Chapter 733: A Tale of Frozen End
A week had passed since Shye, Shirley, Wendy, and Ian parted ways at the WAA Headquarters, and each of them was now doing their best to complete the tasks assigned to them.
Ian’s skill was underestimated due to the fact that his opponent in the banquet was a rather incompetent Kreborian.
Hence, the mission assigned to him was more like a warm-up mission for Ian, wherein he was assigned to a Valenzian champion party of five regional champions, and they were tasked to clear out a barely (S-) ranked Mana Dungeon
Used to fighting (S) ranked creatures, he was like a hurricane of shadows inside the dungeon, slaughtering every monster in his path in mere seconds.
The other Valenzian champions were naturally dumbfounded at the prowess of their rookie.
Their initial task was to support and guide Ian, ensuring the success of his first mission and his safety.
To their surprise, Ian led them through every battle, bringing the entire group to the boss’ room without needing any assistance.
There, he required only minimal help to defeat the (S-) ranked Kobold King in just a few minutes.
The mission turned out to be a walk in the park for the champion party.
Naturally, the WAA was pleasantly surprised, prompting Belford and other high-ranking officials to debate whether Ian should be immediately promoted to a hero candidate and assigned three special tasks, just like Shirley Locked and Wendy Primrose.
In their eyes, Ian Izanagi’s abilities more than warranted a chance to become the region’s scout hero.
In the end, they decided to assign him two additional missions as a regional champion—both significantly more challenging than the first—to further assess his abilities and determine if he was truly ready to be promoted to a hero candidate.
Meanwhile, for their first task, Shirley and Wendy were assigned to clear a peak (S-) ranked dungeon on their own.
This mission was far more challenging than Ian’s—not only did they have fewer team members to rely on, but the difficulty of their dungeon was significantly higher than Ian’s, despite being the same rank.
Nonetheless, both Shirley and Wendy were already used to fighting (S) ranked monstrous creatures.
Thus, although they had to act extremely carefully and exert much more effort than Ian did, they steadily progressed, finishing their first special mission in only three weeks.
Belford was, of course, elated, as it finally seemed like his region was on the rise.
He never would have discovered the talented youngsters of his region if not for his golden boy, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn.
However, Shirley and Wendy weren’t the only ones currently undergoing their trials for herohood.
Unbeknownst to Shye, someone he was familiar with had also bared her fangs to the WAA and decisively came out of her shell, believing that the time was ripe for her to make a move.
Frozen End had been offered the position of a hero candidate long ago, but for some reason, she always rejected it, insisting that she became a titled adventurer instead.
It was just a month ago that she finally accepted the WAA’s offer, bringing a huge smile to Belford’s heart.
Now, the twenty-eight-year-old titled adventurer was on her second special mission, completing the first with flying colors.
“Hmph, do you think you’ll be able to intimidate me, bird?” Frozen End began, her eyes locked icily onto the eyes of a two-meter-tall white bird, snowflakes and ice crystals gently falling from its pristine wings, neverending.
“Hahaha! Human, for five hundred years, none had ever managed to slay me, the Caladrius of the South. What makes you think you can?” the peak (S) ranked pristine white bird retorted, laughing at Frozen End.
The creature known as the Caladrius was considered a demi-mythical being.
If not for the existence of three more Caladriuses, it would’ve been classified as a mythical creature.
A harbinger of winter whenever it went, the gentle ice rain it always brought with it could turn into devastating snowstorms when it was in a foul mood, earning it its place among the demi-mythical category for its destructive potential.
“Hmph, that’s only because you haven’t crossed paths with me yet, isn’t it? If you valued your life, maybe you should have thought twice before wreaking havoc in MY region.” Frozen End snorted, her bone-deep natural arrogance on full display.
This only served to further enrage the bird, intensifying the snowstorm swirling around the icy mountain peak where their battle raged.

“It seems that you’re still not aware of your inferior position, human.” The bird said, the tone of its voice as cold as the snowstorm it brought. “Fine then, I shall engrave it deep in your little fragile heart.”
To the bird’s surprise, the twenty-nine-year-old titled adventurer merely smirked at its sharp words, causing it to screech in rage and flap its wings mightily, shooting toward its arrogant adversary.
It then opened its mouth to blast Frozen End with an icy beam of energy.
Unfortunately, as soon as the Caladrius of the South tried to harness mana, black ice shards suddenly grew from its chest, slowly creeping their way toward its white wings.
“Pii?!”
The bird naturally noticed the black ice shards, so it decided to temporarily retreat as it attempted to remove the affliction with its lethally sharp beak.
Yet, no matter how hard it tried, the black shards wouldn’t yield.
Resolute, it used its mana once more, pushing through to release icicle spears forged from its purest primordial energies in an attempt to destroy the shards.
To the Southern Caladrius’s horror, however, the spears only strengthened the shards, causing them to grow even larger.
This resulted in the creature plummeting to the icy ground, scattering frozen fragments in every direction.
Half its wings were now encased in black ice, disabling its ability to fly.
“YOU DAMNED HUMAN!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!” the creature raged, sensing its imminent defeat.
“Hmph, consider yourself honored, bird. You’re the first to face this [Epic]-tier skill I created: [A Tale of Frozen End],” Frozen End said, looking down at the once-majestic creature as she pressed her foot against its neck. “Now, begone.”
In the next moment, the titled adventurer performed hand seals, activating the black shards and commanding them to consume the Caladrius of the South, encasing it in a dark icy tomb, never to move or breathe again.
Frozen End took a deep breath and stared at the distance as she murmured.
“One quest left and you’ll have a comrade, Shye Crowley of the Black Dawn.”
