Shye wasn’t from Phaskalda or Weaven.

However, this didn’t mean that he knew nothing about the Voidos Devourer.

His appraisal skill was more than enough for him to know everything he needed to.

‘Hoh, so this huge bastard was a spellcaster, huh?’ Shye mused, ‘So that’s why the idiotic ape was smiling so devilishly. Unfortunately for you, it would be extremely difficult to catch me off-guard!’

Shye’s thoughts were cut short as a sudden moderately heavy metal trinket hit him squarely on the head, causing a somewhat funny noise to echo across the entrance of the guardian’s room.

“Wha– WHO THE F*CK THREW THAT?!” Shye raged, his initial focus completely shattered.

He, Shye Crowley, was caught off-guard by whoever the hell threw the trinket.

“Awawa!! I-I apologize, Mister Crowley! I-I just want to wish you luck by giving you the Goddess of Victory’s trinket. P-Please don’t be angry!” Mira said, appearing extremely panicked.

She didn’t mean to hurt Shye.

However, too shy to call out, Mira planned to throw the trinket in front of Shye so he could see it and pick it up before entering the boss room.

Unfortunately, as a priestess, she didn’t have complete control over her arm strength.

Moreover, she lacked the strength to throw it past Shye. As a result, despite her good intentions, the trinket landed solidly on Shye’s head, utterly infuriating him.

Luckily for her, Shye, although easily angered at times, was not an unreasonable individual.

“Tch, that hurt, Mira! Oh well, since you’ve done it with good intentions, I shall not hold it against you. Now, watch as I slay this guardian!”

After the short distraction, Shye took a deep breath and quickly refocused on the task at hand.

‘For the sake of increasing their trust towards me and securing the Impious Origin Belt, I shall reveal one of my trump cards.’

With a chilling smile, Shye bolted forward—straight as an arrow.

To the eyes of Mira and Rai Hou, it was a worrying sight.

However, Shye kept going, nary a hint of hesitation in his eyes.

He was going for a direct exchange—a simple trade of blows.

Noticing the puny human entering the room, the Voidos Devourer roared in anger, ready to defend the staircase with everything it had.

The Voidos Devourer was a huge creature, standing five meters tall and towering on two legs.

Its long arms were extremely strong and muscular, while the lavender bony growths behind its body, resembling spider legs, twitched eerily.

It had purple skin, like most [Void]-type creatures.

However, despite being bipedal, it resembled a lizard more than a human, with an enormous maw threatening to rip Shye apart in a single bite.

Unsettlingly, it also lacked a face, similar to the Voidgar Commanders and Voidgar Pawns.

…As the distance between Shye and the floor guardian decreased, the Voidos Devourer suddenly opened its maw.

It was gathering mana and void energy, condensing them into one powerful beam to erase Shye from existence.

“Mister Crowley!” Mira exclaimed worriedly.

Despite his outward appearance as an arrogant youngster, the priestess somehow sensed that he had a kind and understanding heart.

She believed that Shye was merely forced to act that way to avoid being looked down upon by their teammates.

Hence, she found it difficult to see him being killed right in front of her.

“Hmph! Let’s say you can survive this beam attack using the Impious Origin Belt’s active skill. What then? How will you instantly defeat this Voidos Devourer, with its void armor and tough physique? And what about afterward? How will you survive its next attack?” Dalton sneered in disdain, intentionally making sure his teammates could hear his words.

This was also what Rai Hou was thinking about. He couldn’t fathom how Shye would back his claims up.

‘Could it be related to how he instantly killed the Brallnr Cyclops in the dark?’ The Yon Augenn champion wondered. ‘I guess we’ll find out in the next few moments…’

“Everyone, prepare to assist Crowley!” Rai Hou ordered with a stern tone, eliciting a lazy sneer from Dalton, who didn’t want to help Shye at all.

Time slowed to a crawl as the extermination party watched on—laser-focused. They couldn’t miss the perfect moment to step in.

Otherwise, their party leader might perish.

However, as the purple void beam fired from the Voidos Devourer’s gaping maw, Shye’s body was suddenly enveloped by a black protective aura.

Soon after, the void beam collided with Shye’s body, disintegrating the barrier to mere mana particles.

That was all Shye needed, though.

Promptly after making it past the void beam, a cross-slash mark emerged from Shye’s sword, colliding with the invisible void armor protecting the Voidos Devourer.

“Heh, that’s it? I told you that the void arm–?!”

Dalton was about to mock Shye again, but his words were cut short as he stood there, mouth agape and eyes wide, witnessing what Shye had just done.

After using his skill, [Half-moon Slash], combined with a charge of [Boost] to destroy the invisible void armor, both of Shye’s blades were immediately enveloped in a red sheen.

He then ferociously slashed at the defenseless Voidos Devourer, cleaving its head and brain in half, along with the hidden core inside.

Soon after, purple blood spouted, staining the muddy clay ground as if lavenders were blooming there.

*THUD!*

The floor guardian’s corpse, under the dumbstruck gazes of the WAA extermination party, collapsed with a thud, revealing a single azure orb.

However, not a single one of them paid the item drop any attention as the entire party, including Dalton, couldn’t take their eyes off Shye, who slew the Voidos Devourer in mere seconds, just like he promised.

Slashing his greatswords one more time to remove the purple blood streaming at the edges of its blade, Shye turned around, resting both greatswords on his shoulders as he looked at Dalton with an arrogant smirk.

“See? I told you the belt would benefit me more.”
