Chapter 503: A Not-So-Touching Reunion
*BOOM!*
After successfully capturing their target, the terrorist leader suddenly fired a red smoke round at the skies of Valenzia City.
Soon after, they all threw smoke bombs to the ground without hesitation, covering the entire city in white smoke.
“K-Kuhh…these damned terrorists…What are they up to now?” Gyle, the captain of Valenzia Enforcement Squad Three, cursed after being forced back by the excessive smoke.
It was unwise to continue fighting with such low visibility.
Moreover, who knows? Maybe the terrorists had some sort of specialized tool or device they could use to easily kill them through the smoke.
Thus, the enforcement squad captains ordered everyone to temporarily retreat and instructed the mages to cast wind-type spells to disperse the smoke.
Naturally, the mages, despite not being members of the squads themselves, followed the squad captains’ orders as they all wanted to live to tell the tale of the terrorists’ attack on Valenzia City.
*FWOOSH!*
Strong winds swept through every corner of Valenzia City, effortlessly clearing away the white smoke that enveloped it.
However, astonishingly, the only evidence left of the terrorists and the enormous (S)-ranked monstrous creatures they brought with them were the fading magic circles on the ground and the ruins of multiple destroyed houses and shops, serving as proof that Valenzia City had indeed been invaded.
“The f*ck? Their attack didn’t even last for five minutes! What the hell were they doing?” Gyle cursed in utter confusion.
He couldn’t understand why the terrorists showed up for five minutes, and before anyone could even die, disappeared into thin smoke.
Unbeknownst to them, their recently inaugurated champion had already been abducted.
However, it would be difficult for them to know as Blas would naturally be suppressing this news, and only the concerned parties such as Soaring Raven, the WAA, and Blas’ close aides would ever know.
After all, it would be a huge blow not only to the capital city’s prestige but also to the city lord’s.

“Where the hell am I?”
Shye muttered as he looked around the small metal room he was in.
He couldn’t recall much, but he did remember hearing his mom’s voice just before he lost consciousness.
From that moment, memories came flooding back, allowing him to recall that the scout-class terrorist, who had his mom’s voice, called the tall man “Maverick”—the name of his missing father, Maverick Crowley.
Shye, with his four hundred intelligence attribute points, could now analyze and deduce things in the blink of an eye.
Moreover, his higher-than-most wisdom attribute enabled him to think rationally, even though the situation was related to one of his most significant life missions: finding his missing parents.
Even so, he had mixed emotions.
A part of him felt a sense of relief because if the two terrorists he fought earlier were indeed his parents, it meant they were doing well and had become as strong as mid to high-ranked adamantites.
However, he couldn’t help but feel hurt and angry.
After all, he and his little sister were not even teens when their parents supposedly “died,” yet the two were alive all along.
They hadn’t visited or looked for him and his little sister even once, nor left them any gold or silver coins to survive.
Instead, they were left to fend for themselves as street rats for four years, only for their parents to join some darned terrorist group.
Anyone would naturally be infuriated upon finding out the truth.

…Soon after, the door opened.
“S-Shye, sweetie. I’ve missed you.”
It seemed that his deductions were correct as the two who entered the room were indeed his missing father and mother.
Yet, no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn’t smile at them—his mother’s sweet words didn’t have the effect he had hoped for.
“Do you think I’d miss the likes of you two?” Shye said furiously, his breathing heavy.
“Shye, your mother and I had a rea–”
“Do you know how I’ve made it my life’s mission to rescue you two?! It turns out, you weren’t even in danger in the first place! Hahaha! Instead, you’re the ones endangering the lives of others! You missed me? Hah! Then you should have at least visited me and Maia. Did you know we lived on the streets of Colzen City for four years? That Maia almost died?! That we begged for coins just for a single meal that wouldn’t even fill half our stomachs?!”
Hearing Shye’s story, Alicia and Maverick Crowley couldn’t help but clench their fists as their hearts ached in frustration and pity.
They were promised by a certain someone that their children would live decent lives as one of them, Shye, was key to a much grander purpose—one that would impact the entire world.
An old man, who turned out to be the leader of the world’s most notorious terrorist group that they’ve now joined, told them a shocking secret.
The world was ending, and they, although known as a terrorist group, were working hard to restore it to normal.
Mana dungeons with increasingly difficult requirements would continue to emerge in every region at a rate that outpaced the ability of adventurers to clear them.
Adthiopia, siphoned of mana, would then die and become uninhabitable.
Based on mana dungeons emerging everywhere, the Crowley couple easily believed the story.
They were both skilled and capable as adventurers, however, they weren’t that smart.
Therefore, when the old man told them that their son was the only one who could save the world from ruin due to his unique hidden talent, the two—driven by their overwhelming sense of duty and not-so-bright minds—vowed to help the old man, who promised that their children would be well cared for despite their grand mission.
The Crowley couple was naturally happy to be a part of such a monumental and important quest.
However, what they didn’t appreciate was the old man’s lie.
Their children, whom they loved and cherished with all their hearts, became street rats for four whole years?
Unacceptable!
They might have been foolish and impulsive at times, but they both had passionate and loving hearts.
Hence, Alicia Crowley couldn’t bear her son’s words and stormed out of the room, crying in regret and anger.
She headed toward the old man’s room, with her husband, Maverick Crowley, equally furious but concealing it beneath a calm exterior, right behind her.
“You damned lying old bastard!!”
