‘Hoh? Three unique skills? That’s pretty crazy…This guy was not only born with a silver spoon but a gold one…’ Shye mused, unknowingly looking straight at Percy with intrigued eyes. ‘This guy’s attributes are well rounded too. Explains how he was able to endure Mateo’s onslaught for so long…’
“Ah…Shye Crowley, the adventurer academy competition’s legend. We finally met. I’ve heard of your greatness for quite a while.” Percy said with a hint of a mocking tone—one that would be impossible to detect for those who were not perceptive enough.
As for Shye, with his high intelligence and wisdom stat, it would be impossible for him to not detect such hints.
“Ah, is that so? Unfortunately, I haven’t heard from you much. I apologize. Your feats must’ve been rather mediocre. However, worry not as I will still fight you to the best of my abilities.” Shye “sincerely” said with a pat on his chest.
Hearing Shye’s unexpected reply, Percy fumed inwardly.
He wanted to skin Shye alive.
Yet, his mistaken belief in his own cool, calm, and mysterious persona held him back from even raging.
As a result, Percy had no choice but to swallow his anger and let it boil inside him, causing unnecessary additional stress to himself.
The guy was enduring everything for the stupid reason of keeping up appearances which literally didn’t even exist in the first place as there were more than a few times he lost control of his emotion, letting heartless mocking smiles slip out here and there.
He simply wasn’t cut out for it.
Seeing the frozen smile on Percy’s face, Shye laughed inwardly.
‘You want to see whose mouth is more vicious? You’re ten years too early!’
Disoriented, Percy responded absentmindedly with, “Th-Thanks, I’ll try my best too,” inadvertently casting himself in a foolish light both to Shye and in his own eyes.
“Pfft!”
Shye’s stifled laughter at his stupid reply almost became the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
Ultimately though, Percy was able to endure, remaining steadfast in his futile endeavor.

Naturally, Shye couldn’t care less about Percy’s internal struggles, all he cared about was his glorious victory in their war of words.
Stepping back a little, Shye took out two elemental staffs—one ruby tier and one gold tier.
Well, he only had one high-grade ruby-tier elemental staff relic so he didn’t have any other choice than to pull out one of his gold-tier ones.
“Hoh, you only used one staff against the others. I am rather honored that you chose to immediately pull out two against me.”
“Yes, you should indeed feel honored. I am a man of my word so I won’t lie to you. When I say I won’t hold back, then I won’t, no matter how mediocre you are.”
Sounds of gnashing teeth sounded at a moderate volume near Shye—enough for him to hear it but not for others.
‘Pfft! This idiot, why is he still pretending? He should just show everyone his true colors! It would feel much better!’
Fortunately for Percy, the referee didn’t wait much longer and announced the start of the match, giving him a chance to finally avenge the verbal grievances he suffered.
Violently splitting winds apart as he madly bolted forward, Percy ran in a zigzag, appearing very confident in advancing even while fully knowing that Shye could fire spells without chanting.
The guy wasn’t even as fast as Mateo.
Shye truly couldn’t help but wonder where Percy’s confidence was coming from.
‘Oh well then, eat this!’
‘Fireball!’ ‘Icicle Spears!’ ‘Rock Bullets!’ ‘Wind Cutters!’ ‘Earthen Spikes!’ ‘Ice Rain!’ …
Shye fired spells one after the other, causing various elements of fire, ice, earth, and wind, to roar and howl, creating massive shard explosions.
The delusional Percy…Was squarely hit by a few wind cutters and a fireball, causing considerable damage as he was forced to stop and temporarily retreat.
He needed a better plan.
As for Shye, he couldn’t help but laugh again.
‘This guy must be the ultimate poser I’ve ever f*cking seen…’
Clearly, the guy was underestimating him.
Well, he understands that the guy had a lot of gap-closer skills to hunt down mages and archers, however, the poser didn’t even use any.
Slowly, Shye was losing respect for his idiotic opponent.
Percy was indeed skilled but at least half of his focus was spent on keeping up appearances, if this poser could eliminate such foolish thoughts out of his mind, Shye believed that the guy would be even stronger.
Again disoriented that his plan to show off failed, Percy was almost hit by another one of Shye’s basic spells.
‘Tch, fine, I shall use my skills to close the gap!’
*FWOOSH!*
This time, winds parted even more violently as Percy used his dash skill, arriving instantly in front of Shye while ruthlessly brandishing his tachi downwards—empowered by a power slash.
“Whoops!” Shye playfully exclaimed as he reappeared a few meters away using his blink skill.
Naturally, Percy already expected this to happen, hence, he immediately followed up with [Rush Stab], and then [Chase].
Still, the distance remained the same as Shye burned through his repositioning skills.
He only had one remaining, however, he believed that Percy had no more gap closer skills.
Which was utterly wrong…
The next moment, Shye was momentarily caught off guard as Percy’s pretentious face appeared in front of him—adorned with the ugliest mocking smile he had ever seen.
“Die, Shye Crowley…”
