Chapter 724: Comrades-in-Arms
“SHYE CROWLEY OF THE BLACK DAWN!! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS TREACHERY?!” the Chellionian mage hero shouted in a panic.
He attempted to cast spells, but he found himself unable to harness any mana.
Axelle found herself in the same predicament, realizing that she, too, was at Shye’s mercy.
All she could do was watch and hope for the best.
“Heh, aren’t you a clever mage, Allen Frostwind of the Howling Blizzard? Why do I still have to spell things out for you?” Shye mocked, his gaze icy. “That’s right—just like her, I’m also a terrorist.”
At Shye’s words, Axelle’s heart raced, a surge of excitement flooding her body.
She never imagined that Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn, Valenzia’s sole hero, would turn out to be a terrorist like herself, even becoming her unexpected ally!
Axelle was naturally curious about Shye’s affiliation.
However, she knew this wasn’t the time to ask, as they still had unfinished business.
“Y-You bastards! You’ve gone crazy! Why are you siding with evil?! Why are you guys so intent on destroying the world, huh?!” Allen raged, extremely frustrated.
Shye was about to kill the Chellionian hero, but a clever idea suddenly flashed into his mind.
Hence, he decided to merely knock Allen out for now with a single, solid punch to the chin, leaving him for later.
Shye then turned his attention to the exhausted but slightly excited young heroine.
“S-Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn, are you really a terrorist like me? I-If that’s the case, which group do you belong to? Why would you choose this path when everything seems to be going well for you?” Axelle immediately asked a flurry of questions, eager to know the answer to each.
However, Shye didn’t answer immediately, staring her down coldly to let her know her place first.
After all, he still didn’t know whether she was truly an ally.
There was a chance that she was just someone who hated the WAA and wished to bring ruin to the world.
His intimidation tactics proved effective, as Axelle immediately shut up upon realizing her position, not daring to ask any more questions.
She was now as docile as a lamb in front of Shye.
Initially, she was convinced that she was superior to even Alexander Aphelion, as she believed that she at least knew the truth of the world while Shye and the others were nothing but clueless pawns of the WAA.
Thus, after finding out that Shye was also a terrorist, her sense of superiority vanished, replaced by extreme curiosity.
Unfortunately, curious as she was, Axelle could only wait for the young Valenzian hero to speak.
Seeing that she finally understood that her safety wasn’t guaranteed yet, Shye finally moved, retrieving an orb of truth from his inventory.
“Drop your blood on it.” He ordered coldly.
Realizing her life was at stake, Axelle no longer dared to act arrogantly and immediately complied. She was eager to determine if Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn was an ally.
If that were the case, it would be a significant advantage for her group’s mission.
“I am indeed a terrorist,” Shye confessed openly as the orb of truth activated. “But you should be the one to tell me your affiliation first. Which group do you belong to? And what is your purpose for being a terrorist?”
Axelle knew that honesty was her best bet here. Hence, she did not hesitate and answered Shye’s series of questions truthfully.
“My mother left and joined Hadean Varsa when I was around fifteen years old, and since I despised my father, my original motive for joining the same terrorist group as her was to bring destruction to the world. That’s when I discovered the truth,” she said, watching closely for any reaction from Shye, hoping to gather more information.
Unfortunately, her efforts yielded little.

‘Sigh… it looks like I’ll have to reveal this so-called truth first,’ Axelle thought to herself, meeting Shye’s gaze without hesitation.
To her surprise, instead of immediately demanding the so-called truth, the young Valenzian hero asked for proof first, even though the orb of truth had already turned blue.
“Oh? So you’re with Hadean Varsa? Then you must have already received your crest. I assume that’s why you tried to flee as soon as the deliberations were about to start?”
Hearing Shye’s words, Axelle was pleasantly surprised.
It seemed that there was a high chance that the two of them were from the same organization.
“Y-Yes! I knew they’d quickly figure out I’m from Hadean Varsa, and escaping would be much harder once I was surrounded, so I took my chance before anyone could react and blasted off…” Axelle replied eagerly, hope gleaming in her eyes. “A-Are you possibly from the same organization as me?”
The high-quality orb of truth Shye used was completely reliable, and since it had consistently turned blue, his cold expression softened.
Axelle Vespertine, as it turned out, was an ally—an outcome he hadn’t anticipated at all.
‘Hmm? Was this a part of the old man’s plan all along?’ Shye wondered. ‘What a ruthless move… using her as a scapegoat to improve my chances of survival. He must’ve known someone would figure out there was a traitor, yet he went ahead with the operation anyway, ensuring my safety by shifting all the blame onto Axelle and leaving her to die on her own…or did he also plan for me to help her and for the two of us to meet like this? What a scary, scheming old bastard…’
“S-Shye Crowley?” Axelle asked nervously, a hint of fear in her voice, worried that Shye might belong to a rival organization judging from his reactions.
“O-Oh, sorry, I was just lost in thought,” he replied, easing the young heroine’s racing heart a little. “Now, tell me, how much do you know about this so-called truth?”
Naturally, Axelle eagerly explained that the threat posed by the mana dungeon would only escalate if they didn’t release the Black Dragon of Destruction from its seal, emphasizing that Dweezel and the WAA were the true enemies.
However, this was where Shye’s version differed. Sanada told him that the WAA was not an enemy.
It was just that Dweezel was manipulating things within the organization, hindering Hadean Varsa’s ability to achieve its goals effortlessly.
The adventurer raid parties that targeted the less concealed headquarters were all orchestrated by Dweezel.
Once they managed to sway the WAA to their side, releasing the Black Dragon of Destruction would become much simpler.
The organization needed to act strategically and play its cards wisely, particularly because the power the WAA could summon with a single call for help from the adventurers was unmatched—neither Dweezel nor Hadean Varsa could compete with that.
This was why the WAA was crucial for both sides.
After all, whoever secured the WAA’s alliance would be aligned with justice.
Unfortunately, the retired Golden Sun Hero had a considerable advantage in this situation, as the WAA was entirely under his control, although Sanada did have a few moles within the organization.
‘I suppose her position in the organization isn’t too high…’ Shye mused.
“I see, thanks for making things easier. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you.” He said, causing all of Axelle’s worries to vanish.
She didn’t want to die just yet; she longed to take her father’s life with her own hands for the unspeakable things he had done to her in her youth.
However, a moment of realization struck her the next instant.
Based on Shye’s reaction, it seemed he was already aware of the truth regarding the world’s current state, indicating that they were from the same organization.
“S-Since you’re not thinking that I’m crazy, I assume we’re from the same organization?” Axelle gathered up her courage and asked.
“Yes, I’m also from Hadean Varsa.”
