Chapter 572: A Short Break
Inside the now brightly lit guardian’s room on the fifth floor of the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon, black blood stained the surroundings.
It splattered across the floor, ceiling, and muddy clay walls, telling tales of a valiant struggle that had just occurred.
Beside the slightly mutilated corpse of a once feared now fallen Abyssal Drake, five adventurers panted in exhaustion.
There were smiles on their faces, a proof of their glorious triumph in combat.
They took care of their end of the deal, they remembered.
This, however, also reminded them that the most important member of their party was still in the midst of a fierce battle with a monster that had once defeated one of their teammates in mere minutes.
Catching a glimpse of the purple world in his peripheral vision, Rai Hou turned around, worry consuming his heart.
They could afford to lose anyone else and still have a chance to proceed, but losing Shye was not an option.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to worry for too long as mere moments after the WAA extermination party’s victory against their dangerous adversary, the purple world shattered into countless fragments, scattering like dandelion seeds to the four winds.
Soon after, two humanoid silhouettes were revealed, one taller than the other.
However, contrary to expectations that the smaller one would lose the duel, it was the taller and more muscular humanoid who now held its severed arm, an expression of agony on its face.
“Crowley!”
“He’s winning?!”
“Mister Crowley!”
The extermination party exclaimed in awe, mesmerized by the sight of a human adventurer dominating an (S) ranked monstrous creature—a scene straight out of a fantasy book.
Rai Hou was the first to regain his composure and dash to Shye’s side to help.
However, there was no need, as the Voidos Nightstalker vanished in the next moment, leaving behind a slightly frustrated Shye, the WAA extermination party members, and two pieces of azure orbs on the ground.
“Mister Crowley, how are you feeling? Do you need a heal?”
“I’m fine, thanks, Mira. For now, let’s divide the drops.”
…Around ten minutes later, the party was ready to proceed to the sixth floor, pride welling in their hearts after surviving yet another dangerous situation.
They descended, a step at a time.
Soon after, just as they expected, the extermination party was met with yet another purple floor.
However, this time, something was different. Purple sparks and orbs lingered in the air like floating bubbles, popping and crackling.
A mesmerizing view, yet, somehow, it gave the extermination party a sense of unease.
None of them thought that the amusing purple particles were a good addition.
‘Appraisal!’
Shye used his trusted appraisal skill, but unfortunately, it failed him this time; it seemed unable to detect the energy.
It was as if the purple sparks and orbs didn’t exist.
“Void energy? How could a mana dungeon even produce void energy?”
A calm yet dependable voice sounded from behind him, capturing his attention. It was Rai Hou who spoke.

“This is void energy?” Shye confirmed, puzzled.
If this indeed was void energy, then this wasn’t a good thing for them. It meant they would face variant versions of void monsters.
Full of uncertainty, danger.
Unfortunately, they had no choice but to advance.
“Let’s take it slow; rushing won’t do us any good,” Shye said, slightly easing his party members’ hearts, much like great food comforts a lonely man.
Against variants, the beloved children of the element of surprise, going as slow as possible would increase one’s chances of surviving.
‘We’re ahead of schedule, anyway.’
And so, the extermination party advanced. Cautious and vigilant.
The sixth floor was unlike the first five as it had various types of terrains.
The extermination party passed through small forests filled with strange purple trees, lavender hills, and rivers of amethyst, encountering all sorts of variant void monsters.
It was a correct decision to take things slowly.
Unfortunately, their supplies ran dry. They had to exit the dungeon for now.
Hence, the party spent the next hour searching for a spacious area with little to no monsters.
Then, immediately upon finding one, Walter and Mira started setting up the magic circle of the two-way travel scroll—the item they would use to instantly return where they left off.
The magic circle would only remain active for an hour upon activation, however, so they had to return swiftly.
Otherwise, they would have to start from the first floor.

Outside the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon, seven bruised and wounded people tended to their wounds.
They had frustrated looks on their faces as they sorted out what seemed to be remains of a once abundant resource pile.
Moments later, an enormous azure magic circle appeared ten meters from the resource pile.
From it emerged six individuals who looked tougher and more battle-hardened than they had initially been.
Their faces told stories of their victories and the corpses they had stepped over to get where they were.
Naturally, upon laying their gazes on the six’s dependable backs, the handlers, who seemed to have suffered greatly on their return journey, smiled.
However, the next moment, one of them frowned, her heart racing wildly in anxiety.
“Where’s Koneko?” The concerned handler, Dove, asked.
Her worries only intensified upon realizing that none of the heroic six dared reply, five of them gazing at the ground in slight distress.
“W-What happened? Can someone tell me? Is she…”
“Her status is unknown. She was captured by a humanoid creature with a domain-type skill that creates a duel scenario for itself. We were unable to help her. However, when we last saw her, she appeared to be alive, just unconscious. We hope to find her in the deeper floors,” Rai Hou replied, slightly embarrassed.
“I-I see…I shall report this to my superior.” Dove dejectedly replied.
She was quite fond of Koneko, as the young adventurer was respectful and playful when speaking with her, even though she was always rude when talking to men.
“What?! Then why did you guys still proceed?! Report everything that happened this instant!”
