Chapter 479: Trap
“NO!! NO!! F*CK!!”
Seeing his one-star completion get teleported away right before his eyes, Shye couldn’t help but curse loudly.
Fortunately, despite their now smaller numbers, the undead army remained, charging straight at him and providing an outlet for his rage.
“DIE! DIE! DIE!!”
…Meanwhile, back at the observation office, armrests and tables received the brunt of the officers’ and the head director’s frustration.
Shye was so close to securing quest completion!
Yet, in the end, he failed to kill the wyrm before it was transported out of the area by the dungeon lord.
It was a bit frustrating indeed, especially for those who wished for the entire Valenzia Region to flourish.
However, with how things developed, they could only put their faith in Shye once more.
“L-Logan! Gavin! Calm down. He had a blood bug, didn’t he? He could always track that damned Dark Lycan so there’s no need to be impatient. I shall return to my office for the time being. Should he manage to track the black-furred general down, inform me immediately. Am I clear?”
“Y-Yes, Sir Belford.”
“Good.”
If even Belford, the pessimist, believed that Shye’s chances of still completing the quest were great, then there was no reason for them to panic, was there?
“MHMM!”
Clearing his throat, Gavin also gave the same instructions to Logan.
He also had some work to do so he couldn’t stay and watch Shye track the Dark Lycan down even though he wanted to.
‘Phew…calm down…Shye Crowley. You still have fifty-three days, no? No rush…No rush…’
Calming himself, Shye harvested the vampires’ claws and core, as well as the Black Gargoyles’ claws, horns, and wings, and stored them all in the system’s inventory.
Shortly after, he even took the time to set up the Small Camouflage Camp, take a short nap, and eat a warm ready-made seafood meal before releasing the blood bug.
Continuing on his journey, Shye once again followed the mana-powered bug.
As he did so, he slowly got used to its flying speed, allowing him to explore rooms and clearings without losing sight of the blood bug.
In reality, what Shye was doing was a bit risky, and even he knew so.
However, it was simply too difficult to let go of the chance to obtain high-tier herbs, crafting materials, and ingredients that could only be found inside a dungeon full of undead creatures.
Hence, Shye decided to risk it.
After all, even if he failed, he could always pay for his mistakes by buying another blood bug and giving it another drop of the black.
Though, naturally, that wouldn’t be ideal.
Still, despite searching random rooms for only short amounts of time, Shye was able to gather lots of rare items, making this special quest attempt extremely worth it even if he ultimately achieved a mere one-star completion.
The blood bug led him through several hidden entrances and exits for hours, yet, it didn’t seem to have the intention of stopping anytime soon.
Not until they arrived in front of a room with a ridiculously huge entrance.
The blood bug acted weirdly in front of the room, hovering right in front of it without the intention of entering.

‘Hmm? Is there something in this room?’
The room was dark, hence, Shye had to retrieve a huge piece of fluorescent crystal that had been sitting inside the system’s inventory for a long time.
He then threw the crystal inside the room, revealing what was inside.
‘H-Holy shit…I’m not dreaming, right?’
Inside the room were loads of monster cores, piles of gemstones and rare crafting materials, and assorted adventurer weapons.
It was a treasure trove for an upstart division leader like him.
Still, despite the tempting contents of the room, Shye had the presence of mind to not enter immediately.
He had lots of time left, and the treasures weren’t going anywhere.
The first idea that entered his mind was that there were traps that he had to go through before he could enter, thus, he decided to test it using the various methods he learned from Colzen Academy’s premium classes.
There seemed to be no traps, though, causing Shye to feel confused.
‘Then why is the blood bug not entering? Could it be that there’s some sort of detection interference within the room?’
Shye wasn’t sure.
However, since there were no traps, Shye retrieved the blood bug and entered the room first.
The treasures weren’t going to store themselves in the system’s inventory, after all.
‘I’ll be taking these then!’
Unbeknownst to Shye, not illuminating the entire room was his biggest mistake as above him, there was a seemingly motionless enormous creature.
Had he been able to witness its appearance, he would have realized that it was one of the creatures he had been looking for the entire time: the Bone Wyrm.
Only, it remained as unmoving as when it was transported away.
Not for long, though, as promptly after Shye touched a gemstone, the monstrous creature twitched.
Soon after, the mana chains that allowed the creature to remain suspended in the air dissipated, allowing it to fall directly onto Shye.
Luckily, it was dumb as heck.
As the creature roared, Shye quickly looked above, allowing him to retrieve both greatswords in time and block its attack.
“Puhaahk!”
It seemed to be a bad idea, though, as the wyrm was not only heavy but also absurdly strong.
As a result, Shye suffered from light internal injuries.
Unfortunately, the ambush didn’t end there as shortly after, a black blur emerged from the shadows and pounced silently towards Shye.
If not for his sharp instincts that allowed him to barely move his body to dodge a lethal blow, he would’ve already died.
Still, after three attempts, the Dark Lycan was finally able to land a clean hit on Shye—one that dealt actual damage to him.
‘C-Crap…’
Shye tried to kick the Dark Lycan, however, it seemed to have learned from its previous mistakes and immediately retreated after wounding him.
Well, it wasn’t a bad thing for Shye as it allowed him to also reposition using his [Blink] skill.
He was safe for now.
However, not for long, as shortly after catching his breath, a grating cackle echoed from a large square platform above the room’s entrance.
