Chapter 645: Bloodthirsty Yaksha
‘Hoh…this should be her [Unique]-tier skill, [Berserker’s Fury]…’ Shye mused as he stared with narrowed eyes at his opponent.
A faintly translucent red aura, forming into a larger humanoid version of Karsa, suddenly surrounded her, radiating an overwhelming sense of violence and bloodlust.
[Warning: You have been afflicted with one stack of [Fear]!]
‘Oh? So that’s how you want to play, huh? You think you can humiliate me by turning me into a sniveling coward with those [Fear] stacks? Alright, let’s play that way, then.’ Shye thought inwardly, a shadow of a cold smile emerging on the corners of his mouth.
[You have activated [Harrowing Aura Lv.5]. You are now afflicting your target with one stack of [Fear] every 3.33 seconds!]
‘But, unfortunately for you…’
[Warning: You have been afflicted with one stack of [Fear]!]
[Your trait: Unfazed Heart, has dispelled one stack of [Fear]!]
Shye’s [Harrowing Aura] not only applied [Fear] stacks at a faster rate, but his [Unfazed Heart] trait also cut the stacks he received by half.
Karsa simply stood no chance of winning this battle against him.
However, she was naturally none the wiser.
‘Still, such a skill shouldn’t only be good for afflicting others with [Fear] stacks…otherwise, it wouldn’t be classified as [Unique]-tier…’ Shye pondered, gripping his greatswords tighter as he waited for Karsa to attack.
As expected, [Berserker’s Fury] was also a physical enhancement skill, clearly shown by the slight increase in Karsa’s charging speed.
However, it still wasn’t enough to catch Shye off-guard, as it only matched Reginald’s speed—something Shye could handle.
What caught Shye slightly off guard was the unbelievable increase in dexterity and strength.
Karsa’s attack speed was so fast that before he could even angle his greatswords properly, her katanas were already right in front of him, resulting in a sloppy block.
Furthermore, Shye didn’t expect such an absurd increase in strength from one attribute-enhancing skill.
Hence, he was sent skidding backward for five meters, losing the strength battle for the first time in a very long while.
“Heh, why don’t you talk now, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn? This skill will last for quite a while, do your best to survive so as to not lose face for all heroes.” Karsa mocked back, feeling ever-so-slightly better.
“Pfft, talking big with a bloody nose and swollen cheeks after barely knocking me back five meters? Not very convincing…” Shye retorted sharply as he stepped back.
Soon after, translucent black wings and a jet-black ancient armor materialized on Shye’s back and torso.
A blood-chilling howl, akin to that of malevolent demons, then echoed around him, significantly boosting his combat prowess.
He could activate [Fallen’s Howl] to double the fear stacks once they reached a hundred, or he could opt for the scumbag move of flying very high to wait for his opponent’s skill to time out.
However, Shye wasn’t interested in listening to Karsa’s endless yapping; hence, he decided to not save his skills, opting to instead humble her at every opportunity.
His [Fear] stacks would naturally win the race against Karsa’s anyway, there was no need to pay any extra attention to it for now.
After transforming into an angel of death, Shye descended upon the scarlet berserker awaiting him on the ground, his greatswords ready for another violent slash.
Karsa wasn’t stupid, she knew that this skill should be Shye’s attribute-enhancement skill.
Hence, rather than facing his fierce downward momentum, she swiftly and gracefully stepped back, causing Shye’s ferocious, [Power Slash]-empowered attack to strike nothing but the ground.
To the onlookers’ horror, a small crater formed as his weapons hit the ground, sending clouds of dust billowing and fragments of the stage’s stone tiles flying everywhere.
Karsa wasn’t fazed, though, as she had fought monsters with equally strong attributes.

She simply charged forward once more to try and attack Shye, who was still recovering his footing.
Unfortunately for Karsa, this time, despite the rather clumsy block from Shye, it was her who was sent skidding back a few meters.
To make things worse, Shye did not have any intentions of letting go of this tiny advantage he got from catching her off-guard.
As a result, for a solid five minutes of intense exchanges, with top-tier warrior techniques and low-tier skills, Karsa was forced into a defensive position, dodging and retreating like a cornered rat as Shye relentlessly pursued her.
This time, Jeremiah’s heart pounded uncontrollably as he watched the person he admired and loved being overwhelmed in a head-on warrior clash as if Shye were the seasoned veteran and she the inexperienced newcomer.
The difference between them became more evident as their attribute-enhancing skills timed out.
For another two minutes, Karsa was battered relentlessly, her katanas beginning to chip and wear down under the constant clashes with Darky and Murky.
She was naturally pissed and in disbelief at what was happening, a hint of bitter regret creeping into her heart.
She should’ve taught Shye a lesson much earlier!
Because of her miscalculation, she had not only taken a brutal slap but had also failed to gain any advantage.
If this continued, she would end up as just another stepping stone like so many before her.
She couldn’t let that happen.
With that thought, she resolved to stop holding back. Her wrathful attitude earned her quite a lot of enemies in other guilds.
Hence, she was planning to hide her strongest trump cards.
However, with how things were developing, she had no choice but to reveal them, or risk having her career destroyed.
She would have to survive this predicament first before worrying about future ones.
Casting caution aside, a golden aura enveloped Karsa’s light-element katana, while her darkness-element katana was shrouded in a jet-black glow.
In addition, various runes appeared on her forehead, arms, forearms, and legs, followed by the release of red smoke from her back and the nape of her neck.
She now resembled a bloodthirsty yaksha, and even her enemies—who had been grinning as they watched her get beaten—began to frown.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah gazed at her with newfound reverence.
He never knew she had so many trump cards left.
Now that she used them all at once, it was pretty evident that she was planning to end the match once and for all.
“Yes! Karsa! That’s it! Show them why you’re Raven’s Blade’s strongest!”
