Chapter 668: Locating The Hidden Lair
Winds howled as a massive creature approached the entrance of a cave situated near the peak of a perilously windy mountain.
Its body was riddled with scorched wounds, and its breathing was labored, clearly struggling even with simple movements like flapping its magnificent silver wings.
‘How can such a small bird be so powerful and fierce? Even the elder members of my kin might be defeated by it,’ the Wind Dragon thought to itself, regretting its choice to challenge the Phoenix.
‘Hmph, at least those humans are even more foolish than I am! If I, a proud member of the dragon race, couldn’t defeat it, how could they possibly succeed?’
Little did it know, the very flaming bird it now feared had already been destroyed by the humans—specifically, by one human; and that same human was already hot on its tail.
Wind Dragons, despite being defeated by the Phoenix in terms of flying speed, were amongst the fastest flyers of its species.
This had nothing to do with their attributes but their ability to harness the power of the element of wind to its advantage, allowing it to ride as many tailwinds as it wanted.
Unfortunately, such tactics proved ineffective against the fiery bird, who moved and attacked so fast that the Wind Dragon didn’t even have the chance to get into its groove.
This young Wind Dragon, barely seventy years old, had just reached adulthood, making it far more aggressive and arrogant than its elder counterparts, driven by a desire to prove itself and earn recognition among its kind.
Of course, it wasn’t new to defeat, as it had already fought hundreds of creatures stronger than it while it was maturing.
It had also fought other dragons. In other words, it won some, it lost some.
Its carefully concealed nest, tucked away in a hidden cave near the peak of a windswept mountain within the Agio Phos Death Zone, only fueled its boldness to challenge any creature that crossed its path.
If defeated, the dragon would retreat to its lair to recover, always returning to seek revenge for its losses.
However, this was the first time it felt fear towards a creature of another race.
The young Wind Dragon knew it could never hope to defeat the Phoenix, no matter how much experience, strength, or skill it gained.
It lacked the courage to even remain within a kilometer of the fiery bird.
Fortunately, the dragon was now within what it considered its “safe zone,” where it could recover undisturbed for as long as it wished.
For seventy years, even the most cunning humans had failed to locate the entrance to its cave—so what chance did that deranged, violent bird have?
Since the Phoenix didn’t seem particularly interested in it, the young Wind Dragon was confident that no danger would come its way.
At least not in the near future.
Tired and wounded, it tore a huge piece of meat from its food stockpile, dragging it toward its resting area before gobbling it up to regenerate as quickly as it could.
Unbeknownst to the Wind Dragon, a young man and his mare familiar—both concealed by a special aura-hiding powder and a dark, eerily silent barrier—were already at the base of the windswept mountain where its lair was situated.
In front of the two was a small bug that ever-so-steadily advanced, leading the way toward the hidden lair as though it had been there before.
This was, of course, Shye’s Blood Bug, the creature he had employed to track the werewolf general in the lord dungeon where he discovered and tamed Nookie.
He felt rather lucky that the Wind Dragon had already been wounded, making it easy for him to gather its blood.
After approximately two hours of trailing the bug, Shye and Zeth finally sensed the Wind Dragon’s aura nearby, though they couldn’t determine its exact location, as it felt like the massive creature was just beneath them.
However, the absence of any visible entrance left the two puzzled for a moment.
Fortunately, after flying idly for a few seconds, the blood bug once again moved, advancing straight toward the edge of the windy mountain.
This left Shye even more confused at first until an idea struck him.
He then activated his flight ability and followed the bug, which was descending the mountain’s edge without a hint of hesitation.

Meanwhile, Zeth, preferring to avoid any unnecessary foolishness, transformed into a bracelet.
She decided to just revert to her original form if Shye required her assistance.
Just moments later, Shye heard eerie howls.
However, he was convinced it was not a monster, but rather the wind flowing in and out of a surprisingly large cave entrance concealed behind massive rocky formations near the peak of the windswept mountain.
Observing the Blood Bug enter the cave, the shadow of a smile appeared on the corners of Shye’s mouth.
‘So, this is your home, huh, Wind Dragon?’ He mused as he followed the mana-powered tracking device.
To his astonishment, the cave was quite deep; however, with no confusing twists or turns, Shye and the Blood Bug easily made their way through it.
A few minutes later, Shye’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
The walls of the cave were lined with an abundance of peak-grade jades, which could be used to enchant both weapons and armor sets with a top-tier wind enchantment.
There were at least one hundred and fifty, if not more, making the area a treasure trove for scouts and archers alike.
‘Holy crap! Today is my lucky day, isn’t it?!’ Shye silently rejoiced, as if he hadn’t felt unfortunate for being forced by the old man to slay a mythical monster that no one had ever battled before.
The value of the jades in front of him would easily surpass fifty-thousand gold coins.
‘If I could arm my personal unit with such high-quality enchanted equipment…hehehe!’
Shye found himself daydreaming for a while, nearly losing sight of the Blood Bug.
“Oops, almost messed up again… need to take down the Wind Dragon before I can gather these enchantment jades…”
After another ten minutes of walking, he reached an area where the sickening stench of flesh, blood, and rotting bones filled the air, causing him to grimace. However, his displeasure quickly faded as his eyes landed on a pristine lake.
Beside it, resting peacefully, was the…
‘Wind Dragon…’
