Chapter 631: Reginald’s Trump Card
*FWOOSH!*
Winds parted as Reginald charged forward, his dagger glowing an eerie red.
The skill the older scout used was quite similar to one of Shye’s trump cards, [Nightfall Reaper], in the sense that it was silent as midnight.
However, just from one look, Shye already knew that the skill-infused dagger was extremely lethal, and it would probably take his life should he take it head-on.
‘Hmm…that red glow probably enhances his dagger’s sharpness or something. However…’
Shye was honestly a bit disappointed.
If this was Reginald’s ultimate killing move, Shye thought it seemed a bit too weak, as there were several ways to counter it.
Even he had multiple strategies to handle it.
However, he wouldn’t express this directly to Reginald, as it would be unnecessarily rude. He aimed to humble the older scout somewhat but didn’t want to completely shatter Reginald’s ego and pride.
Thus, Shye decided to simply keep his mouth shut and deal with the attack.
‘There’s no need to use my [Barrier of the Condemned] here…’ He inwardly thought, opting to [Blink] backward and exchange both greatswords with his ruby-tier elemental staff and his legendary adamantite-tier black shield.
‘Fireball! Icicle Spear! Rock Bullets!…’
Shye then fired one basic spell after the other while retreating, causing all sorts of problems for the charging Reginald who had to sidestep, jump, and perform rolls to dodge.
Yet, strangely, there was no hint of panic or worry in Reginald’s face.
‘Hmm? There should be a time limit for this weapon and probably attribute enhancement skill of his, no?’ He mused, continuing to fire spell after spell.
However, soon, Reginald stopped dodging his projectiles. Instead, the scout started to face them head-on.
He somehow magically sliced each spell apart as though they were nothing.
This unusual sight finally elicited a reaction from Shye, who was dealing with Reginald’s somewhat underwhelming killing move.
With narrowed eyes, he retreated further. Shye then used his trusty barrage combo.
Unfortunately, the results were the same. Each fire bomb and frozen thorn was sliced apart.
‘What the f*ck?’ Shye inwardly cursed in confusion.
He could not believe what Reginald was doing, especially the fact that even after two minutes, Reginald’s skill was still active.
‘Well, he was the one who first used cunning tactics, so he can’t blame me for doing the same.’
Shye was starting to get creeped out.
Hence, he opted for another tactic he had in mind on how to deal with Reginald’s killing move: wait for it to time out using [Flight].
He believed it was unlikely that the skill could remain active for as long as he could stay afloat.
‘Flight!’
The winds swirled around his feet, lifting him higher and higher, away from the threat of the suddenly superhuman Reginald.
It was about time for his opponent to start cursing in anger at his rather clever but slightly underhanded tactic.
To Shye’s surprise, Reginald remained calm, periodically leaping toward him in an attempt to pull him down from the sky.

Naturally, the older scout’s jumps had their limits, allowing Shye to maintain an altitude of forty meters—a height that was neither too high nor too low.
By his calculations, he could stay airborne for a full twelve minutes, despite the high mana cost of sustaining the [Flight] skill.
The first minute dragged on for Shye as he patiently awaited the moment the eerie red glow would fade.
However, no such thing happened. Nevertheless, he still had eleven minutes, there was no need for him to rush.
Even though the skill lasted far longer than he expected and its performance exceeded the typical limits of a mere weapon and attribute enhancement, there was no way it could persist for a full twelve minutes.
Or so Shye thought…
The next few minutes passed quickly, and the unease in his heart gradually bloomed into anxiety and… a touch of fear.
For the first time in his life, Shye felt truly threatened by someone his own age.
Reginald’s skill was unnervingly abnormal, and his eerie calmness and patience as he waited below only deepened Shye’s unease.
‘What the f*ck is up with this skill?! It’s been ten minutes!’ Shye inwardly cursed. He had never seen an enhancement skill with such a long duration.
Inevitably, he had to slowly descend and deactivate the spell as he couldn’t actually allow his mana to run out, especially since Regi’s trump card seemed to have no intention of timing out.
Nevertheless, Shye spent his time thinking while airborne. He concluded that it was time to execute his third plan.
After successfully landing a few meters away from the waiting Reginald, Shye immediately charged, this time daring to fight the creepy superhuman version of his opponent head-on.
Naturally, Reginald immediately stabbed at Shye, confident that his dagger would land first.
With how fast his opponent currently was, Shye also thought that it was inevitable that he would be struck first.
However, it was of little consequence to him.
As the dagger approached, Shye activated his Impious Origin Belt’s skill, [Barrier of the Condemned], allowing him to easily receive Reginald’s attack.
He then grabbed the scout’s neck and ruthlessly smashed him onto the ground.
‘Phew…that should do it…’ Shye inwardly sighed in relief.
There was no way that Reginald could’ve been conscious after such a violent blow to the head.
Unfortunately for Shye, not only was Reginald still conscious, but the chokeslam seemed to have had no effect on him.
Even more astonishing, he managed to pry Shye’s arms—strong as those of monstrous beasts—away from his neck.
It was simply unreal.
At that moment, Shye jumped back with narrowed eyes.
‘Something’s fishy…’ He thought inwardly.
There shouldn’t be any skill or spell that could make someone this powerful so suddenly.
Unless…
‘Ninth Devastation Ray!’
Swapping one of his greatswords for his ruby-tier elemental staff, Shye unhesitatingly fired one of his trump cards, aiming it straight at Reginald’s forehead.
It was a vicious move that would kill the young scout instantly.
However, despite being struck cleanly, Reginald merely stood up the next moment as though nothing happened.
Nonetheless, Shye was unperturbed. He then activated another of his killer moves, [Nightfall Reaper], and slashed his opponent’s head clean off.
Shye had clearly seen the head roll across the ground, so when Reginald stood up with his head intact, Shye finally confirmed his suspicions.
‘Heh, I knew it…’
