Chapter 590: A Reliable Comrade
“Im…possible…”
A dying primordial voice echoed across the vanishing battle dimension as countless mana particles filled the air, the death throes of a creature that once reigned supreme amongst many others, including those of other races.
It was a heartbroken cry of demise from Veidrax, who did not manage to drag Shye and Albus down with it as a sudden, unbelievably thick ice wall successfully defended the group of young adventurers from the detonation blast of its core.
As the battle dimension dissolved into countless mana orbs, another staircase was revealed, leading to a small concrete chamber containing nothing but an azure orb placed atop a small concrete podium.
One could even see the orb from the room they had entered before being engulfed by Veidrax’s battle domain.
However, no one had noticed the staircase yet, as their eyes were fixed on a young woman of about twenty-eight years.
Her long silvery-blue hair, stunning face, and perfectly sculpted physique stirred the deepest desires in men.
The cold expression on her face commanded unwavering loyalty, giving her an air of dignity that surpassed even that of heroes.
She was the most talented among the four titled adventurers of Valenzia—the chantless caster, Frozen End.
Albus Verona of the Poison Cloud, although rather friendly, also had an air of arrogance around him.
He was someone who didn’t like befriending people who weren’t talented enough to be on the same level as him.
Thus, when Albus learned that his reinforcement was just a titled adventurer from the most remote region, he only intended to greet her with the bare minimum of courtesy.
However, the formidable ice wall from earlier, combined with Frozen End’s commanding presence, compelled him to reconsider.
His keen instincts regarding a person’s talents were rarely mistaken, and it told him that the female titled adventurer in front of him was someone who could stand toe-to-toe with heroes like him.
“I’m Albus Verona of the Poison Cloud. Nice to meet you, Frozen End of Valenzia.”
“Likewise, Sir Albus.”
The rather short greeting from Frozen End slightly displeased the Chellione Hero. However, it also served to increase the young man’s interest in the titled adventurer.
Unfortunately for Albus, the beautiful, icy young woman’s attention was focused on another man, one who was about four or five years younger than him.
“Shye Crowley, we finally meet. I’ve heard of your feats.”
“Likewise, Frozen End. I’ve heard of your legends as well.”
“I’ve heard that you’re also a chantless caster like me. Care to demonstrate?”
“Sure.”
Shye found Frozen End’s personality rather likable. Hence, he was willing to do a quick demonstration for her.
‘Fireball!’ He thought to himself, causing an enormous fireball to erupt from his elemental staff.
It obliterated a large portion of the room, leaving his extermination party comrades with stupefied expressions.
Meanwhile, Frozen End simply nodded in satisfaction, thinking she had found another reliable comrade who would help lighten her workload.
She didn’t care whether he was a jerk or a nice guy.
As long as he did his job well, they wouldn’t have any issues.
“I apologize for being late. That incompetent old man only informed me an hour ago that you needed assistance.”
‘Incompetent old man?’ Shye wondered, recalling the voice from the mana communicator’s message earlier. ‘Could it be that old voice from earlier?’

“No worries, you came just in time. If not for you, a few of us probably would’ve died.”
Nodding at Shye, Frozen End scanned her eyes over his comrades.
“Hmm, quite the incompetent group. It’s no wonder you needed help,” she said bluntly, causing Dalton to grind his teeth, Mira to look down in embarrassment, and Rai Hou to clench his fists in frustration.
“What did you say?! You insolent b*tch from Valenzia, repeat that to my face and I’ll teach you a lesson!” the brutish ape roared in anger, his deep-seated disdain for Valenzians clouding his already poor judgment.
“Hoh, I said you’re incompetent. Come then, teach me a lesson.” Frozen End retorted with a disdainful smile, waiting for Dalton to make a move.
“HAAAAH!”
Finally exploding in anger, Dalton dashed forward, instantly appearing in front of Frozen End with his shield raised, ready to bash her with all his might.
He acknowledged that Shye Crowley was indeed strong, but he refused to believe he would need to show respect to more than one Valenzian.
“Heh, this is why I said you’re incompetent. Do you even have a brain?” Frozen End said with a mocking smile, not moving an inch from her original position.
Yet, Dalton couldn’t advance another inch, feeling a biting coldness creeping from his feet up to his knees.
“What’s happening?! Release me, you b*tch!”
“Keep calling me a b*tch and I’ll cut your head off,” She said with unparalleled coldness, sending shivers down everyone’s spine, including Albus.
‘This young woman is clearly more than just a titled adventurer… The ones from my region would be no match for her, at least. Why was she even hiding her strength from the world?’ the Chellione hero pondered with narrowed eyes.
Upon hearing Frozen End’s words, Dalton felt a cold sweat trickling down his back. He dared not speak again.
However, contrary to his expectation that the Valenzian titled adventurer would release him, the icy shards continued to rise, slowly encasing him in an icy tomb.
“Release me! Haven’t I stopped insulting you?!”
“Heh, I promised I wouldn’t cut your head off. Naturally, releasing you is a different matter. If you want to be freed, you’ll need to apologize.”
“You b–”
Dalton wanted to call Frozen End a b*tch once more, but her ice-cold gaze made him feel as if his life were flashing before his eyes. Despite this, he couldn’t bring himself to apologize.
The icy tomb continued to advance, and he was running out of time.
As the shards advanced to his neck, Dalton finally realized that his life was more important than his foolish pride.
Thus, with gritted teeth, he uttered an apology.
“I-I apologize, please release me.”
“Hmph, wasn’t so hard, was it?”
