’t so graceful anymore, the two were still able to barely dodge.
Realizing that nothing would happen should both of them hide their trump cards, a resolute expression appeared on Megan and George’s faces.
“Hmmph! You should’ve realized that nothing would happen if things continued like this, correct? How about we end this with a direct battle, rookie?”
“Hmmph! Aren’t you also a rookie yourself? Fine. I’m done playing games with ugly men like you. Let’s end this!”
‘Uninterrupted Casting!’
Both stepping back to cast their ultimate skills at the optimal distance, elements roared.
Megan seemed to be casting some sort of multi-element skill as gusts of wind, embers, and lightning spun around her staff.
On the other hand, George’s skill harnessed the power of wind alone to rotate the mana arrow at an absurd speed, generating gusts as its piercing power rose to unprecedented levels.
The conclusion of the fight was about to be decided in the next few moments.
Two seconds later, it was George who finished casting his ultimate skill first.
Letting go of the bowstrings, the vicious rotating arrow accompanied by a howling gale flew towards Megan, aiming to take her simulated life.
It should’ve been easy for the rotating arrow to rip Megan apart, however, she suddenly disappeared, reappearing in front of George the next moment.
“Goodbye, you ugly man!”
*FWOOOSH!* *BOOM!*
An ear-rending explosion occurred, eliciting screams from some of the weaker-hearted individuals in the crowd as a tri-colored ball exploded right in front of George’s face, turning him into an azure ray of light.
Due to how huge the explosion was, everyone thought that Megan herself would be transported out of the dome herself.
However, for some reason, she stood right where she was—unscathed and smiling mockingly towards George who was gnashing his teeth so hard in frustration.
He couldn’t believe he lost to a rookie in her first year!
Megan didn’t continue mocking George for a long time though, opting to shoot instead a challenging gaze and a confident smirk towards Shye as though saying: ‘You think I’ll lose to you in a battle of mages? Fat chance!’
Shye was watching her match, thus, he inevitably noticed the idiotic expression on her face.
‘Hahahaha! This idiot truly amuses me. I’ll take my time teaching you a lesson not to act so idiotic later…’ Shye mused as he serenely returned Megan’s gaze with a smile.
His peaceful expression irked Megan, however, she knew better than to show her emotions.
Thus, she opted to look away lest the rage in her heart burgeoned further.
Realizing that Megan already looked away, Shye also did the same.
After all, empty talk was useless and he preferred hands-on faceslapping over a war of words.
