Chapter 735: Unexpectedly Easy
Sensing the arrival of another prey from behind, the Minotaur turned around, chomping one last time on the earth dragon leg it was holding before tossing it to the side and focusing on the young human.
“A human?” The Minotaur said, an eerie smile spreading across its face. “I haven’t tasted one in a while!”
It was about to mindlessly rush towards Shye.
However, it was reminded of its past experience to not underestimate humans ever again.
Moreover, despite decades of not encountering one, it remembered that humans moved in groups of five to seven individuals.
“Oh, I almost forgot…” The monstrous brute began, scratching its head. “It’s bad to underestimate your clever little minds…”
In the next moment, the Minotaur backed up against the labyrinth walls and assumed a fighting stance, prepared to face an entire party of adventurers.
Positioned so that no one could approach from behind, it effectively eased the pressure on itself—a move that made Shye narrow his eyes.
Despite its seemingly all-brawns-no-brain build, it was unexpectedly smart.
Shye believed that, at this moment, the Minotaur was even more intelligent than Aeolus the Wind Dragon, who, despite its youth, belonged to the most powerful race of monsters.

Shye knew he didn’t have time to read the monster’s skills, so he quickly scanned over its physical attributes instead.
‘What the hell is that strength?!’ he cursed to himself, subconsciously swallowing as his heart began to race wildly.

He would surely be dead in just one clean hit!
[Your [Unfazed Heart] trait has activated!]
Luckily, his ever-reliable trait calmed him down, allowing him to regain his composure, though he was still slightly unnerved.
It was inevitable, as his extremely high intelligence attribute consistently reminded him of the repercussions of a single mistake.
“Phew…”
Shye took a deep breath, meeting the gaze of the Minoan Warlord with steely determination.
General of the Black Dragon of Destruction or not, he was resolved to survive today, and no oversized, bipedal bull would stand in his way.
On the other hand, the Minotaur tilted its head in confusion.
“Hm? Hey, human. Where are your little comrades? Aren’t you supposed to fight in a small group or something, working together to take down a superior creature like me?”
Shye didn’t answer, opting instead to charge forward in an attempt to catch the Minoan Warlord off guard.
Arriving at the optimal distance, Shye lunged toward the monster, slashing both greatswords forward and empowering his attack with [Power Slash].
The Minotaur didn’t feel threatened by Shye’s strike, believing it would be easy to block such a mediocre blow.
Thus, it angled the shaft of its enormous halberd defensively, all while continuing to talk to Shye.
“Hmm? Could it be that… you’re alone?” the monster remarked, an eerie smile spreading across its face, now even wider and more unsettling.
But what it didn’t anticipate was Shye’s next move, wiping the grin right off its ugly face.
‘Blades of Despair!’
A dark purple aura enveloped Darky and Murky, now boasting a terrifying sharpness rating of 400 and weighing a hundred kilograms each after feeding on the blood of thousands of creatures Shye had slain ever since he obtained the two greatswords.
The next moment, the destructive twin weapons phased through the shaft, heading straight for the brute lord’s ugly mug.
He then deactivated the [Blades of Despair], allowing both greatswords to deal damage once more instead of just sapping the big bull’s energy.
*SPURT!*
Black blood erupted from two moderately deep diagonal slash wounds as Darky and Murky sank deep into the Minotaur’s face, prompting the massive bull to roar in pain.
However, to Shye’s surprise, it wasn’t enraged and was even smiling at him.
“Hoh… Well done, human. I haven’t felt such pain in a long time…” the Minotaur said, a wild grin reminiscent of a battle-crazed Siegfried spreading across its massive face.
Since Shye didn’t have time to examine the monster’s skills, he was unaware that it possessed a passive ability called [Berserker], which enhanced its pain tolerance, dexterity, and strength by a certain percentage based on the damage it took.
“Now then, it’s my turn to attack,” the Minoan Warlord continued. “What a pity. If you had brought some comrades, this could have been a thrilling fight. Now, die.”
The Minotaur then charged at Shye, causing light tremors with each step it took.
While it wasn’t particularly fast, it was terrifyingly agile for a creature of its size.
With a powerful downward swing of its massive halberd, the monster aimed to cleave the puny human in half.
However, its terrifying attack only struck the ground as Shye effortlessly sidestepped, sending shards of ceramic flying in every direction.
He then counterattacked with a swift [Lethal Edge]-empowered downward slash of his own, aiming to wound the Minotaur’s wrist.
Unfortunately, although his strike connected, it only struck the monster’s left forearm because the Minoan creature moved its arms to protect its wrist.
*SPURT*
Blood once again spurted out of the Minotaur’s forearm wound, giving the monster another charge of its [Berserker] passive.
The enormous bull swung its halberd wildly in Shye’s direction, hoping for a lucky hit, but only struck air.
In the next moment, two eight-meter-tall slashes cut cleanly across the Minotaur’s chest, leaving another long, narrow wound.
Witnessing his attack hit its target again, Shye naturally grew more confident.
Although his stamina attribute wasn’t as high as that of the Minoan monster, with how easily he could dodge its attacks, Shye believed that it would succumb to its wounds first before he ran out of energy.
Furthermore, he could simply drink high-grade stamina potions during the fight, as there were never any rules in a deathmatch between a human and a monster.
Shye found the battle unexpectedly easy.
However, what he didn’t anticipate was that after accumulating three stacks of [Berserker], a faint red aura suddenly appeared around the Minotaur, significantly enhancing its toughness, speed, and strength.
