Chapter 496: Instructor Versus Student
Cold winds blew.
The chilling darkness of the night once again shrouded the entire world.
Usually, by this time, most of the people living in cities were resting, with only a few still active.
Among these active night owls were two people whose eyes were ablaze with fighting spirit, standing across each other with serious gazes.
After eating, Shye and Fienna chatted for around thirty more minutes before walking towards Valenzia City’s dueling grounds–a moderately sized open area with small stages.
With a simple registration from the grounds’ staff members, even visitors could use the area to spar with each other.
Naturally, such an exciting place had some battle enthusiasts as onlookers who were hoping to witness some impressive battles from random individuals.
There were even a few scouts from some hopeful adventurer guilds present, aiming to poach random talented adventurers from other guilds that captured their attention.
…Despite his status as a rookie, Shye was fairly famous within Valenzia city.
Hence, it was inevitable that there were lots of people who immediately recognized him upon arrival.
As a result, lots of people were now watching his fight with Fienna, who seemed to not care one bit about the growing crowd.
She knew that there was a high chance she would lose, yet, her eyes never once wavered, gazing straight towards Shye with intense battle intent.
She might lose, but she wasn’t about to lose badly.
As for Shye, this battle was rather difficult for his heart, but he knew he had to fight his instructor with everything he had.
Otherwise, it would simply be disrespectful.
“Prepare yourself, Crowley!”
Armed with a wooden tachi, Fienna ferociously bolted towards Shye, deciding to start the battle with such a bold move.
Naturally, Shye would never shy away from a direct confrontation.
With two wooden greatswords in his hands, Shye’s attributes rose to their peak, allowing him to far surpass Fienna in terms of physicality.
Yet, he didn’t dare underestimate this instructor of his.
He knew that although she might not have overwhelming strength and speed, her combat techniques were top-notch, to the point where she was able to fight toe to toe against the diamond-ranked adventurers who tried to assassinate them on the way back from the Adventurer Academy Competition.
One could even say that she was the sole reason why the instructors weren’t murdered in front of the students back then.
Furthermore, the distressing event happened a year ago, and since she never slacked off with her training despite being an instructor, who knew how strong she was now?
Well, Shye was about to experience it firsthand—the importance of peak combat techniques.
Honestly speaking, he kinda started slacking off in training his combat techniques, as he was now used to simply utilizing his ridiculous physical attributes to overwhelm his opponent.
Well, who could blame him?
How could he even practice his combat techniques when most of his opponents would crumble in just a few attacks,
sometimes, in only a single hit?
It was simply hard to practice without a good sparring partner like Siegfried.
Arriving in front of each other, Shye empowered both weapons with [Power Slash] and a single charge of [Boost].

He then slashed diagonally downwards with all his might.
This attack made it hard for Fienna to dodge, forcing her to face Shye head-on.
Unfortunately for Shye, the well-known fact that it was hard to dodge diagonally downward slashes without stepping back turned out to be utter bullshit, especially against someone like Fienna who excelled in combat techniques.
Shye’s attack was extremely fast and strong.
However, it slashed nothing but air as Fienna somehow managed to smoothly dodge his attack with pinpoint precision by leaning to the side—the distance between the greatswords and her face was extremely minuscule.
Astonishingly, there wasn’t even a hint of fear on her face despite facing an attack that would probably break all her bones had she screwed up.
Fienna was simply ice cold.
‘Haha! I still have a lot to learn, huh?’ Shye mused as he barely dodged a ruthless face stab by jumping backward.
It was a minor loss.
HOWL!
‘How about this then, instructor!’
Summoning his mana-wings and howling to the skies, Shye’s attributes once again rose.
He then activated [Blades of Despair] and charged towards Fienna once more.
Shye knew that his instructor was adept at parrying blows, hence, he planned to catch her off guard using this skill.
‘Parry this, you filt– err, my respected instructor!’
Repeating the same motion, Shye knew that his instructor would try to parry his attack.
“Hmph! What are you doing, Crowley? I taught you better than to repeat attacks, didn’t I?”
His guess was spot on.
If there was a huge disparity between them, it was their intelligence attributes, hence, Shye was able to easily outsmart his instructor.
Angling her wooden katana perfectly, Fienna waited for Shye’s greatswords to slide off the edges of her blade.
However, their swords didn’t even make contact as Shye’s swords merely passed through hers, causing her eyes to widen in shock and alarm.
Unfortunately for Fienna, her quick attempt to try and jump backward to dodge was way too late.
Hence, the wooden greatswords easily slashed through her body, sapping a good amount of her stamina and mana.
“Ahh!”
Since she was new to the sensation of having her energies destroyed, Fienna unintentionally let out a light moan.
‘F*ck! Why did she have to…’
As a result, poor Shye, who was currently struggling to control his sexual urges, suffered a sudden mental counterattack from Fienna—his little brother stiffening up inappropriately.
He continued attacking.
However, despite slightly slower movements this time, Fienna knew better than to parry his attacks.
Hence, she easily evaded Shye’s attacks, sneaking a few blows of her own in the process.
Well, Shye’s movements got slower due to his second head’s vigor.
His difficulties naturally gave Fienna an easier time.
“Crowley, are you mocking me? Didn’t you say you’ll fight me seriously?!”
