Chapter 587: Void Dragon’s Wrath
‘Yes! Yes! That’s it!’ Barley, the Kreborian director inwardly thought as he gazed at the holographic screen with a worried exterior.
However, in reality, he was cheering for the Void Dragon and didn’t care at all about Freeze.
Barley would rather see his own champion perish if it meant that Valenzia would lose Shye Crowley too.
It appeared that things were heading in that direction, as despite suffering a significant injury from one of Shye’s trump cards, Veidrax seemed as energetic as ever, if not more so.
The purple-scaled dragon was on a relentless rampage, unleashing rays, and blasts as it soared through the air, occasionally diving to strike with its claws and tail, all in a fury, its eyes blazing with purple flames.
Unfortunately for Veidrax and Barley, none of the attacks managed to land a clean hit on Shye, who sustained only minor injuries as he dashed, sidestepped, and teleported to safety, quickly depleting his mana and stamina.
If not for his enormous mana pool, he would have already run out of mana.
Veidrax also knew this, and that’s why it didn’t use any of its higher-tier skills. Its pride refused to allow it to do so against a mere youngster of a human.
This was the reason Shye managed to contain the Void Dragon for half an hour with barely any help from Rai Hou, giving the others enough time to set up multiple traps, albeit of the same kind.
Things were about to change soon, however, as Veidrax finally decided to end things once and for all, swallowing his pride.
For a human, this was a feat worthy of immense honor.
Shye, though, did not give one barren crap about the honor of forcing a dragon to swallow its pride. What was important for him was to survive.
So far, he’s doing a good job, surviving for a little over half an hour now without needing to use the traps set by his comrades.
If it was like this, then there was a chance. Even the ten old men felt hopeful.
Unfortunately, the manageable times came to an abrupt end as the Void Dragon, Veidrax, spread its wings and roared into the purple skies of its battle dimension, causing multiple magic circles of various sizes to appear five meters above its head.
Soon after, multiple devastating rays, destructive blasts, and void showers materialized one after another, unleashing utter havoc and chaos on Shye’s location, as well as on Rai Hou and the others, bombarding them with nearly endless void-type attacks.
Everyone instinctively used their own escape and self-preservation tactics—blinking, dashing, blocking—whatever it took to survive.
For esteemed regional champions, their awkward movements were far from impressive, but none of them cared.
Mira even stumbled a few times, managing to stay alive only through sheer luck and the favor of the gods and goddesses she worshiped.
Sadly, not everyone was as lucky.
Walter, who just emerged from his spatial tunnel, found himself face to face with an enormous void blast, but unfortunately, he wasn’t a chantless caster.
Thus, he still needed to chant for around half a second before he could cast another repositioning spell.
This resulted in the void blast obliterating him, erasing him from the dungeon, and turning him into mere mana particles that scattered across the battle dimension.
“Walter!”
“Mister Walter!!” Rai Hou and Mira exclaimed, expressions of utter shock and horror on their faces.
Dalton didn’t care about the mage’s death. However, he was equally horrified.
They still had to survive for twenty-five whole minutes.
He couldn’t help but doubt their chances as with just a single attack of mass devastation, one of them already died.
“You bastard, Freeze! Where are you?! When will you help?!” Dalton screamed in panic and frustration.
He knew deep down that the Kreborian scout wouldn’t be able to do anything about the situation, it was just that he wanted to pin the blame on someone.

Unsettlingly, no one responded, leaving them confused for a few moments before their hearts started racing once more.
They haven’t seen Freeze for quite a while!
There seemed to be no escaping the battle dimension as one could only enter but not leave. Hence, it could only mean one thing: the incompetent scout was already dead.
“S-Shit! Rai Hou, what should we do?!”
This time, Dalton didn’t even hide the fact that he was scared.
Initially, there were seven of them, but now only four remained. Most people would naturally start to tremble, believing they would be the one to perish next.
‘How should I know?’ Rai Hou inwardly retorted, gnashing his teeth as the gears of his brain shifted and turned, desperate to think of a solution on how to survive for the next twenty-two minutes.
The earlier void barrage destroyed all the traps they had set, rendering their efforts wasted.
‘Think, Rai Hou, think!’

Just as he was at his wit’s end, a black ray shot up into the purple skies.
The young man had two blackish-transparent, decaying mana wings on his back, with circular waves of wind swirling around his feet and back, assisting him in flying.
“Crowley!”
‘Seems like surviving for an entire hour was nothing but a pipe dream…’ Shye pondered as he looked down at the Void Dragon, who was also looking at him with narrowed eyes. ‘Fine then, I shall fight for victory!’
After deciding that they wouldn’t be able to live if they simply defended and kept themselves alive, Shye courageously flew straight at Veidrax, who was momentarily stunned before erupting into anger.
“Hoh, you dare believe you can defeat me in battle when you barely survived my attacks, human?” The Void Dragon said, opening its maw to blast the zooming Shye into smithereens.
“Heh, I simply thought it would be easier to wait for reinforcements before slaying you, dragon. I’ll admit, I underestimated you. It seems surviving an hour against you is impossible,” Shye said, appeasing Veidrax’s prideful and furious heart, only to enrage it again in the next moment:
“However, that plan was just for the sake of efficiency. To be honest, I do fancy my chances of defeating you if I go all out. How about we try it out?”
