Chapter 526: The Fast And Fearless Versus The Furious
“Quick! Draft a guild invitation for Maia Crowley, offer these items as signing rewards…”
“What?! Why is Riva not back yet?! Order someone to make a guild invitation this instant!”
“Good, I’ll check the draft later. As soon as I approve, send it to Colzen Academy.”
Immediately after seeing Maia’s “attitude” when it came to combat, the guild masters went crazy, quickly leaving Blas’ office one by one to make quick calls.
They were already behind as Raven’s Blade had a huge advantage over them in the form of their target prospect’s big brother, Shye Crowley.
If they wanted to have at least a chance at recruiting her, they had to act faster than anyone else and show their sincerity.
After all, while talented prospects were abundant, those who were both talented and fearless were extremely rare, even in other regions.
Should they allow Raven’s Blade to obtain the Crowley siblings, their guild’s overall rank would be in utter peril, especially those in the top ten.
Meanwhile, back at the main stage, the match was reaching its climax.
Eusford’s priestess, Pixie, had already been eliminated due to mana depletion, giving it her all to cast her ultimate protective spell to give their ace, Varis, an entire minute to breathe and prepare for the Eusford Khimaira’s violent assault.
This one selfless act allowed Varis to use his ultimate defense skill, [Golden Bastion Lv.3 (Rare)], a second time, leaving the Colzen crowd biting their nails in nervousness.
They already saw the skill’s defensive capability which allowed Varis to summon four huge golden knights with huge shields, holding the defensive line steadily even against the strongest of attacks.
The skill’s defensive limit depended on the user’s vitality attribute, though, and since Varis was still a student, the knights could only protect him for at most ten seconds.
After that, he was on his own.
Maia had no such skills to rely on, unfortunately.
All she was operating on was a single short-distance repositioning skill, her last few remaining bits of stamina, and a fearless heart.
Even her once flawless dodges were now becoming clumsy.
Nevertheless, it was enough for her to continue fighting like a mad dog, still daring to fight the Colzen Khimaira head-on with insane short bursts of laughter.
Finally, exactly after ten seconds, Varis’ golden knights succumbed to the Eusford Khimaira’s attacks.
However, at the same time, Maia failed to cleanly dodge the slightly exhausted Colzen Khimaira’s [Poison Claw Lv.5 (Uncommon)] attack.
Although she avoided a direct hit by the sharp claws, thereby escaping poisoning, she was still forcefully swatted toward the edge of the Colzen half-sphere.
At that moment, time slowed to a crawl for the Colzen crowd.
It was unknown whether their ace, who had done a fantastic job so far, would be judged by the blue dome’s system as deceased.
Fortunately for them, the clouds of dust cleared up after just a few seconds, revealing their academy’s pillar struggling to stand up.
“UOHHH!! Senior Maia!!”
“Senior Maia is mighty!”
The Colzen crowd cheered their hearts out, bringing a slight jealous frown to the faces of the Eusford crowd.
They also wanted to cheer for their ace representative.
However, Varis was only able to survive due to his ultimate skill—an undeniably lamer way to pull through than sheer fearlessness and masterful evasions.
It was hard for them to cheer as hard as those who supported Colzen.

Still, despite surviving, Maia was evidently in a direr situation compared to Varis.
If nothing goes wrong, the Eusford ace representative would likely be able to barely withstand another hit, whereas Maia would not.
Astonishingly, though, Shye had a confident smile on his face.
He had already appraised his little sister to check her remaining skills and discovered that she still had another trump card, which might or might not be appropriate to use in the current situation, depending on the user.
However, since it was Maia, a fearless battle maniac, who would be using the skill, there was a decent chance she could pull it off.
All she had to do was execute the skill perfectly.
Easier said than done, though, as with the slightest hesitation and lack of control, she would turn into an azure ray of light that would break the hearts of those who supported her beloved academy.
Nevertheless, Maia was f*cking locked in.
She was ready and eager to pull off one of the greatest maneuvers of her life—licking her lips slightly in excitement.
She wanted nothing more than to engage in a high-risk high-reward exchange like this, fully knowing that the self-satisfaction she would feel would be immense should she be successful.
A few moments later, the long-awaited “last clash” began as the Khimairas flew to the skies, roaring ferociously before diving toward the two remaining representatives like meteors.
‘Sh*t!’ Varis inwardly cursed.
The darned Khimairas just had to choose a new attack pattern at such a crucial moment—one that had an absurdly huge effective radius.
If he didn’t think of a solution, the fight would end in a draw!
‘Wait…a draw? If I remember correctly, each team would be awarded a point in a draw…meaning that…’
They would win three to two!
As it turned out, they already won the moment he summoned his golden knights!
With this realization, the Eusford ace managed to summon up the courage to face death head-on.
Who knows?
Maybe this short boost in courage would allow him to gloriously survive and be the last one standing!
…As the Khimairas’ descent speed gradually became faster and faster, the two representatives gripped their weapons tightly, ready for their final stand.
“Stoic! Deflect!” Varis exclaimed—his eyes laser-focused on where the Eusford Khimaira would exactly land.
If he could miraculously block the attack at the perfect angle, he might just barely pull through.
On the other hand, Maia held her dagger in a backhand grip—a smile on her face as she muttered: “This is probably our last dance, big kitty…what a shame. However, one day, I’ll hunt the real you!”
Varis stood as still as a mountain while Maia explosively charged diagonally upwards to meet the descending Colzen Khimaira with a battle-crazed gaze.
‘Mach Slaughter!’
White smoke then emitted from her ankles, increasing her speed tremendously and catching the Khimaira off-guard.
As a result, its paw smash was slightly delayed, allowing Maia to pass through before the enormous paw struck her.
This was the decisive moment that only Shye and a few high-ranked adventurers could clearly see.
Despite the imminent threat of death approaching swiftly and directly, Maia’s heart never once wavered, enabling her to press onward without even considering retreat.
A few moments later, Shye smiled.
“Truly my little sister.”
