Chapter 675: Raining Rewards
Shye was naturally pleased upon receiving the access badge.
Now, he would gain access to more difficult yet immensely rewarding quests, saving him the time and effort of repeatedly traveling through Death Zones, as the rewards from a single quest would equal three to four times the most lucrative ones posted on the guild’s quest boards.
“Hahaha! Thank you, Guild Master Soaring Raven! You truly are the best guild master!” Shye generously praised in return
At that moment, the two resembled cunning foxes, laughing loudly after successfully getting what they wanted from each other.
“No worries, no worries! You deserve it, after all!” Soaring Raven smiled, shifting his attention to the skill book.
This naturally prompted Shye to do the same.
“This right here is one of the only two [Legendary]-tier skill books our guild has, eyed by almost every adamantite-ranked adventurer in the guild, including Karsa.” The guild master said with pride, causing Shye’s eyes to widen in disbelief.
In the system, the minimum price of a [Legendary]-tier skill was a million system points, so Shye had always mulled deeply in the past few months if he should purchase one, especially since his [Nightfall Reaper] and [Ninth Devastation Ray] had never failed him.
He didn’t know if spending a million points on a level one [Legendary]-tier skill would be worth it, considering his need to save up as many points as he could before revealing his allegiance to Hadean Varsa.
Now, at least, he had the opportunity to witness its power firsthand, giving him a baseline to evaluate its capabilities and decide whether to invest more in the future.
“You could consider it as our guild’s treasure. Now, I’m entrusting it to you. I know there’s no one more suited to have this skill than you.” Soaring Raven continued, handing the skill book over to Shye, who eagerly received it.
Shye then opened the skill book to “read its contents”, while in reality, he was reading something else: the skill book’s appraisal window.
There was no need to read every useless word when the system could summarize everything for him in a compact collective.

‘Holy sh*t!!’ Shye cursed internally, overwhelmed by shock and disbelief. Outwardly, his expression remained composed, displaying just the right amount of surprise and delight.
But inside, he was bursting with excitement, feeling as if he wanted to jump and scream to let out all the pent-up elation.
“Y-You’re really giving me a skill like this, guild master?” Shye foolishly asked in disbelief, still struggling to accept that he would soon possess such an incredible ability.

“Hahahaha! Of course! You’ve done so much for not only the guild but also the region. You definitely deserve this!”
“Thank you, guild master!”
After chatting cheerfully for a few more minutes, Shye exited the guild headquarters, drawing the gaze of thousands of astonished onlookers.
His guildmates were still struggling to comprehend that he had defeated the mythical Phoenix.
Shye then made his way to the WAA Valenzia Headquarters to report to Director Belford.
Soaring Raven had informed him that a message had been received from the headquarters, instructing the guild master to relay to Shye to report back, as the Director had something important to discuss with him.
Of course, Shye complied.
Around twenty minutes later, he arrived at the headquarters, asking the guards for assistance to locate Director Belford’s office.
“Director, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn has arrived.” The guard said after lightly knocking on the office doors three times.
“Come in.”
Entering the office, Shye was welcomed by the white-haired old man with a smile.
“Crowley! You’ve finally returned. Well done on slaying the Phoenix! Thank you for eliminating such a threat and bringing honor to our region!”
Naturally, Shye responded with the expected words, effortlessly spouting nonsense about how it was an honor for him too, along with other similar platitudes.
He then went to receive the promised rewards from the WAA, though nothing too fancy like the one Soaring Raven gifted him for bringing glory and honor to the guild.
After all, it was his duty as a hero—obligations he had sworn to uphold in exchange for the hero’s crest, which granted him immense power.
Nonetheless, it wasn’t too shabby either.
In addition to receiving a sudden bonus of fifty thousand gold coins, which boosted his coin reserves to three hundred and forty thousand, Shye also received an [Epic]-tier protective item.
It was a feather that constantly changed colors from gold to silver, and then to grey every few minutes.
According to Director Belford, the feather was collected from an area where another mythical creature, the Thunderbird, had briefly resided.
Originally, the feather had four colors when it was handed over to the WAA by an adamantite-ranked adventurer in exchange for specific benefits he required.
A century ago, it was loaned to a hero from the Fanfir Region as a protective item to increase the chances of success for a particular mission—and it did.
The mission succeeded, but one charge of the feather was consumed, permanently removing its navy-blue color.
This meant Shye could still use the feather to generate various types of barriers, useful in different situations, three more times.
Receiving the feather with a smile, Shye thanked the old director.
“Lord Belford, my guild master mentioned that you wanted to discuss something with me?”
Upon hearing Shye’s words, the merry old man suddenly frowned, his expression turning stern.
“Crowley, it’s like this.”
