Chapter 551: Valenzia Versus Krebori: Champion Duel
Valenzia Region…
The publicly acknowledged weakest region ever since history was recorded.
The WAA has extensively studied why this region has consistently lagged behind the other nine, identifying multiple contributing factors.
The primary and most significant reason was the region’s lack of natural resources compared to others.
Due to the scarcity of top-tier resources, adventurers in Valenzia naturally progressed much more slowly than those in other regions.
This led to significantly slower research outcomes and technological advancements.
Over time, the gap only widened, resulting in Valenzia being called a backwater region.
Naturally, hearing someone from such an underdeveloped region challenge someone from a more advanced one with extreme confidence left the other champions confused, amused, and slightly annoyed—except for Rai Hou, who dozed off without a care in the world, and Mira, whose heart began to panic once more.
In their view, the young Valenzia champion, being both the youngest and perceived as the weakest among the seven, should keep quiet and know his place.
Even a few handlers felt this way.
Hence, they didn’t stop the two from fighting.
As for Fyun, who would normally intervene in such disputes, he remained silent on the sidelines, as he was tasked with evaluating Shye Crowley’s abilities.
“Hoh…you dare talk back, hillbilly champion?” Freeze said, equally furious.
He believed that Shye, no matter how “famously talented” he was in his own region, would never dare to talk back to someone from a higher-ranked region like himself.
He had worked with a champion from Valenzia in the past, and despite his excessive taunts, the man never retorted; thus, he believed Shye would behave the same way.
“Heh, what kind of answer is that? I asked you a yes or no question, didn’t I? If you’re scared, just admit it,” Shye mocked, trying to goad Freeze into accepting his challenge.
Astonishingly, Nutter, who usually just watched from the sidelines, suddenly intervened for a reason none of them could have ever expected.
“T-That’s unacceptable, Crowley! You can’t extort money from other champions! Even if Winfield said something rude, that doesn’t give you the right to bully him.” Nutter said, her face showing genuine concern and disapproval.
She acted as though Shye was truly the bully.
“Heh, didn’t you hear what this ugly dog said about me and Valenzia? I can’t just let such disrespect go unpunished, can I?”
“S-Still! Can you at least lower the bet? W-Winfield would end up broke if you take such a huge amount of money, no?”
Hearing Shye and his handler discuss him as if his loss was already certain, Freeze was completely enraged.
On the other hand, everyone else, including the sleepyhead Rai Hou, was dumbfounded.
They couldn’t believe what they just heard.
“SHUT THE HELL UP!! Fine… Fine then. If you want me to put you in your place, I’ll gladly do it. Forget 20,000 gold coins; let’s make it 30,000. Do you dare accept, Shye Crowley?!”
“Hahahahaha! Now we’re talking. I’ll be honest: all I have is 35,500 gold coins. How about we raise the bet to the limit of my coin reserves? Also, I have a [Unique]-tier skill book with me—why don’t we add that to the bet as well? Surely someone from a higher-ranked region like you wouldn’t have any trouble matching a skill book of the same tier, right?”
Although hotheaded, Freeze wasn’t stupid.
He immediately realized that Shye’s confidence was rather strange.
‘Is this backwater rat just overly confident in his victory, or does he have some unusual consumable that could help him beat me?’ Freeze wondered, his eyes narrowed.
“Of course, I do have a [Unique]-tier skill book. I accept your challenge, hillbilly. However, the use of consumable items to aid in combat is forbidden. Do you agree to my terms?”

“Hahaha! You’re overthinking it, wuss. I naturally agree to your terms. Do you really think I’d need some sort of consumable combat item to defeat you? You’re overestimating yourself!”
The other champions, except for Rai Hou and Mira, were naturally annoyed at Shye’s words, but they wanted to see how things would unfold.
Hence, they watched the proceedings with intrigue, inwardly siding slightly with Freeze.
Walter, Dalton, and Koneko believed that hillbillies from the backwater Valenzia region should know their place.
“Handler Fyun” Shye spoke, turning his head to look at the senior handler. “I believe that the extermination party’s teamwork would be jeopardized should we not resolve this matter amongst ourselves. I plead that you allow us to proceed with this duel.”
Naturally, Fyun, who needed to see Shye’s prowess, readily agreed.
“I shall permit this duel. However, you must use these mana simulation talismans.”
Hearing the senior handler’s words and realizing what the item he had in his hands was, everyone’s eyes widened in utter shock and disbelief.
It seemed that even Fyun was interested to see the confident Shye Crowley’s abilities.
After all, mana simulation talismans would allow both fighters to go all out without actually killing each other, as it would only be their simulation armor that would be destroyed should they be defeated.
Only, such talismans were rather expensive, even counting as a pseudo-life saving talisman as it would allow one to survive a lethal blow, despite not allowing one to instantly escape a dangerous situation.
Since Fyun took two out for a mere duel, the onlookers inside the rendezvous room would naturally be surprised.
…Obtaining the senior handler’s approval, a shadow of a smile crept into Shye’s face.
He had long since prepared himself to slap a few faces if it meant that he would obtain his teammates’ acknowledgment, be it through respect or fear.
Furthermore, he was truly quite pissed at how most of the champions treated him with such disrespect.
It was time to teach them who he was.
“You heard Sir Fyun,” Shye said as he shifted his attention towards Freeze. “I’m not fond of those reneging on bets. Let’s put our bets inside this spatial bag and give it to Sir Fyun for safekeeping.”
Taking out 35,500 gold coins, an emergency talisman, and a [Unique]-tier scout skill book, Shye placed everything inside the spatial bag, passing it to Freeze with a confident smirk on his face.
Naturally, Freeze did the same before passing the spatial bag to the senior handler.
However, instead of confidence, in his face was wariness.
Shye was just too confident.
As a result, Freeze’s heart couldn’t help but waver and entertain doubts.
‘Hmph, overthinking won’t help, and this might be a part of his strategy. I shall just fight as I’ve always done. This backwater rat should be of no threat…’
