Chapter 519: Zeth’s Prowess
‘Master, may I know who these mentally challenged humans are? I don’t understand what they’re talking about, but I sense their intentions aren’t kind.’ Zeth asked with intrigue and slight excitement.
She had been raring to kick some ass for some time now.
Luckily, it appeared that she wouldn’t have to wait long to do so as some humans dared attack her and her master.
‘How fortunate.’ She thought, bringing a smile to Shye’s face, only for it to be replaced by a frown shortly after as the assassin leader retrieved a scroll from his spatial bag.
The leader then activated the scroll by infusing mana into it, summoning three (S-) class monstrous creatures: a Poison Drake, a Mist Wendigo, and a Midnight Harpy, each larger than Zeth.
‘Hoh, are these the strongest creatures this world has to offer, master?’
The dusk mare’s words snapped Shye back to reality, allowing him to recompose himself.
This was his first time encountering an actual Poison Drake, having only seen it once in a holographic broadcast fighting seven adamantite-ranked adventurers.
‘No, although these creatures are somewhat close to the apex, they aren’t the strongest this world has to offer.’
‘I see, that’s good. It would be boring if there’s no competition.’
Immediately after a short conversation with her master, Zeth valiantly galloped forward at speeds almost impossible for the human eye to see, charging at the three monstrous creatures with nary a hint of hesitation.
“Heh, you’re barely a King-class familiar, yet you’re this confident? Delusional!” The assassin leader said coldly, trying his best to follow Zeth’s movement with their eyes.
The success of the operation hinged on whether the three (S-) ranked monstrous creatures could defeat, or at least delay, the King-class familiar.
Hence, at that moment, it seemed as though time slowed to a crawl as Shye and the assassins waited for the result of the familiar versus monstrous creature clash.
Most of the ambushers, including Shye, expected the fight to be fierce.
It was.
In the beginning, that is.
The three monstrous creatures sensed that Zeth, despite her smaller size, was a dangerous opponent.
Thus, the three creatures didn’t dare hold back.
The Midnight Harpy immediately assumed the support role, singing unholy melodies that buffed both of its allies.
Meanwhile, the poison drake briefly assumed the role of the ranged attacker, unleashing poison breath and mana blasts from its maw, while the wendigo charged directly at Zeth, reaching out its arms to seize the mare of darkness by her horns.
Since Wendigos were well-known for their brutish strength, all of them, including Shye, assumed that the King-class familiar would utilize its speed to its advantage.
Well, Zeth kind of did—by charging straight ahead with a fierce expression.
‘Zeth!’ Shye telepathically exclaimed in worry.
However, he didn’t anticipate that it wouldn’t be necessary; when her horns collided with the brute’s massive hands, the wendigo roared in pain, failing to grasp it.
As a result, the massive, upward-curved horns pierced right through the wendigo’s abdomen.
*ROAR!*
Being an (S-) class monster, the Wendigo was rather prideful and seasoned in battle.
Hence, realizing that it was now being pushed back, the brute immediately tried to stabilize its footing.
Unfortunately, it underestimated the mare’s speed and power.

The Wendigo didn’t even get a chance to fight back.
Before it even had the chance to plant its foot firmly on the ground, blue flames roared as an enormous blazing tornado appeared from Zeth’s horns, incinerating the overconfident and prideful Mist Wendigo to ashes.
Witnessing the unexpected turn of events, the assassin leaders’ eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Even a party of adamantite-ranked adventurers wouldn’t be able to kill a Mist Wendigo so easily.
Hence, the shocking almost instantaneous kill completely stupefied the outlaws.
However, Zeth was not done yet, swiftly ensnaring everyone and transporting them to a pitch-black realm.
Strangely, everyone inside could still see each other very clearly despite the darkness.
‘Is this a domain-type skill?’ Shye mused as he tried to feel with his body the pitch-black domain’s effects.
‘Yes, master. These two weaklings in front of me might try to escape, so I used it to ensure they would die.’
‘Y-You still have the time to talk to me?’
‘Why, yes, master. Am I not speaking to you right now? These opponents are quite easy to handle, so I can afford to spare some focus to chat with you.’
*GULP*
Shye couldn’t help but slightly gulp after hearing his familiar’s words.
He would like to learn such natural confidence.
It seemed as though the results had been set in stone since the beginning, and that she, the Duchess of the Dusk, would surely emerge victorious.
(S-) ranked creatures were easy to handle?
Only the strongest ones amongst the adamantite-ranked adventurers were qualified to say such things.
This meant that in the Valenzia Region, Zeth was already near the apex—perhaps even at the top.
…The mare’s guess was correct. All (S-) ranked creatures and above already possess a certain level of intelligence regardless of what type of creature they are.
Hence, the remaining two immediately realized that Zeth was way more dangerous than they initially thought after witnessing the wendigo’s swift demise—thoughts of escape orbiting their minds.
Unfortunately for them, the Duchess of the Dusk—432 years old—was way more experienced than they were, allowing her to predict what they would do in advance.
Caught in the pitch-black realm, the Poison Drake and the Midnight Harpy had nowhere to run.
They tried destroying the domain.
However, their attacks struck nothing but pure darkness, as if they didn’t even reach the domain’s walls.
Watching her adversary’s futile attempts, Zeth slowly walked to the center of the domain with a nonchalant expression.
She was about to use one of her sure-kill combos for weaker opponents, and now, the Poison Drake and the Midnight Harpy were about to be on their receiving end.
‘Burn, weaklings.’ Zeth inwardly thought in disdain.
Soon after, her entire body was consumed by blue flames.
‘Blue Blaze Outburst.’
