Chapter 660: Going Phoenix Hunting
Frozen End, Radiant Sentinel, Midnight Fang, and Piercing Zephyr—the four titled adventurers who upheld Valenzia’s skies when heroes were absent in the region.
They worked tirelessly, day and night, to manage the escalating threats, many of which would typically be the responsibility of heroes.
As a result, even though Valenzia was ranked the lowest among all ten regions, the four became significantly stronger than the typical titled adventurers from backwater regions.
Way stronger.
Not only were their attributes higher, but they also possessed sharper senses and greater mastery in adventuring, regardless of the terrain or location of the mission.
If titled adventurers from other regions dared to mess with them, they would receive a harsh wake-up call.
But what choice did they have?
With no heroes around, they had to be as strong as one, despite lacking hero crests.
Otherwise, their beloved region would gradually be consumed by the threats that surrounded it.
Midnight Fang was the oldest among them at forty-seven years old.
He had medium-length white hair, a surprisingly muscular physique for a scout, and hawk-like eyes with a horizontal scar across his nose.
Not only was the man intelligent, but his extensive experience allowed him to quickly determine the best course of action for the party, even in the most challenging and disadvantageous situations.
He was a comforting presence—a dependable senior who looked out for the younger members.
On the other hand, Piercing Zephyr—a young archer just slightly older than Frozen End at thirty years old—possessed a fiery, passionate spirit and a fair amount of arrogance.
However, he had never been jealous of others’ talents; instead, he focused on self-improvement rather than indulging in petty envy.
He never believed that he would remain inferior as long as he worked his hardest.
Now that Shye proved to be a genuinely likable individual, Piercing Zephyr couldn’t help but admire him, believing that maintaining humility while possessing such power and talent was a difficult feat—one that he would need to train hard to achieve.
The young archer was quite the handsome fellow, standing at six feet three inches tall—slightly taller than Shye.
With his short green hair, slim yet toned physique, and aesthetically pleasing features, he was sure to capture the hearts of many young maidens.
However, one thing ruined his almost perfect appearance: his unusually bulky arms that were larger than even those of Shye’s.
Known for his destructive long-range attacks, Piercing Zephyr tirelessly trained his strength, allowing him to wield the strongest of bows while maintaining the nimbleness that archers should have.
He was both fast and destructive.
Unfortunately, he simply didn’t have enough time to strengthen his body, so ultimately, like most archers, he remained nimble yet fragile.
However, his standout quality was his strength, which enabled him to shoot arrows with far greater destructive power than typical archers.
Like Midnight Fang, he was a dependable comrade to have on missions.
After a short meeting, where they went through known facts about the Phoenix with their handler who went by the codename Amethyst, Shye’s small party of five left the WAA Valenzia Headquarters.
Naturally, anyone who witnessed such a powerhouse lineup would be stunned, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
This was the first time Valenzians had seen Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn together with the four titled adventurers of their region.
As a result, the onlookers felt an overwhelming urge to swarm the group of five.
If not for Frozen End, with her icy demeanor, and well-known dislike for crowds, people would have already flocked to them.

‘Hoh…her presence is pretty handy…’ Shye mused as he led the five towards the special teleportation circle at the Valenzia City Square.
Upon arriving, the teleportation formation operator couldn’t help but stand up, slightly flustered at the party of five.
She had never seen the four together with Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn before, which meant that their current mission was a major one.
The operator didn’t waste any time, sprinting to the activation lever and preparing everything before the party of five even reached the magic circle.
While she knew Shye to be kind and cheerful, Frozen End was the complete opposite, making it impossible for her to relax.
Thus, within seconds, the party of five was transported out of Valenzia City, arriving in a frontier city near Valenzia’s borders: Garblegorne City.
It was the region’s thirty-fifth ranked city, and the strongest adventurers there were merely mithril-rank—weak and untalented individuals who had only reached that rank due to their age and the sheer number of quests they’d completed, struggling to make a living in Valenzia City.
Naturally, the sudden arrival of the region’s hero and four titled adventurers shook the entire city.
This was especially true as Garblegorne’s City Lord, along with his entourage, had been waiting for the five’s arrival for over an hour, further elevating their prestige.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries that lasted less than five minutes, Shye and the party of five left the city, making their way toward the Agio Phos Death Zone, where the Phoenix was said to be nesting.
Fortunately, the five didn’t have to walk to the zone, as Piercing Zephyr summoned his familiar, a noble-rank bird-type spirit resembling a giant red-feathered crane, large enough to carry eight people.
With only five of them, they felt quite comfortable as the bird familiar named Tori flew deeper into the zone.
While Tori wasn’t particularly strong—only around the level of a wyvern—he bravely soared above the towering trees, fully trusting that his master and his master’s comrades would keep anything too dangerous at bay.
Naturally, Shye and the others didn’t disappoint.
Several (S-) and (S) ranked monsters attempted to snatch Tori and drag him down from the skies.
However, they were all quickly defeated by Shye and the others, giving the titled adventurers a rough sense of just how strong their new comrade was.
Finally, after flying for about an hour, the ominous sight of a scorched mountain, with fireballs raining down like meteorites, came into view, causing the expressions of the party of five to turn serious.
It seemed that they wouldn’t be merely pursuing the ghostly trails of an elusive creature of myth today…
