Chapter 491: Internal Struggles
Shye breathed heavily.
He felt so disgusted with himself, yet, his little brother was full of life, seemingly ready to take action as soon as any girl entered his inn room.
It was a sickening feeling, especially since he was as helpless as a little lamb, forced to watch as his moral values shattered into a thousand pieces.
[Congratulations! Your Flashy Adventurer System has been successfully upgraded to level four!]
The notification that was the reason for his mental torture popped up in front of him.
He thought he would be happy about it, however, he felt nothing but slight abhorrence at the system window.
After all, it was the cause of such a huge mental suffering.
Yet, he couldn’t totally hate it, as the system gave him everything he currently had in life.
Completely unsure of how to feel, Shye crushed a short-range communication talisman and contacted Reginald, asking him to manage the division for the day as he was unwell.
He didn’t have the motivation to do anything.
Hence, he quickly disassembled the Small Camouflage Camp, stored it in the system’s inventory, and lay down on the bed.
Honestly, a part of him enjoyed the scenes before the utterly harrowing final moments of the dream.
However, he would never dare to even consider doing such a thing in reality as not only would he be unable to sleep at night after such sinful deeds, but he would also likely lose one of the most important people in his life if he attempted it.
Still, he didn’t know if he could still face the individuals who “entered” the room normally.
He hoped he would be able to control the new negative emotions brought about by the level four system before his friends arrived in Valenzia City.
If he had to take time to train his heart, then he would unhesitatingly do so.
Unbeknownst to Shye, it wasn’t his heart that he needed to train but another body part.
For the rest of the day, he lazed around, forcing himself to remember the sinful scenes once more to see how his body would react.
He had to get used to the scenes as much as possible. Otherwise, his little brother might embarrass him in public places.
Moreover, Shirley likely wouldn’t appreciate this new flaw of his, so he needed to bury it deep within himself—where no one would ever know.
Shye had mixed feelings as he recalled the scenes he encountered, however, most of them ended up with his little brother full of vigor, except for the last part.
It was a border he would never cross. He would rather die than do so.
Fortunately, his “mental training” seemed to pay off, and with each replay of the scenes in his mind, they gradually lost their hold over his heart and manhood.
Especially the scenes from girls who he didn’t know that much.
With a closer look, their actions seemed robotic and their eyes—lifeless, making it obvious that they were mere illusions.
As a result, there were only a few more scenes he found hard to forget.
‘Haaah…I’m tired. Guess I’ll sleep for the night.’
Confronting his mental dilemma and analyzing the cause of his distress seemed to be the right move, as despite nearly going crazy earlier in the day, he was able to sleep soundly at night.
It only took an entire afternoon for him to calm his heart and mind down.
Although he still felt guilty, he repeatedly reminded himself that it was the darned system’s fault and that if he had the choice, he would immediately reject Wendy’s advances and none of the other girls could have entered.

‘Yes…It’s the darned system’s fault…I wouldn’t have allowed things to proceed that way if I could move…’
With one final consoling thought, Shye’s troubled mind succumbed to the sweet embrace of oblivion, granting him a good night’s rest.

The majestic sun’s ascent to its heavenly throne marked yet another blessed day.
To Shye, who was still a bit disturbed about the scenarios and his reactions to those scenarios, it was the same.
It was truly another great day that helped him realize as long as he stayed alive and refrained from such sinful deeds in the future, there was no need to beat himself up over mere illusions.
He inwardly accepted that a part of him liked the first few scenes, however, it didn’t mean that he was a scum who would actually strive for those scenes to happen in real life.
In fact, now that he was aware of his tendencies, he would likely be better able to restrain himself if such unlikely situations were to somehow happen.
With renewed vigor and outlook towards his internal struggles, Shye stood up and prepared for another day.
He was a division leader now, and many adventurers already risked their futures to join his upstart division, fully believing in his capabilities as a leader.
He can’t simply stay down all week.
If he had to live with his guilt forever, then he would bury it deep inside his heart and carry it for eternity, taking it as a part of his mission to repay the old man for helping him and his little sister survive.
Walking out of his inn room after a quick preparation, Shye headed towards the guild.
What he didn’t anticipate was that all the division members who weren’t on a quest had prepared a surprise celebration for him.
Based on what their deputy leader Reginald Bodan said, Shye was probably now a hero candidate, which was naturally a huge cause for celebration.
If their division leader actually became Valenzia’s Hero, then even his scraps would be worth picking up, hence, the division members not only celebrated Shye’s heroic return but also their decision to join the Flashy Ravens Rising Division.
…Arriving at the division lounge, Shye couldn’t help but smile widely, grateful and happy about having such considerate members.
It appeared they had even researched his favorite foods, as the center table was filled with a variety of seafood such as lobsters, scallops, crabs, shrimps, and more.
Naturally, Shye was deeply moved by their gestures, prompting him to silently vow to bring them to the top alongside him, ensuring that even if they couldn’t reach the moon due to the limitations of their talents, they would at least land among the stars.
