Chapter 607: The Notorious Rogue’s Reputation
“You heard her, Shye Crowley—prepare to die! Perhaps you shouldn’t have been so arrogant or let your light shine so brightly!” Dante declared with a grin, raising his arms as if delivering a divine judgment on the young man before him.
Soon after, a 200-meter-diameter isolation dome emerged from the ground, designed to mask the assassination by projecting an illusion of peaceful surroundings.
This dome would envelop everyone inside for two full hours.
While it could be destroyed, it would require at least ten powerful attacks from Zeth to break it down, making that strategy impractical for Shye’s small group.
‘Heh, there’s no need to escape anyway.’ Shye inwardly sneered in disdain as his eyes darted around, analyzing the movements of the adamantite-ranked adventurers, who were walking playfully toward their designated positions.
“Heh, bring it on. Forty-two adamantite-ranked adventurers? Come. Let’s find out if your ambush squad has what it takes to pose even a slight threat to me and my crew!” Shye declared arrogantly, signaling to Nookie to show the hired goons that they weren’t trapping him inside the dome with them—instead, they were the ones trapped inside with him.
“Right away, master! Corpse summoning technique: Eduardo Tensei!”
With a sinister cackle, Nookie’s eyes turned pitch-black, his hands and fingers moving rapidly, performing various seals in a specific order.
Shortly after, thirteen void caskets emerged from the ground, their covers dissipating into purple particles that scattered into the four winds, revealing thirteen horrifying monstrosities.
Twitching for one second, the monster corpses roared, sending chills down the assassins’ spine and striking fear into their little human hearts.
This naturally included Dante, whose mouth was agape upon seeing the horrors moving in front of him as though they were alive.
“Hey! Mira! You said this guy only had one familiar as strong as an apex (S) ranked creature! So what the hell is this?!” he barked, demanding an explanation from Mira, who was equally as shocked.
They naturally saw the necrollin behind Shye. However, there were multiple types of necrollins.
None of them had anticipated that Nookie was a Master Puppeteer—the most dangerous kind of necrollin, often accompanied by multiple corpses that were far stronger than itself.
“I-I don’t know! I-I had no idea he had a tamed monster!” Mira exclaimed, her heart pounding furiously. If even Dante, usually so confident, was showing signs of panic, it was a clear indication that they were in a very dire situation.
She wanted to drop to her knees and beg for forgiveness right then and there.
Unfortunately, her sharp mind quickly grasped that if she did, everyone she brought here would likely end up dead—except for her.
Her heart was already struggling with the weight of the current mission, let alone the added guilt of treacherously saving herself at the cost of others’ lives.
The thought that kept swirling in her mind was, ‘What have I become…?’
At that moment, Mira appeared neither graceful nor holy; instead, she looked more like a mad witch, torn between morals and selfish, personal wishes.
Fortunately, Dante’s moment of doubt was quickly replaced by a resolute determination, restoring hope to the young priestess’s heart.
“Hmph, I’ll admit you’re quite capable, Shye Crowley. But if you believe this is enough to stop us, you’re delusional! You’re not the only one with an army! Everyone, summon your familiars!”
Everyone there was an adamantite-ranked adventurer, except for Shye, who was still of Mithril rank.
Most of them had their own familiars, though they were of much lower quality compared to Shye’s
. Various accessories—necklaces, anklets, and bracelets—transformed into a diverse array of creatures. These included rodents, felines, canids, and more, all about half the height of a typical human.
Yet, despite their size, they exuded an aura comparable to (B-) ranked monsters and higher.
“Master, you called?” The creatures exclaimed in unison, which, in turn, increased the confidence of the adamantite-ranked adventurers.
Their familiars might be small.
However, they had a wide array of skills that could pose a lot of problems for Shye’s famously strong king-class familiar.
Only, the adventurers didn’t anticipate that when their familiars saw Zeth, most of them would tremble, with only a few managing to control their fear.

“H-Hiih! T-T-The duchess! Why is the Duchess of the Dusk here?!” One of them exclaimed in utter horror.
Most of them recognized Zeth as the notorious rogue who caused endless trouble for the eight spirit kings.
Now that they have to fight such a horrifying familiar spirit, they would naturally cower, all master-familiar ties be damned.
“Arne! Explain! Who is this familiar spirit?”
A few anxious members of the adamantite group attempted to closely examine Shye’s familiar, but they were unsuccessful due to the lack of information.
Since it was Zeth’s first appearance in this world, all they could determine was that it was only a king-class familiar, leading them to believe it might be easier to defeat than anticipated.
“M-M-Master, please let me return to my world! I don’t want to die yet! Please, master! If you truly value our bond, please…” the fire fox named Arne pleaded desperately, seemingly losing its sanity.
Soon, the other familiars began to beg as well, with only a few resigning themselves to die alongside their master, clinging to the delusion that their master-familiar bonds might somehow lead to a miracle and help them survive the situation.
“Arne! Stop speaking crap! Didn’t we resolve to live and die together?!” Arne’s master, a man named Emmanuel, exclaimed in anger, the fear in his heart burgeoning. “Tell me, who is this duchess of the dusk you speak of?!”
“M-Master! Do you remember the eight spirit kings I told you about?”
“Yes, I recall. A few of them have been summoned here as well, but I don’t remember a duchess of the dusk among them.”
“T-Then, do you remember the notorious rogue I mentioned, the one who survived and escaped even when attacked by three of the eight kings?”
“T-There’s no way…”
“Yes, Master! This is that notorious rogue spirit, Zeth, known as the Duchess of the Dusk in our world! Please, Master! I can’t fight such a spirit! Let me live!”
