Chapter 605: Surrounded
With Zeth’s help, Shye and Nookie quickly arrived at Valenzia City’s majestic and glorious gates, the latter exiting the void pocket before they reached the entrance.
Shye didn’t dare risk challenging the city’s security, as the situation might only get dicier if Nookie was caught infiltrating through its void pockets.
Should that happen, it would definitely be more difficult for him to explain, a not-so-ideal scenario for someone about to be inaugurated as a hero
He had Nookie’s registration papers anyway. There was no need to hide.
His decision proved correct as the check didn’t even last five minutes. He was, after all, the renowned Shye Crowley, undoubtedly an adventurer of Valenzia City.
However, the guards asked him to update Nookie’s papers and inform the WAA that his necrollin puppeteer had evolved into a master puppeteer.
Shye naturally agreed as it was only right and just.
Subsequently, upon entering, he quickly headed towards the city hall to meet Blas and talk about his hero’s inauguration.
“Ahem!” Blas cleared his throat with a slight cough, glancing at Shye with an apologetic expression. “C-Crowley, I must apologize for the slight delay in your inauguration. To be honest, it’s rather strange—many members of the WAA Senate submitted a request to reject your hero’s inauguration. When that attempt failed, they filed another request, this time to delay the ceremony and move it to the WAA main headquarters in the Yon Augenn Region.”
Upon hearing Blas’ words, Shye’s eyes narrowed into slits.
He couldn’t remember doing anything to displease the WAA.
If anything, he had been the most loyal of dogs during the past year, even clearing a few thorny problems for them like the Horza Blaidde Mana Dungeon.
He couldn’t understand why there would be opposition within the WAA to his hero’s inauguration.
Why were some people so adamantly against Valenzia having its first hero? Were they deliberately trying to suppress the region to maintain the status quo?
These were the questions that swirled in Shye’s mind.
However, the next moment, Blas once again spoke, leaving Shye even more confused.
“If not for the majority of the directors advocating for your inauguration, it would have been postponed even longer. Fortunately, although the venue was moved to the main headquarters in the Yon Augenn Region, the delay was only by a week.” The city lord paused for a moment, gauging Shye’s reaction before continuing:
“You’ll need to head to Yon Augenn City. However, since it’s the WAA’s main stronghold, there’s no direct teleporter to the city, and even our special teleporter won’t work there. I suggest teleporting to Yonpo City and then traveling by foot to Yon Augenn. With your familiar, it shouldn’t be too difficult. You should make it in three to four days.”
Shye thanked Blas and offered a profound bow before saying farewell.
He wanted to explore Yon Augenn City and its surroundings, scouting out the nearby adventurer zones.
So, he decided to leave early, giving himself three days to arrive and have time to roam and explore.
But first, he made a quick stop at the WAA headquarters in Valenzia to request an update to Nookie’s credentials.
After all, with his fame and authority as a regional champion, it would only take about ten minutes to get it done.
Once finished, he immediately headed towards the special teleporter in the city square, disappearing as a striking azure ray emerged from the teleporter’s magic circle, devouring his silhouette and transporting him to a faraway city—one that was somehow far more developed than the capital city of his region.
Skyscrapers that rose to the skies and made contact with the clouds towered over the world as though sovereign kings looking down on their subjects.
Streets that were wider, built with more luxurious materials, and far more bustling than those in Valenzia could be seen at every turn. Both common folk and adventurers had smiles on their faces, and various shops were thriving.
He had believed it would be difficult to surpass Valenzia City, only to discover, to his surprise, that there were plenty of cities in other regions that were not only comparable but in some cases even better.
At that moment, he had to accept that Valenzia was indeed a backwater region.
‘Hmph! Doesn’t mean it will stay that way forever!’ He consoled himself.
For the next sixteen hours, Shye explored the city, entering various shops that took his fancy and purchased a few handy items and consumables, pleasantly surprised that there was a branch of Constantine Consumables in Yonpo City.

He also ate at seafood restaurants in the city, though he was a bit disappointed to find that the taste of the dishes wasn’t that much better than those in Valenzia City.
It seemed that some things truly have limits, and cuisine was one such thing.
After fully indulging in everything Yonpo City had to offer, Shye checked into an inn and slept for eight hours.
Then, at first light, he left the city and headed toward Yon Augenn City, eager to receive his hero’s crest, which was said to significantly boost his attributes.
He and the little imp naturally rode Zeth, as traveling would be faster that way and they could indeed reach Yon Augenn City within three to four days with how fast the duchess galloped across the lands.
The first day of travel passed without a hitch.
Although he came across an (S-)-ranked creature that had wandered out of the nearby Death Zone to hunt, it quickly became one of Nookie’s puppets.
Its brain was obliterated by a single multicolored beam, one of Shye’s trump cards, [Ninth Devastation Ray], which then went on cooldown for the next eight hours.
Zeth didn’t even have to move a muscle and merely watched her master slaughter the (S-) ranked Thunder Serpent.
The second day went even more smoothly, with no encounters with creatures outside the adventurer zones and no bandits daring to attack.
It was likely that a strong individual among the bandits sensed how dangerous the trio was.
On the third day, however, Shye’s eyes widened as a familiar person barred his path, more than thirty adamantite-ranked adventurers protecting the individual.
“Mister Crowley. I’ve tried time and again to retrieve Miss Koneko’s h-h-head from you as peacefully as possible. You forced me to do this…”
