Chapter 715: Piece Of Cake
“PUHAHK!!”
A mouthful of scarlet blood splattered across the white ceramic floor of the blue dome as Van Smolders of the Roaring Flame did his best to rise as fast as he could, aggravating the internal injuries from the earlier clash.
‘How is this guy so damn strong?! Why didn’t it show in the footage of his fight with the Phoenix?!’ the red-haired hero inwardly cursed, utterly perplexed.
He assumed Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn would be the “strategic” type, based on how methodically he took down the mythical creature and how much smaller Shye’s physique was compared to his own.
Van had never expected Shye to have such raw strength.
Due to this, alarm bells rang in the Roaring Flame Hero’s head, finally realizing how much of a threat Shye was.
The Black Dawn Hero turned out to surpass his reputation by far.
Unfortunately, Van was already waist-deep in the mud.
He knew he’d have to bring his A-game if he wanted to escape this mess with his prestige and reputation intact.
Trying his best to appear as calm as possible, the red-haired hero assumed his battle stance once more—shield in front and his greatsword at the ready, though his frown never left his face.
In contrast, Shye was in an extremely good mood as he read the notification in front of him.
[Congratulations! You’ve earned 1,294,372 points!]
He already earned back the 700,000 points he spent on his new skills in preparation for his battle against Alexander Aphelion.
As a result, excitement surged through him, energy flooding his entire body.
This time, it was Shye who attacked first.
Charging towards Van, he slashed both greatswords forward, causing two silvery slash marks to fly towards the slightly bruised and battered Roaring Flame hero.
“Golden Bulwark!” Van shouted as a translucent golden image of a massive round shield appeared before him, intercepting the two eight-meter-tall slashes and forcing him to skid back five meters.
The [Uncommon]-tier attack proved much harder to block than he had anticipated.
Seeing this, Aziel gritted his teeth in frustration and despair.
It had been such a casual swing from Shye, yet the sheer size of the [Half-moon Slash] made it clear—he was nowhere near being a match for the Black Dawn Hero.
Not even close.
…Shye’s assault didn’t end there, as the half-moon slashes were merely a diversion.
Before Van even realized, Shye was already beside him, Darky and Murky poised to strike.
‘Lethal Edge!’
With a translucent red glow, the two greatswords viciously aimed to cut the unprepared Roaring Flame Hero’s head off.
Van naturally wouldn’t let things end like this.
With a grunt, he forcefully adjusted his shield to block the attack, though he was still sent staggering back the next moment.
Unfortunately for him, Shye was adamant about showing off today.
Without giving Van a moment to rest, Shye summoned his translucent, rotting black wings along with his jet-black armor after a blood-curdling howl that resembled those of demons of old.
Then, with a mighty flap, he disappeared, reappearing in front of the off-balance Roaring Flame Hero, sending his shield flying off his hands with one forceful kick.

Defenseless and frustrated at how he was being steamrolled, Van gnashed his teeth in fury.
“THAT’S ENOUGH FROM YOU!! RAGE BLAZE!!” the red-haired hero shouted, summoning scorching flames that erupted from his body in an attempt to push Shye back.
Unfortunately, Shye, who had survived the Phoenix’s flames with two fire-resistance skills, wasn’t about to retreat from the flames of a mere Roaring Flame Hero.
To the shock and horror of the onlookers, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn charged straight into the raging inferno, temporarily returning Murky to his inventory and extending his arms forward, his hands resembling eagle talons.
Van was dumbfounded upon witnessing his adversary dive straight through his flames, a vicious smile gracing his face upon finally “realizing” what happened.
He thought Shye’s charge was so fast that Shye couldn’t stop in time!
“HAHAHA! WHAT A FOO– UGHK?!”
Van’s words were abruptly cut off as a smiling figure emerged from the flames, grabbing him by the neck.
Then, before he knew it, he was already soaring across the blue dome.
*BANG!*
A loud thud echoed as Shye slammed Van into the ground, generating clouds of dust and sending fragments of white ceramic tiles flying in all directions.
The Roaring Flame Hero’s body throbbed with pain.
After suffering from such a ruthless soaring chokeslam, Van’s consciousness was barely intact, but it was still enough to hear Shye’s laughter.
“Hahaha, nice try, Van Smolders of the Roaring Flame. Unfortunately, you overestimated yourself too much. If only you used your trump cards right from the start, you might’ve lasted longer.” Shye said smirkingly, activating his mage skill, [Gravitational Drain].
“Y…You think this is over? Think ag–?!”
The next moment, Van felt his strength leaving him, causing him to panic slightly.
“I…Infernal Golem! Demonic Might!
Panicked by his situation, the Roaring Flame Hero quickly unleashed two of his trump cards at once, summoning translucent lava rocks that formed around him and Shye, trapping them both inside.
But it was far too late.
Van’s body rapidly withered into a lifeless husk as oblivion consumed him.
Upon seeing the Infernal Golem appear, the Hakk’Shattans erupted in cheers.
However, their celebration was sadly short-lived—the fiery golem crumbled into smoldering rubble moments later, revealing Shye’s silhouette as he mercilessly held Van’s shriveled corpse by the neck.
In the next instant, the Roaring Flame Hero turned into an azure beam of light, shooting out of the blue dome and rematerializing as his true body, his eyes blank with disbelief and disappointment.
Van Smolders couldn’t fathom it—he had lost without even getting the chance to display his true prowess.
The Hakk’Shattans struggled to make sense of the situation for a few seconds, only managing to snap back to reality after hearing Shye’s voice.
“See? This guy was easy for me!”
Shye boasted with a grin as he scooped up all the winnings. He then tossed Seira and the others’ share onto the Valenzian table before heading back to his seat on the elevated platform.
