Chapter 604: Eduardo
“Phew, this place should do…”
Upon discovering that guilds from Roddentrodge City, Valenzia’s second-ranked city, were issuing quests to hunt Nookie, Shye realized it couldn’t stay in its former training grounds.
The situation was too dangerous, particularly with the necrollin’s puppets now reduced to just two formidable corpses: an (A) ranked Ember Wyvern and an (S) ranked Bloodwyrm, along with a few slightly damaged adventurer corpses it was keeping temporarily.
It would be hard for the little guy to defend itself should another purge party attack.
Thus, Shye decided to head over to Valenzia Region’s vastest and most dangerous Death Zone, the Edenheim Death Zone, where (A) ranked to (S-) ranked creatures were aplenty and (S) ranked creatures ran amuck.
Then, after finding a suitable area close to multiple apex lairs, a water source, and small (S-) ranked creature domains, Shye decided to set up camp, nary a hint of fear in his heart.
He got so used to fighting such high-ranked creatures, in disadvantageous situations even, that they scared him no longer.
He was already numb to the auras of (S-) ranked monstrous creatures and below; and only (S) ranked ones could make his heart race, the intensity depending on which creature he was facing.
It was the inevitable outcome and growth after fighting and taking down a Void Dragon.
Shye’s hands moved deftly, his seasoned movements allowing him to finish setting up his camp in merely ten minutes, campfire at the ready and all.
Now, it was time for Zeth and Nookie’s most anticipated moment: hunting.
Shye decided to go with Nookie, allowing the duchess to run free and wreak as much havoc as it wanted inside the death zone for an entire week, consuming cores as though they were chocolate chip cookies.
Meanwhile, he boosted his agility, dexterity, and intelligence attributes by fifty each, following Sanada’s advice, which brought his remaining point savings down to 300,000.
He believed that he would soon earn a lot of points again, however, so he didn’t mind spending points.
A pity that he couldn’t broadcast his current hunts, as it would reveal Nookie’s prowess.
The scrawny necrollin was his hidden ace. He couldn’t just reveal how strong it was to the world.
For an entire week, Shye fought and killed (S-) ranked monsters alone, collecting new puppets for Nookie to use.
He even took care to inflict minimal damage on the bodies, targeting the creatures’ brains to ensure the rest of their bodies remained intact.
However, dealing with (S)-ranked monsters was a different story.
He had to rely on Nookie’s help and couldn’t afford to hold back.
A single mistake could be fatal, and it was only thanks to his Impious Origin Belt’s [Barrier of the Condemned], which had saved him over twenty times, that he could continue hunting.
His recently enhanced agility, dexterity, and intelligence also contributed to his survival.
By the end of the week, he and Nookie managed to hunt fifteen (S-) ranked monstrous creatures and three (S) ranked ones, albeit all on a significantly lower level than the Void Dragon.
Fortunately, out of the fifteen (S-)-ranked creatures, the Necrollin managed to turn nine into its puppets, with only one being usable in the (S)-ranked category: the (S)-ranked Moon Wolf.
Nevertheless, it was a substantial harvest that would enable Nookie to gather more puppets on its own, especially since it could now control even (S) ranked puppets with ease.
Whether it could maintain that smooth and masterful control as the number of its puppets increased, only time would tell.
Zeth was quite pleased with her harvest as well, having successfully slain thirty (S-)-ranked creatures and five (S)-ranked ones, consuming their cores in the process.
However, she was forced to retreat from a pair of (S)-ranked Solar Serpents after mistakenly engaging them at high noon when their power was at its peak.
It was only a week of grinding.
In just a week of grinding, Shye’s core forces—though only consisting of Zeth, Nookie, and its puppets—had already become a formidable power that even an entire hero party might struggle to subdue, depending on which region’s heroes they were.

Nevertheless, Shye knew that this force of his was merely weak and destitute, average at best, compared to Dweezel’s and the old man’s.
He, Zeth, and Nookie needed to grow stronger, and quickly.
Realizing that he had to stop training for now as his hero’s inauguration was drawing near, Shye found himself in a dilemma.
Nookie and his corpse army were indeed strong.
However, the Edenheim Death Zone was the most dangerous place in all of Valenzia.
While it might be relatively safe for Nookie to hunt with him and Zeth nearby, it was far too risky to let it hunt alone due to the myriad of dangers, the most formidable of which were dragons.
Within the Edenheim Death Zone were pure-blooded dragons far stronger than Veidrax, and even Zeth didn’t dare approach them for now.
Should Nookie encounter one, its damaged (S) ranked corpses would be no different than paper shields, as a dragon’s power could even easily destroy the scales of other dragons who boast unmatched toughness and defensive capabilities.
Additionally, its mount, the Ember Wyvern, wouldn’t be fast enough to outrun such powerful sovereigns, whose wings were far stronger and much larger than those of a wyvern.
After mulling over things for a while, Shye decided that it would be better for Nookie to stop training alone for now.
He would think of a way to allow it to grow its corpse army again, but for now, Nookie shall hide in void pockets and follow him around.
However, there was one problem.
‘How can we bring its corpse army along?’ He wondered.
Zeth wanted to help her master and guide him, but unfortunately, she wasn’t familiar with this world that much yet so her age didn’t translate into experience.
In the end, Shye turned to Nookie and asked the little necrollin.
“Hey, Nookie, I have decided that it would be too dangerous for you to hunt alone for now so I’m thinking of taking you along with me,” Shye said with a serious expression, taking the little necrollin’s corpse puppets very seriously as it cherished its army with much love and care.
“However, I must apologize in advance, as I can’t bring all of your corpse puppets with us; my corpse containers are limited. We should find a safe place to hide them and return later to retrieve them.”
Corpse containers were costly in terms of system points, and it would be highly inefficient to spend a large number of points on purchasing additional containers.
Oddly enough, Nookie didn’t seem upset by the news, leading Shye to believe that the arrangement he proposed was acceptable to the little necrollin.
He didn’t expect that Nookie would have another handy skill that would solve the corpse container problem.
“Worry not, master. Nookie had already created Void Containers for my corpses in the past week. I can bring them along with me.”
Shortly after asserting that he could store all his corpses in a Void Container he had created, Nookie performed a series of hand seals before slamming both its slender hands into the ground.
Enormous purple cracks then appeared, gradually widening and causing twelve massive purple caskets to rise from the earth, emerging with a surprising silence, like a still lake.
“Damn! Nookie, that’s really handy! What is this technique of yours called?”
Well, Shye already knew.
However, he was also aware that the little necrollin loved boasting whenever it could, so he gave it a chance to do so.
“Hahaha! I’m awesome aren’t I, master?” Nookie boasted proudly, clearing its throat. “Ahem! Behold! I would like to call this technique, the “Ed–”
“The Ed?” Shye asked with a confused expression as it seemed that the little necrollin abruptly cut its own words.
“Ah, I apologize, master! I just recalled my father, who was the first to master this technique. He demonstrated it to me once before he suddenly vanished, leaving me alone. Fortunately, I was adopted by my previous master.”
Shye blinked his eyes, taken aback by the sudden backstory.
“Let me continue! I call this technique, the Eduardo Tensei! In honor of my father, Eduardo the Necrollin Master Puppeteer!”
Again, Shye couldn’t help but blink his eyes repeatedly, extremely amused at the necrollin’s antics.
He already appraised the necrollin, and the skill was simply called [Necrollin’s Void Storage]. It was definitely not called Eduardo Tensei in the slightest!
