Chapter 584: A Creature Of Legends
“No…f*cking…way…”
Shye was petrified, he couldn’t believe his eyes. In front of them was a creature of legends, extremely rare in the outside world.
Since the beginning of recorded history in Adthiopia, the monster before them had been sighted only twenty-six times. Of those encounters, ten resulted in fierce battles, with humans achieving victory in just three.
Even Shye doubted whether he was ready to fight it.
Towering at twenty-five meters on four muscular, thick legs covered in purple, scale-like armor, the monstrous creature boasted a pair of plum draconic wings tipped with metallic ivory spikes.
Its thick, long tail ended in four orbs of purple flame burning at the tip.
Stretching one hundred and fifty meters in length, it had a massive maw and pitch-black eyes, exuding an eerie yet majestic presence.
“V-V-Void Dragon!!!” Dalton exclaimed, stuttering, knees shaking in fear and trepidation.
Even Rai Hou’s mouth was agape, his entire body shivering.
They couldn’t believe that they, youngsters below the age of twenty-nine, would face off against a monstrous creature that only titled adventurers and heroes were qualified to battle.
They were but mere champions, tasked to perform mandatory missions too easy and numerous for the titled ones and heroes to waste their time on.
“Sh*t! Lord Eversong! This creature is more than what those youngsters could handle! Do we have a hero from any region we can dispatch to save them? If they could survive for an hour, perhaps…”
“Crowley! We at least need to save Crowley!”
Eight of the ten old men panicked upon seeing the Void Dragon, believing they’d messed up by not managing to provide the correct information.
They would never have thought that the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon was the next Ambrose Mana Dungeon.
With such a formidable guardian defending the dungeon, clearing it seemed nearly impossible.
If not for the heroic champion party, who persisted despite facing a significant setback at the start of their quest, the final guardian of Horza Blaidde would have remained hidden, continuing to grow in strength.
This would have caused yet another major headache for the WAA.
Not that the dungeon wasn’t already a problem, but for now, it remained manageable—unlike Ambrose.
Standing up from his seat while hiding his anxiety, Lord Hale Eversong raised his arms forward and issued orders.
“Lord Pevory, if I recall correctly, Albus Verona, the young scout hero of the Chellionne Region, isn’t currently on any mission. Order him to head to the tenth floor of Horza Blaidde and slay the Void Dragon! Give him a two-hour deadline! If he can at least rescue Shye Crowley, the WAA will reward him with the adamantite-ranked, mythical-tier dagger he’s always desired!”
Because of the twenty-nine-year-old age limit, they had only three heroes available to send for the champion party’s rescue.
Unfortunately, two of them were already on a crucial mission searching for traces of mythical beasts, leaving only the weakest of the three, Albus Verona, available for deployment.
Still, despite being the perceived weakest, his abilities were at least more than enough to save the champions should he make it on time even if he can’t slay the Void Dragon on his own.
“Understood, Lord Hale. I shall contact him.”
“Additionally, Lord Belford, Frozen End should still be at the Valenzia Headquarters. Contact her and inform her that her mission has changed—she is now to rescue the champion party on the tenth floor of the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon. She must coordinate with Albus Verona of the Poison Cloud and together slay the guardian, the Void Dragon!”
“Yes! Lord Hale!”
Nodding at the two lords, Hale Eversong and the ten old men sat down once more, resigned to doing the only thing they could: watching as ten unprepared youngsters faced off against a threat at the level of a titled adventurer or hero.

“Huh?! A Void Dragon?! Also, slay it in two hours?!”

A young man with short blonde hair, a bandana on his forehead, and a scar over his left eye—appearing to be around twenty-eight years old—exclaimed in utter disbelief.
“Yes, Sir Albus. The orders came directly from Lord Hale through Lord Pevory. Additionally, if you manage to save the champion named Shye Crowley, you’ll still receive the promised reward, even if all the other champions perish.”
“OHOH?! THE TETANUS DAGGER WILL BE MINE?! COUNT ME THE F*CK IN!!”
“Sir Albus, please watch your words. A hero shouldn’t be saying such vulgarities.”
“Oh, come on! You’re too stiff, Myrna! Calm down, will you? Well then, I’m off!”

Meanwhile, in a room at Valenzia Headquarters, a young woman of average height with long, silvery-blue hair frowned.
She slammed her crystalline elemental staff forcefully against the ground.
“What do you mean my mission has changed? I’ve prepared for this for an entire month!”
“M-Miss Iri–…Frozen End, the orders apparently came from Lord Hale himself…you know that Lord Belford can’t cross that man…”
“Tch, that incompetent old man! Whatever, I’ll just get this over with… I’ll bail after saving the champion party. To hell with the Void Dragon… Albus Verona of the Poison Cloud should be able to take it down on his own or he shouldn’t call himself a hero!”
“B-B-But Frozen End! The orders clearly state that you are to coordinate with Sir Albus and slay the void dragon!”
“Hmph! Didn’t you notice the part where the priority is saving Shye Crowley’s life? If they didn’t give me enough time to prepare, they can’t blame me if things go wrong!”
“B-But…”
“No buts! I’m leaving now—I’ve only got two hours, after all…”
In just a few minutes, two highly respected individuals from their regions raced toward the nearest teleporter, urgently acting on the mission assigned to them by their superiors. One was motivated by the rewards, while the other was driven by duty.
…
*CLANG!*
“Mister Dalton!”
A loud metallic clang followed by a distressed scream echoed through the strange guardian room as Dalton Kraus, after successfully blocking a simple swipe from the Void Dragon, was hurled across the room.
He rolled four times on the ground before coming to a stop, his insides churning and causing him to spit out blood.
‘Tch, this damned ape can’t even take a single hit?’ Shye inwardly cursed.
[Congratulations! You’ve learned the skill [Taunt Lv.1]
After a few quick yet subtle finger strokes, Shye learned the most basic of shielder-type warrior spells in exchange for a mere 500 points.
He then dashed forward as though a valiant hero facing off against the monstrosity threatening to plunge the world into chaos.
Upon arriving in optimal range…
‘Taunt!’
Red aura enveloped Shye’s body, successfully capturing the Void Dragon’s attention.
However, the next moment, an unforgettable event occurred that sent chills down their spines.
“Hoh, what a charming little trick to capture my attention, you audacious human. While it may be ineffective, I’ll give you a chance. Let’s see if you can protect your friends from me.”
