Over the next two months, his subordinates not only advanced rapidly in strength due to the extended high-grade tonic exchange sale in the rewards exchange room, but their careers flourished as their quests went smoothly, with no one bold enough to challenge them for priority on the quest boards.

Whenever they desired a quest, it was immediately assigned to them. It felt as though the entire division had exclusive priority over all quests.

He then briefly scanned the familiar metallic walls of the place with a strange look—somehow beginning to feel safe and at home—before proceeding to the old man’s room.

“Why did you call me, old man?” Shye asked with his brows raised in curiosity and slight nervousness.

“I expect you will be assigned your first hero mission in about a month. Before that, we need to retrieve an item from one of Dweezel’s strongholds. You will accompany your parents and approximately three hundred of my adamantite-level subordinates on this task. Your father, Maverick Crowley, will command this mission.”

Upon hearing the old man’s explanation, Shye’s brows furrowed. However, at the same time, his heart relaxed.

It appeared the old man had summoned him to finally take part in the organization’s operations, likely as preparation for the main attack.

He was already strong enough to significantly boost the operation’s chances of success. Hence, he understood why the old man wanted him to take part in it.

‘The item we have to retrieve must be crucial to the old baldy’s plans…’ He mused.

“Fine, what will be my role in the operation?”

“You’ll be the secret strike force’s leader and be the one to retrieve the item. Here, take this.”

Extending his hands to receive two pieces of scrolls from Sanada, Shye stared at them with a confused look.

“So? What are these for?”

“These scrolls will disguise your weapons to look like katanas, helping to protect your identity. Additionally, you must use this opportunity to uncover the traitor among your friends.”

Upon hearing the old man’s subsequent words, Shyes face swiftly changed from that of understanding into one of confusion once more.

He didn’t know how he could use the operation to smoke the rat out.

Shye was about to ask; however, before he could do so, the old man already began to explain.

“I believe the guy that was assigned to watch Colzen City was codenamed Fifteenth Hawkling, correct?”

“Yes.”

“I’ve obtained some information that Fifteenth Hawkling reports to the headquarters we’re about to attack in the Fanfir Region. The rat will most likely respond to distress calls. I trust you already know what to do?”

“I see…yeah, leave it to me…”

After going over the operation’s details with the old man for a while, Shye contacted Shirley via the mana communicator, instructing her to inform the parties that he would be waiting for them at the division’s headquarters and had new orders for them.

Since they were in the middle of a quest, he had to wait for them for around four days, training his reaction time and leveling up his new skills at the Valenzia Training Center in the meantime.

“Shye, you called us?”

“Boss, what’s up?”

“Ahem!” Shye cleared his throat, glancing over the group before speaking: “You will all rest today. Tomorrow, your parties will be taking on (S-) ranked quests.”

Naturally, everyone was confused after hearing Shye’s instructions.

“Ehh? Why? (S-) ranked quests are too easy for us now, boss!” Seira complained, voicing out the words in everyone’s hearts, except for Shirley’s, as she knew that Shye must have his reasons.

“I won’t explain the reasons, as this is part of your training. Just know that tomorrow, both parties will be tackling (S-) ranked quests. That’s all. Dismissed.”
