Chapter 677: Little Froggies in the Bottom of the Well
Three weeks passed swiftly as Seira and Shirley’s parties took on two S-ranked quests, making the most of their time while awaiting the Heroes’ Banquet.
Naturally, most of them were excited when Shye informed them about the event and their participation, while a few were indifferent.
However, none of them were opposed to the idea of attending, especially after Shye mentioned that they could place bets when someone challenged their friend to a spar, which was bound to happen.
A long time has passed since they felt such excitement.
Since joining Shye’s division, their growth has been remarkable, leaving little competition among their peers.
However, there were a few individuals around three to five years older who could potentially provide a decent challenge.
Unfortunately, after becoming accustomed to the speed, power, and intelligence of (S) ranked creatures, Seira, Shirley, and the others found it hard to feel threatened or excited about sparring with those their age.
Especially since it was also satisfying watching their guild contribution points skyrocket after every five to eight days depending on the difficulty of their quests.
Thus, they chose to focus on completing S-ranked quests to boost both their adventurer ranks and combat skills, occasionally sparring among themselves.
However, after countless bouts, they had memorized each other’s moves, making it hard to progress through duels alone.
The upcoming Heroes’ Banquet was an exciting opportunity to test their abilities against the youths from more prominent regions while also earning money from bets.
Confident in their skills, they eagerly anticipated the event.
Today, Shye and his ten chosen companions, who were also his friends, gathered at the WAA Valenzia Headquarters.
The event is set to take place tomorrow at a secret, luxurious, and expansive WAA venue in the Deltra region, so they need to depart today.
“Is everyone ready?” Director Belford asked as he scanned his eyes over the ten youngsters Shye chose for the event.
Most of them were slightly on the younger side, though a few appeared to be at the ideal age.
After receiving Shye’s list about a week ago, Belford promptly investigated the ten individuals, discovering that they were all members of the Raven’s Blade Adventurer Guild.
At first, the old director grimaced at the list Shye provided, thinking these ten nobodies would likely be outclassed in the competition.
He assumed the young hero was simply bringing them along because they were his friends, giving them a chance for some exposure and experience.
However, upon researching who they were a bit more deeply, Belford was astonished.
It turned out they were the recently rising Raven’s Blade Mithril party, known for completing (S) ranked quests one after another.
As a result, they rapidly climbed the ranks and were now only two or three quests away from reaching adamantite status.
The old director had certainly heard of them several times before.
However, as the busy old man he was, he never had the time to look into who they were or assess their capabilities.
It wasn’t until he reviewed their profiles and quest history in the WAA’s database that Belford realized they were all between twenty-three and twenty-eight years old.
Moreover, six of them were part of the legendary Colzen Academy batch that propelled the academy to become the fourth Kingly Academy—a group led to victory by none other than Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn.
After learning who the ten youngsters were, Belford grew more confident.
Although he was unaware of the full extent of the youngsters’ abilities, he understood that one individual couldn’t carry an entire academy to victory in the Adventurer Academy Competition, meaning that the other six had played their part and secured wins against the elites from Eusford and Aslan Academy.
Even just the six of them gave Valenzia a decent chance of scoring at least three wins.
If they could do so, Belford could hold his head high with pride in the Heroes’ Banquet.

These six were certainly more interesting, more mysterious, and had a higher chance of winning than the ones he had in mind.
As for the other four, Belford recognized one of them: Lesurii Kusanagi from the renowned Kusanagi Adventurer Clan.
The old director wasn’t familiar with the other three, so he assumed they were simply there to make up the numbers.
He had no qualms about it, though, as the other seven provided a decent chance of securing some wins, and that was all that mattered to the old man.
He wouldn’t feel too bad even if the other three lost badly since the others could take revenge for them.
…Seeing everyone nod in high spirits in response to his question, Belford smiled, Shye’s words replaying in his head.
“Leave things to me and enjoy the show!”
Shye had never let him or the region down, so the WAA director had made up his mind to never doubt his young hero again.
After all, Shye had consistently delivered on his promises in the past, and Belford felt it would be unfair to him not to trust the young man, given all the miracles he had achieved and the legends he had created.
‘Fine then, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn. I, Belford Grant, will do as you say and enjoy the show!’ the old director thought to himself, nodding at the youngsters before turning around and stepping onto the special teleportation magic circle that would transport them directly to the city where the Heroes’ Banquet would take place.
Naturally, Shye and the others quickly followed suit.
In the next moment, a soft blue light surrounded the twelve individuals, transporting them away from Valenzia City and into another location.
A few seconds later, Shye and the others found themselves in the city square of a different city—one that was far more developed than Valenzia City.
Shye suspected they had arrived in one of the highest-ranked cities in the Deltra Region.
‘Gorvingale City, huh?’ he mused, staring at the sign in the square that read, “Adventurers! Welcome to Gorvingale City!”
While Shye was impressed, his friends were even more amazed, as it was their first time being in such a city.
Their wide eyes and gaping mouths made the young hero chuckle in amusement, finding their reactions rather adorable.
They had thought Valenzia City would be hard to surpass, but now they realized otherwise, understanding that many cities like this one could exist in other regions.
Their perspectives broadened, leading them to understand why Valenzia was considered a backwater region.
It turned out that, despite their previous beliefs that their region was just as good as others, they were indeed just frogs at the bottom of a well.
