Chapter 582: The Shorty and The Beauty
“Hoh, look, that shorty isn’t bad, no?”
“Yeah, but…I don’t know, I don’t like the panicky look on her face. Seems kinda fake…”
“I know, right? It’s like she’s deliberately seeking attention. I like the silver-haired woman beside her better”
Back at the Raven’s Blade Adventurer Guild’s Main Headquarters, a slight commotion started as two young women with aesthetically pleasing appearances entered, one of them showing clear signs of worry and panic.
Her beauty and expression undoubtedly stoked the protective flames in the hearts of a few kind-hearted and romantic men.
However, to the eyes of a few judgemental guildsmen, especially the jealous women, it seemed as though the expression on her face wasn’t sincere and was merely her deliberate ruse to attract attention for herself.
‘I-I should still have a few weeks left… Mother, little brother, please hang in there!’
Seira did everything she could to secure a promotion to the main branch, and fortunately, she made it just in time.
Now, she just needs to find her boss.
‘Phew…everything will be fine…’
“Seira, are you alright?” Luna, the former strongest adventurer of the Raven’s Blade Balkrow branch, said with a frown, slightly worried about the grape-haired shorty.
Over the past year, the two found each other’s company likable; thus, despite their glaring differences, the two grew rather close as both friends and comrades.
Luna even got promoted three months ago but chose to wait for Seira so they could report to the main branch together.
It was also a strategic decision, as traveling to Valenzia with a friend would not only be safer but also more enjoyable.
Over the past few months, the two had completed quests together, and there were several instances when Seira appeared distressed.
Luna had long suspected that Seira was dealing with a personal issue.
However, it seemed Seira didn’t trust her enough to share her secrets and struggles, so Luna could only wait for Seira to open up on her own.
The past few days have been different.
Seira’s distress seemed to have escalated to a whole new level as if she were running out of time, so Luna decided that she would decisively ask Seira about it after they completed their registration at the main branch.
Maybe she could help.
After around fifteen minutes, Luna and the desperate Seira finished their registration.
“L-Luna, I need to find boss Shye, will you wait for me at the lobby?”
Luna didn’t immediately agree. Instead, she remained silent for a second before speaking:
“Seira.” She said, the tone of her voice stern, successfully capturing the panicking Seira’s attention.
“L-Luna? What is it?”
“I’ve long known you have a personal problem. Won’t you tell me? I would like to help a friend out.”
Luna’s sincere words and slightly dejected and heartbroken tone struck a few chords inside Seira’s heart, triggering tears to stream down her cheeks.
This, of course, utterly surprised the onlookers.
A few thousand men immediately wanted to comfort the crying grape-haired shorty, sincerely viewing her this time as a soft and delicate flower that must be protected at all costs.
Even the ladies, who were jealous as they weren’t blessed with good looks and physiques, were taken aback.

It seemed that the poor newcomer was indeed distressed and was not acting one bit for the sake of mere attention.
Luna naturally noticed that people were watching them with varying expressions; hence, she immediately urged Seira to temporarily leave the main headquarters with her, leading her to a decent inn where they could talk it out in private.
There, she discovered the curse that was slowly killing Seira’s mother and little brother, and that the reason why Seira was so distressed was because she believed she had only a few weeks left, but feared it might be even less before her family succumbed.
“I-I see… I had no idea you were dealing with something so heavy all this time… It must have been really hard for you,” Luna replied, stuttering, unsure of how to handle such a situation.
She wanted to comfort Seira but didn’t know how, so she simply stayed silent, gently caressing Seira’s hair, hoping it would bring her some comfort.
Luckily for her, the shorty had a tough heart.
“Thank you for sharing my problems, Luna,” Seira said, wiping her tears with a smile. “I feel better now.”
“B-But I didn’t even do anything…”
“You definitely did! Just being there and listening sincerely lifted about fifty percent of my worries! I still have almost a month left, and I should trust Boss Shye more! After all, he’s never let me down before!”
Seira’s words caused Luna’s brows to furrow in confusion.
“Hmm? Do you mean Shye Crowley? Oh, right, you two were very close in the past weren’t you?”
“Yeah! And what do you mean ‘in the past’? We’re still close now! Plus, I really hope you two get along!” Seira exclaimed loudly, her voice full of energy, as she seemed to return to her old self after removing weights off her mind and heart.
“Hmm? Isn’t he a warrior? How can he help you?”
“Ha! You’re underestimating my boss! He told me that by the time I arrived, he’d have so many connections that finding diamond-ranked priests or priestesses to help cure my family would be easy. If he said it, he’ll definitely do it! Sigh… I can’t believe I was even worried! To think my faith in him weakened just because we’ve been apart for less than two years… I’ve failed as his underling!”
Seeing Seira revert to her old talkative self—the one who would endlessly sing Shye Crowley’s praises, just like when they first started questing together—Luna couldn’t help but smile.
She wasn’t sure if she had truly helped her friend, but as long as Seira was back to her cheerful self, that was enough for Luna.
“Hahaha, I see… So you’re back to being Shye Crowley’s—uh, what did you call yourself before? Ultimate underling, right?” Luna said with the sweetest laugh, reminiscent of honey.
Most men would be dying to see this side of her.
“Hahahaha! Yes, I’m back to being Shye Crowley’s ultimate underling!” Seira replied with a cute laugh of her own. “Let’s return to the guild and look for my boss.”
