Chapter 711: Roaring Flame Versus Scorching Luminosity
A striking young man with spiky red hair brandished a flaming greatsword, squaring off against a petite woman wielding an elemental staff with a radiant tip, clearly designed for [Light]-type magic.
“Hoh? What a fine sword. Explains how you achieved your current position without utilizing your brain.” Axelle mocked apathetically, causing veins to pop at the sides of her opponent’s head.
“Heh, coming from the one wielding a peak-adamantite-tier staff with a blinding tip. You’re probably just using that to keep people at bay. Tch, such a cheap trick,” Van snapped, turning his gaze toward the moderator.
“Moderator, start the match. I’m eager to teach this little missy a lesson she won’t forget.”
Naturally, the gorgeous moderator was all too happy to oblige.
“Sir Van Smolders of the Roaring Flame versus Miss Axelle Vespertine of the Scorching Luminosity, begin!”
The moment the start signal sounded, Van became a blur of flames, charging fearlessly toward Axelle.
His massive frame, combined with the fiery trail behind him, made his advance even more intimidating.
However, how could a mere charge scare off an equally talented young heroine?
Axelle sneered in disdain as she completed casting [Uninterrupted Casting Lv.5 (Uncommon)], a buff spell that allowed her to seamlessly resume her incantations, eliminating the need to restart if she had to pause briefly to dodge.
Then, mere moments before Van’s enormous greatsword slashed her simulated figure in half, she disappeared, reappearing fifteen meters behind the flaming warrior.
Van quickly turned around and gave chase once more.
“My turn, bird brain. Glacial Thorns!” Axelle shouted while her opponent was still ten meters away, summoning a hundred icy shards before her.
The glacial thorns then shot mercilessly toward Van, intent on turning him into an icy pincushion.
“Hmph! This is it? Naive! Raging Flames!”
Moments before the icy shards could strike, flames erupted from Van’s body, incinerating the glacial thorns into vapor as he continued his ferocious charge, completely unhindered.
Witnessing this, Axelle clicked her tongue in annoyance.
“Tch, what a muscle-brained way…Spark Flash!”
In the next instant, a blinding flash robbed Van of his vision for several seconds.
By the time his sight returned, Axelle had repositioned, and two massive rocky walls had appeared on either side of him, poised to crush him into a pulp.
“Ha! Got you, stupid!”
The walls then proceeded to smash each other, with Van in the middle seemingly about to get crushed.
However, the next moment, everyone’s eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.
Van Smolders charged decisively toward the left rocky wall, reducing it to rubble with a single punch.
He then drove his sword deep into the right wall, momentarily stopping its movement before shattering it into hundreds of pieces with a powerful kick.
“What? Literally all muscle, no brain!” Axelle complained upon witnessing how easily Van dealt with her rocky walls.
But naturally, being the smart mage that she was, Axelle disdained Van’s brutish ways.
She was not convinced at all.
Nonetheless, the results spoke for themselves, and it was clear from their exchanges that both of them were fairly evenly matched in skill.
For the next few minutes, a cat-and-mouse game unfolded.

Piercing lights and searing flames illuminated the dome as Van relentlessly chased after Axelle, who adeptly held him off, despite several close calls.
At one point, she nearly got sliced in half by an incredibly powerful flaming slash that obliterated two of her [Rare]-tier light projectiles, forcing her to use an emergency escape skill.
Naturally, the two slowly developed respect for each other.
“Hoh, you’re quite the elusive one, Axelle Vespertine of the Scorching Luminosity. I must reluctantly admit your skills.”
“Hmph! and you’re not as much of a bird-brain as I initially thought. I retract my earlier statement. You’re indeed formidable, Van Smolders of the Roaring Flame. However, one must win and one must lose, and I intend to be the winner!”
At this point, a majority of the youth representatives were at the edge of their seats, their breathing heavy as they watched the spectacular battle.
Of course, the broadcast viewers were even more so.
After all, they rarely had the chance to participate in or even witness such high-level battles, so their almost insane reactions were completely understandable.
In fact, most of them were unaware that the skills the heroes were using even existed.
It was simply a mind-blowing match for most viewers.
With both the young hero and heroine’s low-tier skills on cooldown and a few light bruises scattered across their bodies, the match gradually neared its conclusion.
Axelle was already chanting her six-second ultimate spell after ensnaring Van with mana roots, which he only managed to escape from three seconds later.
Given the distance the young mage heroine had created, along with the boost from her uninterrupted casting spell, Van realized he would be at a disadvantage if he attempted to interrupt her.
Therefore, he instead opted to use his ultimate skill to counter Axelle’s.
It was time for the final clash.
A golden glow enveloped the young heroine as a massive magic circle materialized on the ceiling of the grand hall, extending across the entire blue dome.
There was nowhere for Van Smolders of the Roaring Flame to run or hide.
It didn’t appear to be an issue, however, as the dashing hero had no intention of fleeing or hiding.
He intended to confront the skill head-on, just as he always had with everything that stood in his way.
In the next moment, a terrifying rain of piercing lights fell across the entire blue dome, leaving only Axelle unharmed, as the golden glow surrounding her served as a signal for the light shower to steer clear of her.
Every single particle aimed to rip Van to shreds.
However, before the first beam could even reach him, the dashing hero suddenly transformed into a towering flaming giant, menacingly advancing toward Axelle.
The initial volleys of light were incinerated, but the flames of the giant gradually weakened with each beam it burned.
Consequently, three-fourths of the way toward the young heroine, the rain of piercing light struck the giant’s body, causing it to crack with every beam that embedded itself deep into its fiery body.
To Axelle’s disbelief, the flaming giant continued to march forward until it finally reached her, slamming its massive hands down before disintegrating into magma and rubble as the relentless rain of light ultimately destroyed it.
The next moment…
*FWING!*
Two azure rays of light shot out from the dome simultaneously, narrating the outcome of the magnificent battle between two of the brightest stars of the younger generation.
The Roaring Flames and the Scorching Luminosity were equals.
