Shye’s eyes blinked calmly as he stared at the easy-to-complete mandatory quest.
His subtle and seasoned hand movements—as swift as a hummingbird yet as delicate as a butterfly—allowed him to access the system and check the recently posted mandatory quest without his party members finding out.
He had been doing this for years. It was nearly impossible to catch him.
However, despite his unbothered exterior, Shye was inwardly fuming, his heart ablaze in anger. His attention wasn’t on the mandatory quest at all.
‘That damned peeping old bastard! I should’ve known he had been watching my every move!’ he raged internally.
The old man could have spied on him whenever he was with Shirley!
‘I’ll confront that old bastard the next time we meet… If he had the nerve to spy on me like a damned pervert… I’ll make sure to kill him one day…’ Shye swore inwardly.
Sanada, who he once viewed as his benefactor, turned out to be a manipulative fraudster.
He could never trust the old bastard again. Not without the assistance of an orb of truth, at least.
‘For now, the mandatory quest comes first.’
Turning around, he faced his party members.
Three of them were ganging up on Rai Hou, who was trying to patiently explain to the idiot and the two cowards that it would be better to clear the ninth floor first.
‘At least I have some competent comrades.’ Shye thought inwardly, satisfied with the Yon Augenn champion’s wits and courage.
“Shut the hell up, you three idiots. I agree with Rai Hou.”
“Huh?! You too, Crowley?! I thought you, of all people, would be smart enough to understand that it would be better to go straight to the tenth floor and finish this mission as quickly as possible!” Walter raged, huffing, puffing.
He didn’t want to stay inside the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon for a longer time than necessary.
As a result, he couldn’t think clearly, rendering his high intelligence useless. His nearly nonexistent bravery would be his undoing someday.
“Calm down, you wussy stickman. What if we need some sort of item on the ninth floor to locate and access the boss room and the dungeon’s core?” Shye retorted.
He looked Walter straight in the eye, his gaze filled with disdain.
“If we head straight to the tenth floor only to discover we need a specific item, we would have to return to the ninth floor, clear the entire area, and then tackle the tenth floor again because the monsters would have respawned by then. Essentially, we would end up clearing the tenth and most difficult floor twice.”
“Now, if you think you’re still right, then fine, let’s do it your way. However, if the scenario I just explained happened, all of us here will hold you responsible. So, what will it be, Walter?”
Shye honestly didn’t know if they needed some bullcrap item he was talking about.
However, he was certain that Walter would never have the courage to decide for the team when faced with the threat of responsibility.

Boy, was he right.
“I-I-I see. Hmmph, fine. I admit that I failed to see the bigger picture this time. L-Let’s clear the ninth floor first, then.”
Dalton didn’t dare trust his intelligence after suffering such humiliation.
Thus, since Walter, the smartest of the three, had already agreed, he had no choice but to agree as well.
Meanwhile, Freeze didn’t dare oppose Shye and Rai Hou without support from Walter and Dalton, so he also eventually agreed.
It was an overwhelming victory for Team Ninth Floor.
…After a quick inventory check, the extermination party chose to descend the staircases leading to the ninth floor.
However, since they hadn’t slept for a while, Shye decided to prioritize finding a place to set up camp.
An hour later, they discovered a spacious concrete room guarded by a single (A) ranked monster. It was the perfect campsite.
“Let’s rest here for ten hours.”
They were way ahead of schedule so there was no need for them to rush.
After all, taking the time to rest properly and care for their bodies would ensure they were in peak condition, which would, in turn, help them perform at their best in battle.
In a high-level combat scenario, a split millisecond or millimeter could determine one’s fate, making lack of sleep extremely lethal.
Everyone already knew their roles when setting up camp.
Hence, in just a few minutes, the tents stood sturdy, the sleeping bags were laid out on the floor, and the campfire flames were ablaze.
A peaceful adventurer camp scene straight out of fantasy books.
Unfortunately, the adventurers weren’t at ease with one another. Dalton, Walter, and Freeze had set up their sleeping bags far from the group, each doing their own thing.
The brutish ape kept his weapon close, the wussy stickman read a book, and the inept scout was on sentry duty.
Meanwhile, the reserved Mira stayed inside her tent the entire time.
Only Shye and Rai Hou occasionally chatted, building a rapport like experienced and astute adventurers do.
Despite most of them not liking one another, the atmosphere was quite cozy.
After an hour, the extermination party members began to fall asleep, except for Freeze, who was replaced by Walter six hours later.
Rai Hou volunteered to be the second sentry, however, Shye insisted that Walter replace Freeze.
After all, he wouldn’t need to fight anytime soon.
After ten hours, the extermination party—well rested and ready for action, tidied up.
It was time for them to resume conquering the dungeon’s ninth floor.
“Everyone, we will thoroughly check every nook and cranny of the ninth floor, so expect to spend a considerable amount of time here. Be sure to keep any items you find; we might need them later.”
