Chapter 500: Champion Inauguration
Understanding Nookie’s exact capabilities as a puppeteer was very fun for Shye.
Hence, he spent the next two days hunting creatures, allowing the little imp to control as many corpses as possible.
As a result, Shye discovered that the maximum number of corpses Nookie could control smoothly was around twenty.
Any more than that was very difficult for the little necrollin.
However, it didn’t mean that it wouldn’t be able to as Shye found out that with practice, Nookie would be able to control more with the same level of smoothness and precision as the first twenty.
Naturally, the higher the rank of the corpses was, the faster the imp would improve.
If Shye could, he would love to accompany the little necrollin while it trained.
Unfortunately, since his inauguration as a regional champion was today, he had no choice but to leave, ordering Nookie to continue training at the area while also subtly threatening the little necrollin that he could detonate the black seal on its forehead whenever he could should it be gone by the time he returned.
This of course scared Nookie witless, causing it to throw all thoughts of escape out of its little head.
Satisfied with the little necrollin’s reaction, Shye left the area, returning to Valenzia City using a recall circle he prepared in advance.

At Valenzia City’s city square, multiple huge holographic screens remained suspended in mid-air.
Naturally, since City Lord Blas wanted to give Shye a little fame boost, he deliberately didn’t announce anything.
Instead, he gave people more time to notice and guess that a huge event would probably occur in the city square by dropping a few hints and scheduling the inauguration ceremony at eleven in the morning.
The city lord’s plan worked wonders as exactly fifteen minutes before the inauguration time, there were at least two hundred thousand people gathered at the city square, with a few more watching at home.
If Shye saw how many people were at the city square, he would be heartbroken, leaving him wishing for the ceremony to be performed at the said location instead of the city hall’s inauguration chamber.
“Crowley, are you ready?”
“Yes, Lord Blas.”
“Well then, I shall start the ceremony.”
Walking towards the center of the chamber, Blas faced the live recording crystal with a stern exterior.
“I understand that everyone might be a bit confused about what’s happening, so let me clarify and make an exciting announcement. Today, we are inaugurating the most talented rookie our region has ever seen, Shye Crowley.”
Blas’ words stirred up a commotion among the onlookers in the city square, leading them to speculate about what position Shye was being inaugurated into and why.
Naturally, there was no need for anyone to ask who Shye was, and since a few members of the Raven’s Blade guild had friends in other guilds, rumors about Shye’s successful completion of the special quest spread quickly among the crowd in the city square.
This allowed them to form their theories about the position he would be inaugurated into.
The most famous guess was a hero candidate, which was not far from the truth.
“Among the few brave souls who dared to attempt the regional special quest, this young man stood out as the greatest. He not only took on the challenge but completed it with flying colors, distinguishing himself from all the others.” Blas spoke once more, capturing the attention of the audience.
“And because he achieved the highest level of completion by slaying the lord and all its generals, I am proud to announce that after this ceremony, he will be our tenth regional champion.”
Pausing as though he could see the crowd who were at the city square, Blas gave them a short amount of time to talk amongst themselves.
“A-A regional champion!”
“As a rookie?! Isn’t this too excessive?!”

“Hmph! If you think it’s too excessive, how about you kill five (A-) ranked monsters in two months?!”
“Your information is outdated! I heard it was one (A) ranked monster and four (A-) ranked ones!”
Meanwhile, back at the inauguration chamber, Shye almost went crazy in sheer delight after reading the notification in front of him.
[Congratulations! You’ve earned 280,981 points!]
‘How did I earn so many points? There weren’t even twenty people in this chamber!’ Shye thought to himself, his eyes scanning the room in slight bewilderment. ‘Could it be that…a level four system allows me to earn points from people watching through holographic screens?!’
If so, this was huge.
…After a few more words from Blas, the inauguration ceremony officially started, leaving a few high-ranked adventurers, who were watching from the holographic screens, gnashing their teeth in jealousy.
They had been adventuring for so long and had reached the highest possible rank, the adamantite rank, yet they had no idea how to become a regional champion.
Hence, their envy could be considered to be a normal response to Shye’s success.
A few of them knew how to become a regional champion, but since most were already middle-aged, the requirements were naturally harder compared to what Shye went through.
This was the reason most of them weren’t in favor of Shye becoming a regional champion after only one special quest completion.
One (A) ranked and four (A-) ranked monsters? Easy!
However, what most of them couldn’t grasp was that Shye managed to complete the special quest at the young age of twenty-two.
A feat all of them couldn’t have achieved at such an age.
Luckily, not everyone was stupid, and there were a few adamantite-ranked adventurers who sided with Shye.
“Hah, sure, you can accomplish the special quest NOW that you’re forty-one! But do any of you believe you could have done it at twenty-two?” remarked a seasoned adamantite adventurer in support of Shye.
“Huh?! Are you stupid?! Who could achieve such a feat at twenty-two?!” retorted another who believed that Shye didn’t deserve the regional champion spot.
Unknown to the second adventurer, his response inadvertently validated the first adventurer’s point, leaving them momentarily stunned and silent throughout the entire ceremony upon realizing that Shye had achieved something none of them could.
“Heh, exactly. Only him so shut the f*ck up.”
They could only watch the proceedings begrudgingly after being humiliated by the first adventurer who was in favor of Shye becoming a regional champion.
