Chapter 482: Final Stages
“Hahahaha! The variant lord is dead! You! Logan! Gavin! You shouldn’t be so pessimistic! Didn’t you tell me that Crowley was in a grim situation? It doesn’t look like that to me! Bahahahaha!”
Witnessing how Shye smoothly assassinated the dungeon lord right before its generals, Belford finally couldn’t keep up appearances and burst out laughing, even accusing his two underlings of being pessimists.
Naturally, the two couldn’t believe what they just heard. They wanted to retort.
Yet, how could they dare to speak up against their department head director when they were just officers and managers?
Poor Logan and Gavin could only swallow the injustice and bury it deep within their hearts!
…Meanwhile, back at the dungeon, Shye confidently faced the summoned abomination, who was also an (A-) ranked creature, and the two generals.
He was more at ease knowing that none of the three was smarter than him.
The darned old hag was simply too unnerving and unpleasant to look at, and now that it was dead, Shye naturally felt more at ease.
The overgrown mutt could somehow take command, however, its plans would never be as devious as the Dark Troll Sorceress’.
It also knew this and that was why it always depended on its lord for instructions.
Unfortunately, now that its lord was dead, it could only depend on itself if it wanted to survive.
Since achieving a three-star completion was one of Shye’s objectives, he naturally wouldn’t allow it to leave easily, or at all, if he could help it.
Shye knew that it would be hard to take down the scaredy mutt first, though, as there were two towering giants hot on his tail.
He had to take at least one of them down first before he could safely go for the Dark Lycan’s life.
‘I shall slay this Bone Wyrm first, then!’
Finally being able to unleash everything against the annoying wyrm and exact his revenge for its continuous attacks brought a smile to Shye’s face.
Unfortunately for him, now that the Dark Lycan was done running, things were bound to get harder.
Putting both of its hands together as though it was praying to its unholy Gods, the Dark Lycan used a huge portion of its mana to cast the spell taught to it by its lord, forcing the Bone Wyrm to cast its ultimate skill, [Unholy Domain].
Shortly after, before Shye could reach the Bone Wyrm, a sinister red domain emerged from beneath it, enveloping Shye and the two other monstrous creatures.
Naturally, Shye had no choice but to halt his attack and reposition to determine the effects of the domain first, otherwise, he might perish without even knowing why.
‘Hmm, I can still use my mana and I don’t feel weak at all…’ Shye pondered while cautiously looking at the three monstrous creatures who were slowly inching towards him, seemingly very confident in taking him down.
‘Hoh? Maybe it’s a buff-type domain for undead creatures?’
Shye’s guess was spot on, as the domain indeed increased all attributes of [Dark]-type creatures.
Humans, unfortunately, were widely recognized as non-elemental creatures, and if Shye wanted to receive the domain’s buffs, he had to use [Dark]-type skills.
‘Hmm, there’s no harm in trying…Fallen’s Wings! Fallen’s Howl!’
Summoning his rotten mana wings while howling to the skies like an ancient demon, Shye was pleasantly surprised as he felt warm energies coursing through his body.
He could still fight the three monstrous creatures without the domain’s buffs, but it was naturally better to battle them with it.
Not only would he nullify the generals’ advantages, but he might even surpass their bonuses, thanks to his [Greatsword Meister] talent, which would further enhance the buffs he would receive.
Noticing Shye’s strange smile, the Dark Lycan narrowed its eyes warily.
This time, however, it had no intention of retreating.

After all, the only way it could survive was by killing him with the help of its comrades.
…Allowing the Wyrm and the Abomination to attack first, the Dark Lycan disappeared into the shadows, patiently lurking to look for the optimal chance to strike.
‘Hmm, fine. Hide all you want. Later, once I catch you, I’ll slap the f*ck out of your annoying face!’
Temporarily ignoring the sneaky Dark Lycan, Shye shifted his attention to the battered Bone Wyrm.
‘Hmm, I already know the wyrm’s attack patterns…I should test the abomination out for a while…’
He was learning.
So far, every time he acted greedily inside the dungeon, he always found himself in dangerous situations.
Hence, Shye decided to take things slow.
All of them were cornered in the same room and things would probably remain that way for a few hours to a few days depending on the mana barrier’s potency.
Although everyone in the room could destroy the barrier, they would have to repeatedly attack it for a long time before being able to do so.
It was simply not possible to do such a thing in a combat scenario.
It was better to just kill one’s enemy/enemies first before destroying the mana barrier blocking the room’s exit.
Charging towards the abomination, Shye tested its capabilities by baiting its attacks, using its enormous body to block the stupid Wyrm’s attacks in the process.
Shockingly, though, the abomination seemed to be the toughest of the bunch, seemingly not sustaining any real damage despite receiving the Bone Wyrm’s destructive attacks.
Additionally, the vile abomination appeared skilled at using curses to gradually corner its opponents, finishing them off with its butcher knife once they were exhausted.
Luckily, Shye decided to test the waters first, otherwise, even if he managed to defeat all the monstrous creatures, he might end up with a severe curse.
‘Hmm…a scout-type, a tank-type, and a mindless bruiser-type, huh? That’s quite the lineup…However, not impossible to defeat!’ Shye mused as he gracefully fought the abomination and the Wyrm. ‘But if I can’t even wound this damned Abomination, then how can I defeat it?’
The gears of Shye’s brain shifted and turned as he tried his hardest to think of how to defeat the summoned creature.
Fortunately, with his high intelligence, it didn’t take long for him to find out what he should do.
‘The mana core!’
