Chapter 579: The Final Trial Of A Hero
“U-UOHHHH!! CROWLEYY!!” Dalton couldn’t help but exclaim in utter shock and excitement.
What Shye did was the wet dream of all warriors: killing a monstrous creature with a single attack. It was as though his favorite childhood hero was right in front of him.
“No…f*cking…way…right?” Freeze and Walter muttered in unison, feeling their blood run cold as flashbacks of how they tried to antagonize Shye in the past flooded their minds.
They could’ve been on the receiving end of such a vicious attack!
On the other hand, Mira and Rai Hou’s mouths were agape, yet, no words came out. They were too stunned to speak.
Shye didn’t care one bit about the reactions of his party members, however, as his eyes were glued to the notification in front of him.
’15 points? But there are only five of us here… who are the other ten?’ he wondered with a frown. ‘Could it be that people from the WAA are watching us?’
His guess was spot on.
Back at a specific luxurious office of the WAA Main Headquarters in the Yon Augenn Region, ten elderly men were frozen in shock, their eyes wide and mouths agape as they watched Shye calmly standing still, apparently cleaning his greatswords of the black filth that was the guardian’s blood.
The first to snap out of his stupor was naturally Lord Belford, Valenzia Region’s WAA Director-in-charge.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s our region’s shining star right there! Lord Eversong, I strongly suggest we appoint him as Valenzia’s first hero and engrave a hero’s crest on his back. Then we can start sending him on purge missions with the four titled adventurers of Valenzia to finally begin reducing the numbers of horde lords in the region!”
Old Man Sanada was aware of a problem more urgent and significant than the one troubling Belford.
However, that didn’t mean the Valenzia Director’s concerns were invalid.
For the longest time, Belford had been pulling his hair out in frustration every time a new horde lord of rank (S+) or higher emerged in their region.
The only ones he could rely on were Valenzia’s four titled adventurers, as the region had no adventurers worthy of being acknowledged as a hero by the WAA.
Consequently, these four were perpetually overwhelmed, burdened with an endless workload they could never hope to manage alone.
Unfortunately, they had no choice but to embark on purging missions despite being severely understaffed, continuously pursuing horde lords even though they failed more often than they succeeded.
To address this issue, Belford hired high-ranked adamantites to assist the four titled adventurers in their missions.
However, this plan ultimately failed, as only those who were granted titles and crests were strong enough to hunt horde lords effectively, and sadly, Valenzia only had four such individuals.
Most of the high-ranked adamantite adventurers Belford hired either ended up dead or permanently disabled.
This was why, over the years, the number of horde lords amassing strength and armies around Valenzia’s death zones continued to grow, leading to imminent horde attacks that could devastate cities or even entire sub-regions.
A problem that was indeed worth pulling one’s hair over.
In Belford’s opinion, although Shye was still quite young, he was already capable of assisting the four titled adventurers.
Especially after receiving a hero’s crest, his attributes would receive a significant boost, and he would gain bonus elemental damage based on the elements that responded to the call of his crest.
It would naturally be better to wait a few more years to ensure that Shye would blossom into the finest adventurer Valenzia had ever produced.
However, time waits for no one, and the horde lords are already making their moves.
Valenzia was in desperate need of a hero, even if just one.
After witnessing Shye’s immaculate one-hit kill of an (S) ranked monstrous creature, Lord Hale Eversong, the director of the Yon Augenn region, was fully convinced.
There was no way the body of such an absurdly strong youngster wouldn’t be able to survive the engraving of a hero’s crest.
Hence…

“I agree, Belford. This shall be Shye Crowley’s last trial. If the extermination party successfully clears the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon, he shall be hailed as Valenzia’s first hero!”
It was as though nine tribulation lightning descended upon the hearts of Belford and the other old men after hearing Hale’s words.
After a millennium, Valenzia finally has someone who has earned the right to bear one of the seven prestigious regional hero crests.
A person the entire region can rely on in times of darkness, fear, and uncertainty.
Unfortunately, there would always be envious and insecure people who didn’t want to be overtaken by those behind them.
“L-Lord Eversong! I agree that Shye Crowley’s potential is immense, but that’s exactly why we shouldn’t burden him with such heavy responsibilities so early in his career. What if he gets permanently injured?” Lord Barley, the director of the ninth-ranked Krebori region, said.
Under the guise of concern, he attempted to manipulate the Yon Augenn director into reversing his decision as allowing Shye to rise as a regional hero would undoubtedly begin Valenzia’s golden age, potentially relegating them to the last-ranked region.
He, Barley Grant, would do everything in his power to prevent such a thing from happening.
Unfortunately for him, Hale was not assigned as the director of the most developed and competitive region for nothing.
The guy was miles ahead in terms of wits.
“I understand your point, Lord Grant. However, comfort breeds weakness, and facing difficult challenges fosters growth. We will not coddle Crowley. If he is worthy, he will live on.”
No shit he’ll live on! After such a horrifying display of talent, Barley was sure that it would be the monstrous creatures who would be in danger.
“B-but…Lord Everso–”
“My words are absolute, Barley Grant. Do you want to challenge my authority as the council’s head?”
Barley didn’t want to give up. However, after Lord Hale’s decisive and intimidating words, all he could do was clench his fists and hope that somehow Shye’s party would fail to clear the dungeon.
