Chapter 658: Shye’s Second Recruit
Seira was someone who became easily distressed.
Hence, she always needed a few moments to gather herself before she could approach bad news with a clear mind.
The information she just learned was a bit too overwhelming for her.
After a few deep breaths, Seira was finally able to calm down.
“B-Boss… I do believe you now. However, the video didn’t explain why Dweezel Hawkins led the world astray. Yes, he sealed the Black Dragon of Destruction, but wasn’t he just forced into that position because the Black Dragon attacked Yon Augenn City?”
For the first time ever, Seira stumped Shye.
This proof was indeed insufficient to pin the blame on Dweezel.
However, he couldn’t just expose everything without the old man’s permission,
Shye could only do what Sanada did to make him believe the latter’s words.
Pulling out an orb of truth from the system’s inventory, he had a serious and determined expression as he looked directly into Seira’s eyes.
“Seira, I can’t tell you everything right now. However, I at least could prove to you I’m not lying”
*SPURT!*
Decisively wounding himself, Shye dropped blood onto the orb of truth, causing it to activate and turn purple.
“As my ultimate underling—and more importantly, my close friend—I genuinely don’t want you standing on the opposite side of the battlefield from me. That’s why I’m doing this.”
Shye’s words struck deep in Seira’s heart, prompting her to reflect on the adventures they had shared.
Naturally, Shye didn’t want to rely on using words that would trigger various emotions in his recruitment target’s heart, but he didn’t have a choice this time.
He couldn’t allow the recruitment to fail.
Otherwise, he would have to do something unpleasant to Seira to make her forget that they even had this conversation.
Shye suddenly felt nervous about the recruitment.
“Boss, I apologize…” Seira began, causing Shye and Shirley’s hearts to drop and skip a beat. “…for ever doubting you! I’m ashamed. As your ultimate underling, I should never have doubted you this much! You’ve treated me and my family so well, and I’ve sworn loyalty to you until the end of time. There’s no need to use the orb of truth anymore—I’ll keep my promise, trust you, and follow you! I’ll join your cause. But my family…”
Upon hearing the midget’s subsequent words, Shye was slightly dumbstruck and taken aback for a few moments.
These were the words he expected to hear at the beginning of their conversation.
Luckily, in the end, Seira chose to trust the time they’d spent together and his character from their previous interactions—that he, the boss who had always taken care of her in the past, would never do something to harm her.
“Phew… thank you for trusting me, Seira. And don’t worry about your family—the organization has already arranged safe shelters for them at various Hadean Varsa headquarters. Once the war against Dweezel’s forces begins, no city in the world will be safe. The safest place for them will be in one of those shelters,” Shye replied with a sigh of relief.
“I see, if that’s the case, then I, Seira, swear my loyalty to my boss and Hadean Varsa!” She proclaimed loud and proud, causing every hair in Shye’s body to stand in fear.
“S-S-SHHHH!! Y-YOU IDIOT! W-WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?!” Shye exclaimed in horror, giving Seira a solid whack on the back of her head.
He then immediately sprinted out of his house and checked whether someone was close by.
Luckily, there wasn’t anyone nearby. This allowed him to breathe another sigh of relief.
As Shye entered the house, he saw Seira standing in a daze, her hands covering her mouth and an expression of shocked realization on her face.
She had just openly declared her intent to join the most notorious terrorist organization in the world as if it were an honorable act.

“S-S-SH*T!! BOSS!! WHAT DO WE DO?! WAIT HERE, I’M GRABBING MY FAMILY REAL QUICK!! LET’S GET OUT BEFORE WE—”
*PAH!*
A light smack to the head abruptly stopped Seira’s panic, causing her to rub the sore spot with her hands instead.
“Calm down, I just checked, there’s no one around. We’re safe.”
“I-Is that so? That’s great…”
“Hooooohhh…”
The three of them unexpectedly took a deep breath in unison, prompting them to glance at each other before bursting into laughter.
“Pfft…hahaha. You little midget… are you selling your boss out?!” Shye joked, clearly relieved that everything had turned out fine.
He hadn’t been the least bit nervous from the start, fully expecting Seira to believe his every word, given her blind faith in him.
As it turned out, challenging and overturning a deeply ingrained belief in someone’s heart was far more difficult than he had anticipated.
He had to do better in terms of recruiting people.
“Hehehe, sorry, boss. You know how impulsive I can be… hehe!” Seira responded, grinning awkwardly as she massaged Shye’s back like a loyal underling.
After chatting for a few more minutes, Seira left Shye’s house, deep in thought.
Meanwhile, Shye and Shirley breathed yet another sigh of relief.
‘Phew…at least it went well in the end…’ Shye thought inwardly.
Shirley was also pretty happy regarding how Seira’s recruitment went, as she knew that Shye would be dejected if he failed to recruit one of his close friends.
To celebrate the success of the operation, Seira’s recruitment, and identifying the mole, the couple enjoyed a hearty steak and vegetable dinner, which they cooked together.
However, it was far from an ordinary cooking session—the two engaged in steamy, intimate moments before they even started cooking.
Exhausted and hungry, the meal they prepared tasted even more delicious than usual.
The couple ended the day with one last sexy time before cleaning up and lying in bed together, sweetly cuddling as Shirley snuggled into Shye’s chest, holding each other as they drifted off to sleep.
They cherished these tender moments as much as possible, knowing that once the war began, nothing was guaranteed.
They couldn’t afford to neglect the present too much.
Otherwise, they would surely regret it if the future turned bleak.
