Chapter 623: Dweezel Hawkins, A Master Of His Craft
“BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
The most boisterous laughter Shye and Reginald had ever heard in their lives echoed from behind them, assaulting their ears and nearly causing the two youngsters to jump in fright.
“Dweezel was definitely the most incompetent among the seven of us! I knew perceptive people would see the truth! That bastard was only good at putting on a show and winning over the crowd! His actual abilities were nothing but a bunch of bullcrap!” Sanada said enthusiastically, his spit flying everywhere in his excitement.
“Ooh! If I could get my hands on that bastard right now… I’d beat the crap out of him! I guarantee it, one hundred percent—no, a thousand percent!”
Hearing the old man’s confident words, Shye and Reginald grew more confident as well.
Dweezel Hawkins was the hidden leader of the opposing faction.
If Sanada, their faction’s leader, was confident he could beat up his rival, it was undoubtedly reassuring for their followers.
“Only…” The old man suddenly continued, causing the two youngsters’ brows to furrow. “As I told you, Crowley, we humans have a limit that we can’t break through, no matter how hard we try, because we are mere mortals destined to live under the rule of the gods and goddesses.”
Reginald was confused. However, Shye had an idea of what the old man was talking about.
‘Ah, so that’s where I come in, huh? The only person in the world whose body has no limits… the only man with even the slightest chance of challenging gods and goddesses…’ he thought, now fully realizing just how overpowered his [Epic]-tier inborn talent was.
The old man, smiling at the thinking youngster, then continued:
“I’ve already reached my mortal limits. I’m sure Dweezel has as well, although I could still beat the crap out of him any day since his combat intelligence is pretty low. Hahahaha!”
“Unfortunately, he has an army of heroes and former heroes, and the entire WAA backing him. For now, at least so taking them all on would be difficult even for me. But don’t worry, for I, Sanada Eiichiro, have a plan. For now, keep watching the battle and absorb as much insight as you can.”
The two youngsters nodded and tuned in once more.
Vidarr Oregon of the Growling Blades, despite being a dual-wielder, was holding his own impressively against the Black Dragon.
“Holding his own” meant he managed to stand his ground for a few seconds, skillfully parrying and using his defensive skills with immaculate timing and allowing Sanada and the other ranged attackers to bombard the monstrous deity with various terrifyingly powerful attacks.
Additionally, the few seconds he bought were enough to allow young Dweezel Hawkins of the Golden Sun to recover, allowing him to return to battle and aid his comrades.
By this point, it seemed like the Yon Augenn Seven were winning decisively.
However, only they, the heroes, knew the truth.
Despite unleashing their most powerful skills to blast the monstrous deity into pieces, it remained as strong, vigorous, and ferocious as ever.
It was as if the numerous shallow wounds on its massive body hadn’t affected it in the slightest.
They slowly ran out of options as time went by.
Fortunately, none of them appeared to be severely wounded, which, from the perspective of the hopeful masses, was both glorious and reassuring.
Even the WAA let the common people sink further into the delusion that the Yon Augenn Seven were winning, to prevent panic.
However, the ten WAA directors knew just how precarious the situation was for the seven heroes, who were barely holding on just minutes into the combat.
Naturally, Shye and Reginald were far from incompetent, and they also understood that despite the heroes’ impressive appearance, young Sanada and the others were narrowly managing to survive.
They, particularly Shye, could sense the heavy atmosphere, as he, now a hero himself, might face a similar situation in the future.
Before he knew it, he found himself cheering for the seven, especially Dweezel, who, despite contributing only a little, seemed to be the most heroic of them all.
‘Heh, this evil bastard sure can show off…I have a lot to learn.’ He mused.
Suddenly, the Black Dragon paused its attacks, appearing to charge up for a powerful strike that none of the seven could survive, even if they began fleeing with all their might at that very moment.

Unfortunately, retreat was not an option for the seven, who were bound by their duty to support the sky as it fell until their last breath.
Millions of lives and millennia of architecture lay beneath them.
Their bodies would have to be reduced to mere particles before they could permit the world’s capital city to fall.
Fortunately, they had prepared an item in advance for such a situation, and it naturally ended up in Dweezel’s hands, as he was adept at making himself appear the most impressive.
He managed to convince everyone, including Sanada, that he should be the one to activate the item.
Dweezel argued that, as the weakest among them, if the item failed, only he would perish, using some persuasive but dubious reasoning.
According to the manipulative bastard’s honeyed words, there would still be a chance as long as the other six remained alive.
This set of sweet-sounding words was what convinced the other six to give the item to Dweezel.
“Sh*t!” Young Sanada cursed. “Dweezel!”
Naturally, Dweezel Hawkins, master of ultimate credit-grabbing schemes, seized the opportunity.
He positioned himself a few meters in front of the other six, ensuring he stood out, and then took out a golden orb from his spatial bag, infusing it with mana.
In the next moment, a warm and gentle golden portal appeared before him, completely enveloping the eerily silent ball of darkness shot by the Black Dragon and redirecting it to the vast ocean, where it exploded and caused countless marine creatures to lose their lives.
“Damn it, old man. I have to admit, the bastard truly is a master of his craft! After such a flawless display, won’t the rest of you seem useless in comparison?”
