Chapter 727: Void Prison
‘Prisoner?’ Shye mused, frowning, ‘so Siegfried didn’t use the tweaked talisman, huh?’
He was a bit disappointed.
However, he only needed one to identify which of the two was Dweezel’s mole, though he wouldn’t be able to kill Fifteenth Hawkling if it turned out to be Siegfried.
Following the old man to the special prison, Shye and the two beauties were shocked to find that they had to enter a void portal to get to where Kiin was imprisoned, as it was located in a separate void dimension—a testimony to the old man’s horrifying abilities.
A few moments later, their familiar blue-haired friend came into view, sitting in one corner of the prison, seemingly deep in thought.
“Kiin,” Shye called out as he took off the mask. “Or should I say, Fifteenth Hawkling?”
Naturally, Kiin recognized Shye’s voice, prompting him to turn around.
“S-Shye, is there some kind of mistake? W-Where am I? And why am I in prison? I’ve been thinking long and hard, but everything leads back to the emergency escape talisman you gave me,” Kiin said, a hint of nervousness and desperation in his voice. “Please tell me, Shye, are you responsible for this?”
Shye merely stared at his close friend closely, though.
He wouldn’t buy the guy’s bullshit so easily.
Shye believed that Kiin, or rather Fifteenth Hawkling, was only acting this way because he realized he was deep in enemy territory and thought denying his identity was his best chance for survival.
‘Heh, unfortunately for you, we got an expert in extracting information right here.’
Sanada was indeed an expert at extracting information from his captives.
As a terrorist leader practicing soul arts, it would be far too easy for him to determine whether Kiin was truly Fifteenth Hawkling or not.
Thus, it didn’t matter how skilled he was at acting and controlling his emotions; he was effectively done for the moment he fell into Shye’s trap.
“I asked the question first, Kiin. Are you Fifteenth Hawkling or not? If you admit it, I’ll let you explain yourself and may even allow you to live, as long as you swear loyalty to Hadean Varsa,” Shye said coldly, sending a chill down Kiin’s spine.
This was what it was like to be on the receiving end of Shye’s hostility.
“F-Fifteenth Hawkling? I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Kiin stammered, his heart racing wildly. “A-Also, Hadean Varsa? D-Don’t tell me you’re a member of a terrorist organization! Are you going to kill me? Was our friendship a lie from the beginning? Why are you targeting me? Are you going to extract my talent?! You bastards!! Shirley! Seira! You’re in on this too?! How could you?!”
Seeing Kiin’s reaction, Shye wavered, realizing that he might have captured the wrong person based on Kiin’s outburst.
However, he quickly reminded himself that Fifteenth Hawkling was an incredibly slippery individual.
He couldn’t let such a clever and cunning person escape due to personal feelings.
No, he was now deeply involved and needed to face such encounters with logic and intellect, as the future of the world, along with his beloved family, Shirley, and his close friends was at stake.
While there was a chance he could be mistaken, Shye was confident that Kiin would understand.
After all, Kiin was a smart and logical person, based on what Shye knew of him.
If he truly wasn’t Fifteenth Hawkling, that is.
“Kiin, since there’s a possibility that you aren’t Fifteenth Hawkling, let me explain,” Shye began. “I am indeed a member of Hadean Varsa, and so are Shirley and Seira. However, the organization isn’t evil, as everyone believes. In fact, our leader, the former Voidweaver Sanada Eiichiro, is on a quest to save the world from ruin. If it turns out that you truly aren’t Fifteenth Hawkling, I will fully explain everything to you.”
Hearing Shye’s promise, Kiin visibly calmed down by a great deal.
“And how can I prove that I’m not Fifteenth Hawkling?” the blue-haired suspect asked.
“I don’t like to resort to drastic measures, so let’s settle this with a peak-grade orb of truth,” Shye replied, pulling out a moderately sized orb filled with a transparent liquid.
However, Sanada suddenly intervened.

“Kid, let’s just search his soul. The Hawklings are Dweezel’s children from different concubines. Who knows if they have something that would allow them to deceive a peak-grade orb of truth? It would be safer to search his soul, though there’s a significant chance he might go insane afterward.”
Upon hearing the old man’s words, a look of horror spread across Kiin’s face, causing Shye to clench his fists as he found himself in a dilemma.
If possible, he wanted to avoid resorting to soul arts, as he wasn’t certain if Kiin was truly Fifteenth Hawkling.
He was also well aware that the old man didn’t care about the well-being of his friends, so it was up to him to handle this matter properly.
‘Tch…Dweezel’s son, huh?’ He pondered, staying silent for a few seconds as he struggled to make a decision.
“No, old man. Let’s avoid such extreme measures if we can. Unlike you, my friends are important to me. What if he’s not Fifteenth Hawkling? I’m sorry, but I can’t act as heartlessly as you do.”
Sanada didn’t reply immediately, seemingly deep in thought.
His claim about the possibility of deceiving a peak-grade orb of truth was mere speculation, driven by his excessive caution as the leader of a large organization.
However, considering that even he, despite numerous attempts with soul arts, had failed to bypass a peak-grade orb of truth’s lie-detection capabilities, it seemed unlikely that Dweezel could have discovered a method.
After all, the scheming bastard wasn’t a fugitive—he lived within society, which meant he couldn’t have explored or researched soul arts more extensively than Sanada.
For these reasons, along with the possibility of Shye throwing a fit and going rogue if he ruthlessly soul-searched his blue-haired friend, Sanada reluctantly decided to abandon the method he had suggested, allowing Shye to handle things his way.
“Fine, do as you please,” the old man said before leaving the void prison shortly after.
There was no reason for him to stay since his presence was no longer required.
“Now then, Kiin, either cooperate and drop your blood here or face a soul search by the old man.”
