Chapter 679: Most Anticipated Portion
“Ahh, what a great meal!” Seira exclaimed while rubbing her full tummy.
“Oi! Didn’t I tell you to not overeat? You might fight first, you know? Here, take this.” Shye reprimanded, giving the midget a pill that would allow her to digest the shitload of food properly she ate in merely five minutes.
Shye was rich, so he didn’t mind spending on the digestion pill, even though it was quite expensive at five gold apiece.
He even brought twelve pieces of it just in case.
“Hehe, my bad, boss! The food was just too good, and I got carried away.”
It was a simple conversation between two youngsters; however, it irked the elitists to no end.
They couldn’t stand how at ease the Valenzians were acting.
Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait much longer, as moments later, Lord Hale Eversong, the head director of all ten, rose to his feet.
“Everyone, I trust you enjoyed the meal. If you’d like more, feel free to visit the buffet table. I know you’re all eager to connect with your peers from other regions, so I’ll now explain the rules for the next part of our event—the much-anticipated sparring matches between heroes and young talents,” the head director said, his gaze sweeping across the crowd.
He knew that at every Heroes’ Banquet, this was the moment the young participants eagerly awaited.
A strong performance could not only help them make a name for themselves but also prove their potential to be mentored by the heroes who had brought them here.
More importantly, they were determined to prove their superiority and showcase the dominance of their regions.
This was especially true for the youngsters from the second-ranked Deltra Region, who eyed the Yon Augennians like hungry wolves.
Likewise, most of the youths from the ninth-ranked Krebori Region were eager to humiliate Shirley and her group, determined to demonstrate that Krebori would always stand above Valenzia.
The youngsters’ blood surged with excitement, their hearts racing and bodies primed for action.
They couldn’t wait to prove their skills.
Noticing this, Hale Eversong smiled to himself. The head director was also eager for the upcoming inter-regional youth sparring matches.
“First rule: no one is permitted to kill or permanently cripple their opponent by severing limbs. However, severe injuries like crushed or fractured bones are allowed, as our healers are on standby to treat them.”
“Second rule: Youth participants are not permitted to use their own weapons. We’ve supplied blunt, moderately heavy iron weapons along with pre-configured elemental and life staffs in the racks being brought by our staff to the designated sparring area, and these are allowed for use. Heroes, however, are an exception; they can use whatever they have at their disposal, but they must activate combat simulation talismans before sparring. No talisman means no sparring—understood?”
Seeing everyone nod in agreement, Head Director Hale Eversong continued.
“Third, each participant is allowed only one fight, with wins and losses recorded for the final regional rankings. However, these rankings reflect only their standing in the Heroes’ Banquet and do not determine the overall rankings of their regions. Naturally, the top three regions will receive rewards from the WAA.”
“Finally, heroes may fight as many times as they wish, but only if they have combat simulation talismans remaining. Once again, no talisman means no sparring. That’s all. Does anyone have any questions?” Hale Eversong concluded his speech, scanning his eyes over the crowd once more.
To his surprise, a certain grape-haired midget raised her hand to ask a question—one he had actually forgotten to explain.
“I-I have a question, Sir!”
Seira didn’t even know who the hell the old man was, so she merely referred to the head director as “sir”.
“Speak, youngster from Valenzia.”
“W-Will the heroes’ win-loss records impact the final regional rankings of the Heroes’ Banquet?” Seira asked, her voice trembling with nerves.
The old man’s stern expression was just too intimidating for her.
“Hoh, excellent question, young lady. I neglected to mention this, but since heroes can fight as much as they like, their win-loss records will not impact the final rankings.”
“I-I understand now. Thank you for the clarification, sir!”

Over the past few centuries, the sparring portion had been chaotic, with instances where youngsters refused to stop fighting one another.
As a result, the WAA implemented a rule allowing each participant to fight only once.
Anyone could challenge anyone, but the youths from a region could also choose to simply watch without issuing or accepting challenges.
However, by doing so, they would forfeit their chance to win the prizes prepared by the WAA.
Consequently, the youths almost always opted to challenge others or accept sparring challenges.
Moreover, declining challenges were generally frowned upon.
If a youth chose to do so, they would likely be labeled or insulted as a coward by participants from other regions, making it unwise to reject challenges.
Insulting someone was not against the rules, so the choice was clear: either fight or accept the label of a wuss.
All of them were passionate youths, and naturally, none wanted to be labeled as cowards.
This made fighting inevitable for Shirley and the others.
“Any other questions?” Hale Eversong asked, his expression as stern as ever.
After scanning the crowd for a few seconds without anyone raising their hands, the head director nodded in satisfaction.
“Good. Since the rules are clear to everyone, let the sparring matches begin! Our moderator here shall take over to ensure that the challenges would be issued in an orderly manner.”
Once he finished explaining the rules, Hale returned to his designated seat at the Yon Augenn table, allowing the moderator to step forward with confidence.
She was a petite young woman with an average chest and bottom, yet her exotic beauty could have brought about the downfall of a city in ancient times.
Her curly black hair was styled in a bun, her skin had the perfect tan, and she wore a long dress with slits that highlighted her alluring hips and enticing curves.
In an instant, the hearts of a few young men were captured.
“Hello, everyone! Thank you for joining us at the Heroes’ Banquet! I’m your moderator for this event, Scarlet Bardott,” Scarlet introduced herself cheerfully, then turned her head toward the Yon Augenn table before continuing:
“Now, let’s begin with the top-ranked region. Ladies and gentlemen of Yon Augenn, is there anyone you would like to challenge?”
