Chapter 564: Monster Drops
“A-Already what? There’s no way…did he already…” Mira replied in despair, believing that Shye had already perished.
However, in the next moment, it was as though her ears played tricks on her after hearing Freeze’s subsequent words:
“No, he already killed the Cyclops!”
Even Rai Hou’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He couldn’t understand how Shye managed to kill the Brallnr Cyclops in moments, while they had struggled to defeat it even when attacking it together.
Shye had simply taken advantage of the fact that [Dark]-type attacks were not only permitted but also enhanced two-fold in power within the dark domain.
This allowed him to swiftly kill the Brallnr Cyclops in a single strike using his trump card, [Nightfall Reaper].
Additionally, the extreme darkness allowed him to keep his trump card a secret, which was a great bonus.
After all, even though the WAA extermination party members were currently his teammates, it wasn’t ideal to reveal everything he had if he could help it.
He was sure they were doing the same.
It was simply a bit too hard for him to believe that individuals talented enough to be appointed as champions would truly panic so pathetically.
If their earlier reactions were genuine, it would be quite disappointing.
However, he was more or less certain that they were keeping a few secrets close to their chests, and would only reveal them when absolutely necessary.
…There was no doubt that Shye had indeed slain the floor guardian, as the entire floor suddenly became as bright as day, with all traces of darkness vanishing into thin smoke.
A *beep* then sounded above the Brallnr’s corpse, revealing a countdown timer.
“A timer, huh? This floor guardian will probably respawn once it hits zero,” Shye mused as he stared at the numbers floating above the guardian’s corpse.
His attention was quickly captured by the sudden blue mana particles evaporating in mid-air, however, prompting him to look at the fallen Brallnr.
‘Oh, right, this thing was so realistic I forgot it was manaborne, and its corpse would dissolve back into mana when killed…’
Mesmerized by the rather unique way this specific monster, a floor guardian, disintegrated into mana particles, the WAA watched on for a few seconds.
It didn’t take long for everyone’s attention to be seized again as suddenly, three azure orbs floated in the air, gently landing on the ground.
“Monster Drops!”
Shye had heard of monstrous creatures dropping items inside mana dungeons.
However, the drop rates were abysmally low, and despite clearing a few mana dungeons in the past, this was his first time encountering item drops.
This was true for everyone except Rai Hou, who had once obtained drops from another (S-) ranked mana dungeon, though the items were of rather low quality.
Hence, the three glowing orbs made everyone’s hearts race in excitement.
After all, such items weren’t crafted by anyone but were born of mana, and from what they knew, some drops, especially adventurer equipment, and accessories, had unique bonus effects that no blacksmith, no matter how talented, could embed into their crafts.
However, the blacksmiths could always enhance and improve these items.
A few more moments later, the azure orbs dissolved, revealing three item drops from the floor guardian: a black cloak, a strange reddish-black belt, and a golden ring.
“Crowley, how should we divide the items?”
Rai Hou’s words snapped Shye back to reality.

He was considering whether to use appraisal on the items and temporarily hand them over to his party members who would benefit the most from each one.
However, he was concerned that if he did so, he would reveal one of his most trusted skills and his party members would pester him endlessly about how he knew the effects of each item.
As a result, Shye was genuinely at a loss about what to do.
‘Better play it safe…’
“Since it would be unfair to give each item directly to those who would benefit the most, I’m considering temporarily loaning them for the purpose of efficiently clearing the dungeon. Once everything is over, if anyone wants to keep an item, they would need to purchase it with gold coins, which would be divided among the rest of us. What do you all think?” Shye said, scanning his eyes over his party members.
“Hoh, that’s a great way to divide the drops. I, Dalton, agree!”
“Seems fair to me, I also agree.”
“Me too.”
Since everyone agreed to his proposal, Shye nodded satisfactorily before speaking once more:
“Great. However, how will we determine the effects of each item? We can’t go out to have them appraised at shops right now, can we?”
Upon hearing Shye’s words, his party members were momentarily dumbfounded before Dalton suddenly burst into laughter.
“HAHAHAHAHA! I guess a backwater ra–…err…someone from Valenzia would be slightly less informed, huh?”
Shye couldn’t help but frown when Dalton almost called him a backwater rat again.
However, noticing that Dalton made a conscious effort to correct himself out of fear, Shye decided to let it go. He was also curious about what he didn’t know, after all.
“AHEM! Let me explain, Crowley! High-ranked adventurers like us have naturally invested in the item appraisal skill. If you haven’t learned it yet, you should, as it’s incredibly useful in many situations.”
‘What? These guys also have ‘Appraisal’?’ Shye inwardly thought in slight disappointment.
He thought that his system’s appraisal skill was a unique advantage only he had.
As it turned out, high-ranked adventurers also have one. He couldn’t help but feel stupid for trying to keep it a secret.
‘But wait, didn’t he say Item Appraisal, does this mean that…’
“Hmm…I see. I’m indeed a bit less informed about such matters. I’ll take your advice. However, this ‘Item Appraisal’ skill only works on items, right? I can’t use it on humans?”
Shye’s reply once again made Dalton laugh uproariously. It was as if he was deliberately doing so as a small way of seeking revenge for Shye’s arrogant remarks earlier.
“BAHAHAHAHAHA!”
“Hoh, what’s so funny, Dalton? Didn’t I tell y–”
“My apologies, my apologies! Hahaha! I just assumed you were capable of anything, so seeing that you’re not invincible puts my mind at ease! To answer your question seriously, no, Item Appraisal can only be used on items, not on humans.”
“Hoh, I see…”
‘As I thought, hehehe, my appraisal skill is still special!’
