Chapter 686: Invincible Battle Maniac
“WHY?! HOW?!” Claudius shrilled desperately as he continued his relentless onslaught.
His opponent was clearly on the defensive.
However, their contrasting expressions were quite amusing: the one under attack wore a confident smile, while the aggressor appeared to be the one slowly sinking into despair.
The elitists could sympathize with Claudius, though, since his assault was fierce and unpredictable despite being one arm down.
Only, none of his attacks had ever struck his opponent squarely.
Moreover, despite using various skills to complement his violent and thunderous fighting style, it seemed that his opponent was still somehow managing to read his complex attack patterns, especially as time went by.
Now, only thirty seconds remained of his [Thunder’s Warchief Lv.5 (Epic)]. He had to make something happen.
“Hahaha, Sieg is as terrifying as ever. This is exactly why I used to finish him off quickly whenever we sparred in the past. The longer the fight goes on, the more perfect his reads and predictions become. You’d almost think he could read your mind!” Shye said, eliciting nods from everyone from Colzen and causing Belford’s ears to perk up in curiosity.
The old director was genuinely impressed by what he was witnessing, to the point where he could hardly believe it wasn’t a dream.
After all, the opponent hailed from Yon Augenn—the strongest region—and merely surviving more than a minute against such an opponent would have been enough for Belford to applaud Siegfried’s performance.
But what the hell was this?
Not only was the lad holding his own, he appeared to be toying with his opponent.
It truly seemed as if Siegfried was inside the Yon Augennian’s mind.
His narrow dodges and immaculate footwork were a spectacle as if an instructor were demonstrating combat techniques to his class.
This was why Director Belford suddenly grew curious about Siegfried, pleasantly surprised to discover such a diamond hiding in the rough that was Valenzia.
“Hahaha!” Kiin chuckled. “Seriously, even Ian had no choice but to surrender once Siegfried found his rhythm!”
“Hmph! How many times did that actually happen, though? Didn’t I shut him down in almost half of our spars?” Ian shot back, unwilling to be outdone.
“Yeah, but you had to do it quickly, right? You’ve never beaten Sieg in a long, drawn-out fight!”
“Ugh… if you put it that way… I guess you’re right.”
Hearing the lighthearted banter between Kiin and Ian, Belford nodded inwardly, satisfied.
If even the impressive young scout from earlier couldn’t defeat Siegfried Lionheart in a prolonged battle, it seemed safe to assume this match was already in the bag.
However, he hadn’t anticipated a third individual of Ian and Siegfried’s caliber entering the conversation—someone he knew little about.
“Hahaha! But you’ve got to admit, Shirley’s impressive in her own way, right? Imagine sparring with that monster for at least thirty minutes every time! It’s hilarious! Even Sieg can’t decide if he still wants to spar with Shirley or not—he looks so fed up! Bwahahaha!” Harry added, glancing at Shirley, prompting Belford to do the same.
‘Her?’ The director mused as he gazed at the orange-haired beauty. ‘Someone can last that long against that young monster?’
Fortunately, he didn’t have to wonder for long, as the conversation among the Valenzian youngsters resumed shortly after.
“Hahaha! She’s all grit and stubbornness, right? Like an Amazon warrior straight out of the movies—completely relentless! She’s just too tough!” David said, allowing Belford to learn of her strengths.
However, before the old director could even fully process the information he had just learned, another shocking revelation dropped.
“Hahaha! She really deserves to be the one by Shye’s side!” Harry teased, making Shirley blush with embarrassment.
‘What?! This lass is Crowley’s woman?!’ Belford thought in utter shock.
If it were true, she would naturally gain Shye’s support and could potentially surpass even the two young powerhouses on his youth team, given enough time.

Shye’s proud reaction certainly suggested that this was the case.
‘I suppose I’ll need to keep a close eye on this young woman, then…’
*BANG!*
A loud noise that came from the sparring area snapped Belford out of his musings, prompting him to look once more at the dueling youngsters.
Upon hearing what the youths of his team said, he already expected this result, but witnessing it actually happen still shocked him.
There was the youngster from Yon Augenn, utterly spent as he knelt, gritting his teeth and gazing at the young man who had defeated him with furious, disbelieving eyes.
This was the first time Claudius felt so helpless.
Even after using his reliable trump card, [Thunder’s Warchief Lv.5 (Epic)], which had saved him from every disadvantageous situation in the past and allowed him to turn the tide each time, he still couldn’t land a single clean hit on the unknown young man before him.
“Great match, Claudius,” Siegfried generously praised, turning to walk toward Valenzia’s designated table. “Though it did get a bit boring towards the end…”
The latter part of his statement was nearly a whisper, yet it still reached Claudius’ ears.
“YOU!!” the Yon Augennian shouted in anger, struggling to find the right words as his wounded pride and shattered ego left him speechless.
Ultimately, despite his urge to berate the arrogant Valenzian, he could only ask for the name of the young man who had bested him in combat, his teeth clenched.
“Bastard… What’s your name? Remember this day… I will definitely get my revenge.”
“Oh? I thought you weren’t interested?” Siegfried replied with a mysterious smile. “Hahaha, just kidding—I’ll tell you. The name’s Siegfried Lionheart. Feel free to challenge me whenever you like.”
Witnessing the handsome young man’s glorious exit, the heart of a certain young maiden raced wildly.
‘Haaah… always so cool… my Sieg…’ Lesurii thought to herself as she watched Siegfried.
“What a victory for Valenzia! Young Sir Siegfried Lionheart from Valenzia has defeated Claudius Lothain from Yon Augenn!” Moderator Scarlet suddenly announced in an energetic voice, capturing everyone’s attention and bringing Lesurii back to reality.
“Can everyone believe it? With this victory, the Valenzians have secured the top-three spot with a record of two wins and no losses! Can they maintain this incredible momentum, or will they stumble? We’ll find out soon!”
