Chapter 578: One Slash One Kill
‘Tch, it doesn’t have much strength but…that agility is bad news for everyone except me and Dalton…’ Shye thought inwardly, signaling for everyone to prepare.
They had no choice but to defeat the ten-foot-tall humanoid creature, which had a muscular, charcoal-black carapace and was armed with various black ivory spike outgrowths.
It has two black horns growing from its temples and short yet horrifyingly sharp claws that could seemingly rip apart even the ever-eternal space and the infinite void.
On the bright side, the creature had no other weapons besides its claws and the long, metallic black sharp tail that could extend and retract.
“Everyone, be careful. This creature is an agility type with immense speed. It’s faster than even me, Freeze, and Rai Hou.”
Hearing their party leader’s words, Walter and Mira gulped nervously.
“However, its strength isn’t top-notch. Both Dalton and I are stronger. As long as we can lock the creature down, victory is ours.”
The two spellcasters’ hearts were on a rollercoaster ride, racing wildly one moment, serene the next.
The Daemon was one of the worst matchups for Mira and Walter. It was natural for them to feel slightly nervous as their lives were at a significant risk.
Entering the guardian’s room cautiously, the extermination party attempted to surround the guardian using their usual hunting formation.
Dalton positioned himself firmly in front of Walter and Mira, ready to protect them, while Shye circled to the left and Freeze to the right.
Meanwhile, Rai Hou moved around, searching for opportunities to land lethal hits with his arrows—a task he had performed magnificently ever since the first battle of the extermination party.
Unfortunately, despite successfully surrounding the Daemon, it easily broke free by instantly stepping back, utterly shocking the extermination party members and causing their hearts to race.
A single thought echoed in their minds: ‘What is that speed?!’
For the first time in his life, Rai Hou didn’t know what to do. Even he was in danger.
Luckily for them, despite being the youngest, their party leader was no stranger to studying one’s opponent calmly and thinking of a solution while surviving like a cockroach.
‘Appraisal!’

‘Heh, this creature is quite crafty, trying to intimidate us with its “speed” when it actually used a skill to move that fast…’ Shye inwardly smiled, having caught on to the Daemon’s nasty trick.
“Everyone, calm down, that unbelievable movement just now was a skill. It wouldn’t be able to move consistently at such speeds.” Shye calmly said, leaving the Daemon tilting its head to the right eerily in intrigue.
It wasn’t the slightest bit nervous, however, thinking that Shye and the others were merely prey it could toy with.
Nothing such weaklings could do would matter, that’s what this floor guardian believed.
Soon after, it moved again, bolting towards Shye horrifyingly—fast and fierce—in an attempt to gauge how strong he actually was.
The concrete floor surface shook and slightly cracked as the Daemon’s heavy footsteps echoed across the false core room, sending tremors of fear and anxiety.
However, Shye remained unfazed, a cold smile on his face the entire time, eager to confront the monstrous creature.
‘Come, monster!’
The Daemon’s error served as both a lesson and a reminder of the significant advantage he possessed at the outset of a battle, where the strength of the opponent remained unknown to everyone.
The guardian still had to gauge him while he already knew that he was way ahead in terms of the strength attribute.
‘This monster shouldn’t be stupid, however, seeing that it had 210 points in intelligence and 150 in wisdom. It should be relying on its absurd agility to generate more force than its 350 points of strength could generate…’ Shye mused, gripping his greatswords tighter in preparation for the clash.

He knew he should make use of this once-in-a-lifetime chance.
‘Time to shock the bastards again!’
Charging forward to confront the Daemon head-on, Shye extended both arms, his swords scraping along the ground and leaving behind crude carvings that marked the epic clash.
‘Nightfall Reaper! Boost! Boost! Boost!’
“HIIIIIISHHH!”
A strange hiss reminiscent of the unholy emerged from the Daemon’s throat, a ghostly melody that would make the hairs on one’s skin stand.
“Take my strongest attack, monster!” Shye exclaimed in utter excitement.
This was the first opportunity he had to unleash his most powerful attack: Nightfall Reaper, enhanced with all three charges of boost.
Shye’s greatswords violently sliced through the air, heading straight for the Daemon’s body. The eerily silent reddish glow of the blades’ edges sent a tingling sensation down one’s spine.
On the other hand, the monstrous creature, realizing that Shye was willing to meet it head-on, also smiled eerily.
Its armored arms turned into one sharp black blade, emitting a purple aura as it stabbed at Shye’s head.
“Crowley!”
“Mister Crowley!”
The extermination party exclaimed in unison—two of them worried about his well-being, while the other three were concerned for their own.
After all, Shye was the core of their party. He cannot die. Otherwise, they might die as well.
Their worries were understandable, however, as the purple aura emitted by the blade arm was extremely terrifying.
Dalton was certain that if he faced it directly without Mira’s help, even if he managed to survive by using his trump cards, he would be severely injured.
In contrast, Shye’s attack was silent, seemingly overwhelmed by the monstrous creature’s attack, leaving the hearts of the WAA extermination party members racing in utter anxiety.
Time slowly passed. The blade arm and the greatswords drew closer to each other.
However, upon getting a closer look and feel of Shye’s attack, the Daemon suddenly had the urge to flee.
Unfortunately, it was too late to do so.
After a quick metallic clang—a product of the clash between the greatswords and the blade arm—the greatswords began slicing the blade arm in half, utterly horrifying the ninth-floor guardian.
There was no time for it to retreat, however.
Thus, the Daemon’s torso was ultimately severed from the rest of its body, hitting the ground with a dull, nauseating thud, its black blood flowing freely onto the cold, hard surface.
