Chapter 638: Insanely Sharp
Clouds of dust swirled as the forest echoed with the sound of footsteps—one light and agile, the other slow and heavy, both carrying an air of aggression.
After noticing Shye, a mere human, charging at it, the Bloodskin Ogre roared in fury.
Contrary to its appearance, the red-skinned monster wasn’t stupid.
It knew it was being “hunted” by an audacious little human.
Hence, it quickly picked up its giant wooden club, brandishing it towards Shye as it charged forward to meet him in combat.
“Hmph! Fast, but not fast enough!” Shye snorted, jumping up and landing atop the club.
He then sprinted towards the ogre, bloodthirst apparent in his eyes.
Shye wasn’t sure why, but his new weapons seemed to stir an urge to kill within him—perhaps a side effect of the bloodstone.
He didn’t mind, though, relishing the sensation.
The Bloodskin Ogre realized that its attack had been evaded and that the human had no intentions of backing down.
Hence, after another furious roar, it used its other hand—fingers thicker than logs—to grab Shye, aiming to squish him like the bug he was.
Shye was way smaller compared to the ogre. However, he was no bug.
This time, Shye didn’t even bother to dodge, slashing Darky and Murky towards the approaching hand.
*SPURT!*
The result brought a smile to his face.
Blood splattered everywhere as five severed fingers hurtled through the air, falling close to the ogre’s feet and eliciting a roar of agony from the red-skinned monstrosity.
However, much to the creature’s misfortune, its suffering had only just begun.
Before it could even comprehend what happened, its vision suddenly turned black.
It was blinded!
*ROAR!*
A second roar of anguish rang through the forest, causing creatures from both minor and major territories to turn their attention toward the source.
They were familiar with their neighbors. They were sure that the roar was from the Bloodskin Ogre.
However, since it was an apex creature, most of them couldn’t help but shiver upon hearing the red-skinned monster’s torment.
None of them would even dare f*ck around the ogre.
Hence, they anxiously wondered what formidable opponent the creature was facing to cause it such intense pain, bracing themselves for a potential shift in territory dynamics.
It was indeed a monster that was fighting the Bloodskin ogre, an utter monster of a human.
Blinded, the monstrosity wildly swung its wooden club, causing trees to fly everywhere, uprooted in groups of two or three.
Unfortunately, there was no chance in hell that such attacks would land on Shye, who was as nimble as a cat.
Shye, despite the bloodthirst, employed Reginald’s patient fighting style, counterattacking only once with each wild blow dodged.
However, describing his actions as “whittling down the opponent’s vitality” was a severe understatement.

Thanks to his new greatswords, each strike was brutal, slicing deep into the Bloodskin Ogre’s flesh and dealing immense amounts of damage.
As a result, just a minute and a half into the battle, the monster was already on the brink of death, its once powerful roars of anguish growing weaker and weaker.
It even appeared as though the monster had given up.
After all, it was now blind and weak. There seemed to be truly no chance for it to win.
“Weapon quality truly does matter…” Shye muttered, gazing at the pathetic state of the red-skinned monstrosity.
“I shall end your suffering, ogre!”
Upon hearing Shye’s voice, the ogre swung its club at the spot where Shye had been standing, hitting nothing but the ground and creating a small crater.
The next moment, a sharp pain surged from the left side of its chest, draining its remaining strength.
Its club then dropped heavily to the ground with a resounding thud followed by its body.
With Darky and Murky, it didn’t even take Shye two minutes to slay the Bloodskin Ogre. It was a resounding and decisive victory that impressed even Zeth.
‘What a superb battle, master. Truly magnificent.’
‘Thank you, Zeth!’
However, the two couldn’t converse for long as Darky and Murky subtly shivered, capturing the trio’s attention.
“Hmm? Something’s happening to the greatswords…”
Moments later, Shye noticed that Darky and Murky were absorbing the blood! The evidence was the blood on the blades slowly drying up.
He then lifted both blades, trying to see if their weight increased.
Unfortunately, it appeared that the increase in weight and sharpness was so minimal that Shye didn’t notice any difference.
“Oh? What if I…?”
Shye, struck by inspiration, quickly drove both greatswords into the dead Bloodskin Ogre’s heart, letting them absorb the blood.
Soon after, Shye couldn’t help but smile as he watched the bloodstone edges work their magic.
A few minutes later, the creature was entirely drained of blood, sparing Nookie the trouble of doing it manually.
“Ukyii! Thank you, master! This will make a great addition to my puppets!” the scrawny necrollin exclaimed with excitement.
It then quickly extracted the core from the creature, tossing it to Zeth before starting the process of turning the corpse into a corpse puppet.
“Alright, Nookie, this will be your new training area. I’ll check in from time to time to monitor your progress.”
“Understood, master! I, Nookie, will build the grandest corpse army you’ve ever seen!” the little necrollin declared, earning a nod of approval from its master.
After leaving the little necrollin to its work, Shye mounted Zeth, and the master-familiar duo made their way back to Valenzia City.
He needed to hunt for gemstones and other crafting materials not only for his greatswords but also for the armor set and elemental staff base he planned to commission from Meido.
He would also need to research who the best arcanist was to commission for turning the elemental staff base into a fully functional elemental staff.
Shye had a lot to do, and he had to do it before six months were up as his mandatory hero missions would probably get in the way once the WAA finished his official registration.
