Chapter 693: Foul-mouthed Midget, Face me!
“Woah. woah, woah! When did you learn how to fight with a dagger, lil bro Kiin?!” Seira asked with an amazed look on her face.
She was genuinely impressed, but half of her expression was just for show, as she already knew that Kiin was her boss’s prime suspect.
Therefore, she did what any loyal subordinate would do and attempted to gather information for Shye.
“Ahh…hahaha…this is a bit embarrassing,” Kiin chuckled awkwardly, scratching his head. “I started my training as a scout-class adventurer when I was younger, but since I had more talent in archery, I decided to switch. However, I still secretly practice with daggers from time to time.”
“Oh! I see! Then why didn’t you tell us? Or at least give us a hint that you were so skilled with it? Wait, doesn’t this mean you effectively have Scout as your subclass?!” Seira exclaimed, her voice ringing throughout the grand halls.
“W-Well, you could say that, although I only have a few scout skills. Plus, my actual scouting abilities on a monster-hunting quest aren’t very good. It would be better for us to retreat in the future if the party’s scout can’t keep going,” Kiin explained.
“Hohoh, little bro Kiin, you’re so humble! On top of that, you’re smart and handsome! It makes me wonder why you still don’t have a girlfriend. Ahh! Maybe you’re a secret agent who doesn’t have the time to fall in love?! Just kidding! NYAHAHAHAHA!”
The barrage of questions and “jokes” she aimed at Kiin could potentially provoke subtle reactions from him that Shye would definitely notice if he slipped up.
As a result, for the first time, Shye found himself impressed by Seira’s intellect and outstanding acting abilities.
Unfortunately, he didn’t notice any subtle signs.
If Kiin truly was Fifteenth Hawkling, then he was remarkably cautious, and his acting skills were equally impressive.
Nonetheless, Shye noticed a similarity: like Fifteenth Hawkling, Kiin had revealed that he possessed a subclass, though he never brought out the shield he had used to block Shye’s attack during their encounter at the Fifteenth Stronghold.
Additionally, the unusual strength Kiin displayed when he first blocked Dale’s attack was something Shye hadn’t known he possessed.
With this, Shye was now about eighty-five to ninety percent certain that Kiin was Fifteenth Hawkling.
The conclusion of Kiin’s battle was rather anticlimactic, as he did his best to endure despite sustaining injuries after thirty seconds, waiting for the clones to time out.
Then, once Dale’s true body was revealed, Kiin swiftly eliminated him using his [Rare] and [Unique]-tier trump cards, which everyone was already familiar with.
Had it not been for his bow being a worn-down one, Dale might have met his end.
With Kiin’s victory, Valenzia’s record improved to six wins and one loss, with Shirley, Seira, and Wendy still yet to compete.
Unfortunately, they remained in second place, as the Fanfirians held the top spot with an undefeated record of seven wins and zero losses.
While Valenzia managed to stay miraculously in the running for the top three spots, their rivals, Krebori, were in complete despair, with their director in an exceptionally sour mood.
It was hard to blame him, as Belford had been relentlessly mocking him with irritating chuckles each time one of his young competitors suffered a loss.
To make matters worse, their record had sunk to zero wins and eight losses, and their last two competitors were among the weakest duelists in their youth roster.
Their youngsters were simply not capable enough to win.
They were thoroughly defeated by the Valenzians, whom they once believed inferior to them.
The rounds continued, with wins and losses accumulating.
Although now a bit shaky, the plan was still in motion, and the Chellionians still hadn’t done anything stupid.
There was still a chance for the Yon Augennians.
Unfortunately, it was one of their own who first strayed from the plan.
Glenn Soren, the young man who appeared overly concerned about Claudius’ well-being, suddenly lost his mind and challenged a Valenzian.
“You! You foul-mouthed midget! Come face me! Let’s see if you can back up all that talk!”

There was no mistaking it—Seira was the only “midget” in the venue.
She instantly realized that someone had finally challenged her, though she wasn’t too pleased about being called a midget, even if it was true.
Only her boss was allowed to call her that.
“W-Wha?! Who said that?!” She exclaimed angrily, turning in the direction of the voice.
Realizing that it was a Yon Augennian who challenged her, Seira suddenly felt nervous, remembering who the guy was.
‘T-That’s the overly concerned friend of the guy little bro Siegfried defeated!’
She hadn’t forgotten the cold glare the young man gave her earlier, right after she blurted out some random nonsense without considering the consequences.
Seira had never thought of herself as a genius.
It may have seemed true in the past when she had only herself to rely on.
Her unfortunate circumstances overshadowed her natural talent, but her willpower still radiated like the high noon sun, even if she didn’t realize it.
When she first began her journey as an adventurer, she didn’t even have enough money to buy a proper weapon.
It was only natural that her progress would be excruciatingly slow.
It wasn’t until she received help from Shye and trained alongside young geniuses that her innate talent began to flourish—though it came a bit late.
This meant she no longer qualified for the title of “genius,” which was typically reserved for those who shone brightly in their youth.
She was already twenty-seven years old this year.
Additionally, the belief that she was nothing special had been deeply ingrained in her heart and mind, leaving her feeling truly intimidated when suddenly challenged by someone from Yon Augenn, whose youngsters were regarded as the best in the world.
She doubted her chances of winning.
Naturally, Shye noticed this.
“Seira.” He called out, causing the nervous midget, who was contemplating whether it would be wiser to decline the challenge, to turn her attention toward him.
“B-Boss? What is it? D-Do you have any orders or advice for me?” she asked, appearing to seek guidance from her ever-reliable boss.
“Nothing. I just wanted to remind you that you’re not the same person you used to be. You’ve trained hard and gone through difficult times that none of those silver-spoon babies over there could even comprehend. Besides, you’re my ultimate underling, right? Do you really think that Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn’s top subordinate would lose to someone like him? You’re strong now, Seira, so stop doubting your chances and just beat the crap out of that Yon Augennian.”
Luna also wanted to encourage Seira, believing that with her current capabilities, there was a fair chance of her winning even against a Yon Augennian.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t good with words.
She was pleased to see that Shye’s words appeared to have been extremely effective, evident in Seira’s energized expression and newfound determination.
“NYAHAHAHAHA! IF YOU PUT IT THAT WAY, BOSS, THEN I GUESS I’LL JUST HAVE TO SHOW UP! PREPARE YOURSELF, BRAT FROM YON AUGENN! I, SEIRA RAMAH, SHALL BEAT YOUR UGLY MUG SILLY!”
